Halo 5 Hunters: On one side, it's cool that they're a lot like how they're portrayed in the books, on the other side, it's infuriating that they're a lot like how they're portrayed in the books.
In the CE novelization, it stated that the Hunter's cannon IS a fuel rod cannon. it also states that the CE magnum's standard ammo is explosive, and i remember that even on the original xbox you could see and extra explosion after impact on the magnums hit effect.
Well, the original Assault Cannons were never truly integrated. In CE, you can partly see that their right hand is slotted into it, but in Halo 2 as Arbiter, you can clip your POV inside the AC and see the Hunter's right claw inside the cannon. H3 was the first game where the whole arm was turned into a cannon. Which, wouldn't it be interesting if they could have held different weapons?
i am glad they moved away from the "arms" thing though. Alot of media have this standard "many things forming into a big humanoid" monster. I am glad Halo chose a more unconventional design, and also even used them for Scarabs
Banished hunters in HW2 seem to have a lot more individuality than their covenant counterparts, so I hope we get this in halo infinite. Along with their traditional fuel rods, they could use a belt-fed automatic spike cannon to fit with the theme.
I sure am excited for the Banished Hunters, I'm gonna assume that you'll encounter fuel rod/plasma burst hunters on some bases, while beam hunters and possibly goliaths on vital bases. And oh my god I hope we get a colony boss battle.
cant wait to see the jackle video. hell, id love to see some more regarding vehicles and even unsc marines as well. most people just tend to explain the lore behind it all, but never really go in depth into the anatomy like you do. its pretty great
"...and make you go, 'aw, shit…' when you encounter one." So true if the hunters in Reach. I still remember the first time I had to deal with them. I didn't find the rocket launcher so I thought I had to kill them with a shotgun. I nearly up and quit when I finally found the launcher.
On legendary there menace the 2 in tip of the spear that guard the AA gun always gave me trouble due to the fact their in amazing position and your pretty much slap out of ammo by the time you reach them. The night club ones to in new Alexandria were also rediclosely overpowered. When I did reach on legendary I felt that oh shit moment. I was genuinely scared to fight them because I knew I couldn't just one tap them like in previous games.
Loving this series dude, please do Jackals next because I think they are kinda underrated and possibly the most freaky species in the covenant. I know the series is unofficially called 'The Evolution of Halo's Covenant' but I would love to see some evolutions of UNSC, Flood, maybe some Vehicles across the series.
I forgot to add, but because of the increase in burst duration, if the hunter repeatedly tries to fire at you, the shots won't stack, but the durations will overlap, creating EVEN LONGER "bursts"
The banished hunter from HW2 are definitely the best from a design standpoint. And they gave us more variations of the hunters. Hopefully we get to see them in Infinite.
*Hunters in Halo Infinite* "Oh I see the big blue duo is back and they are as hard to kill as they were in Reach" Red Hunters: [menacing victorious laughter]
Honestly, the Hunters from Halo 5 to me, is a sign that the Hunters are learning as the years go by in-universe. They're learning the tactics used by Spartans and are countering them to the best of their ability. Swatting away grenades and rockets? Improved accuracy with their weapons along with having a second firing mode for Long-Range? Pulling their shields up, heck even dodging heavy weapon shots? These guys are definitely getting smarter and I like it!
Halo 3 is my favorite aesthetically. Seventh grade, it was a good year. Their improvements in H2 had me so fascinated that by the third game to build on that was mind boggling. The armor was beautifully detailed. Something that was well above all the other species. The worms moved nicely. The back and forth between them as they adjusted and maneuvered. The noises in between shots, although eventually annoying and repetitive. They were the top appearance wise. Sharp. On the first encounter I could see why they’re dropped as equipment the way they marched in and lit it up. If they were matched with the aggression and durability of H5 I think they’d be perfect.
I love the Hunters. I think they’re tied with the Elites for my favorite Covenant species. I like how throughout the games we still don’t know what they’re saying, unlike the Elites. They remain a bit of a mystery even with the lore we know about them. I also like that they laugh at you sometimes
If I'm not mistaken, the reason why the Magnum and Sniper Rifle are both one shot kills to CE Hunters is because for some reason their backs were somehow considered "head" hitboxes. Thus, any shot from those weapons are technically "headshots". You can sorta see this by turning on scoring and going into a CE level with hunters. MCC still registers this as a headshot and gives you the headshot medal.
Very cool video. The Hunters have been my favorite of Halo's many creatures since I was a kid playing _Halo: Combat Evolved_ back on the original Xbox way back twenty years ago. The idea of a hive-mind cluster of worms forming a colony that is far stronger and more intelligent than the sum of its constituent parts is really cool, and their unique design with the fuel rod cannon, heavy shield, and those distinctive spines - not to mention their sheer size - makes them really stand out even in a game full of already eye-catching aliens. I can't wait to see how they look in _Halo Infinite._ I'm definitely subscribing and checking out your other videos.
Currently the Halo Infinite Hunters are my favorite in the whole series, they absolutely make you think on your feet and are incredibly intelligent, very fast paced fun
@@futurelama5123 Takes some getting used to, but I don't think it's unavoidable bullshit. I like that they're a legit threat, not just because they take a lot of damage.
Lame and annoying but I think they deserve some sort of video appreciating their designs and place in the combat. (Excluding halo 2 legendary sniper jackals)
Nice to know that Halo 5 Hunters are naturally OP and aggressive, I thought I just sucked facing them. They’re especially annoying in one particular map in Warzone Firefight when they’re the bosses for the final round. What makes them difficult is that they spawn in the garage you spawn in at the start of the game, making the option of just blasting them with a Scorpion, Wraith, or Mantis almost impossible as its difficult to get a clear shot at them. Which means you often have to get up close in personal, and that makes you an easy target for the Hunters and the dozen other Grunts, Jackals, and Elites alongside them to shoot at you.
I had the same issue but try this Any type of gravity Hammer or Extremely powerful explosive(Enough to Launch them in the air) the strongest Overshield Power up you can and wait for one of your Teammates to Grab their attention, Once their facing away, Wait for the hunter to go near the edge and use the Hammer or Rockets to Throw it over the ledge and down to where the Tanks can shoot it, also Splash weapons so you don't have to hit their armor, Just shoot Behind their legs
@@Captianmex1C0 I have done the Gravity Hammer/Overshield combo against those Hunters on several occasions. But I really only did it when I had no way of harming them with any sort of vehicle. I don’t remember if I was ever able to knock them off the ledge so that the other players in vehicles have a clear shot at them, but that’s actually a good strategy though. What are some weapons with splash damage that I can use that could use to better push them off the ledge?
The Halo 5 hunters were the best part of the campaign and I absolutely loved the Ultra look. Like the Elite and Grunt Ultras, I've always wanted to see hunter ultras even though they're called "Swarmlords."
i'm confused at around 25:00 you said the flaps don't move, but the clip before hand the first/second shot(s) the flaps DO move, is this just because of the movement animation?
I found odd that they never had a massive redesign by 343, based on the fact that a redesing can be easily justify by been a colony of worms, good that they didn't redesing them tho. I also wanna point out that the newer shields are the classic difficulty shield, big detail that I recently noticed.
My favorite Hunter is 2's. They're stronger than CE's but not strong enough to hold up the player for very long in their sections. They mesh well when paired up with other enemies like in Regret with a sort of tank support role. I think 3's are designed the best and fit their intended role better but I much prefer 2's iteration for having a fun time with them. Also, having the Hunters on your side in that section on 2 was super badass.
I like to think that the hunters actually evolve, not as upgraded gameplay, in CE, they can be one shot, not as a game mechanic, but as a first experience, then they learn that if they cover their… spine? They won’t die instantly. And they learn to talk and strategize in 2, so they actually *evolve* well, that’s what I like to think Also, idk why, but one of my favorite things to do in halo, is just to unload ammo on hunters, even if I know it barley does any damage, there just very satisfying to shoot
Infinite really made them scary as well. They're a force to be reckoned with, moving faster and being far more lethal than Bungie's iterations. I don't think that they're too hardcore, though.
What's your favorite Hunter and why? Should I cover the Jackals next? Let me know down below. Thanks for watching!

In CE, you can partly see that their right hand is slotted into it, but in Halo 2 as Arbiter, you can clip your POV inside the AC and see the Hunter's right claw inside the cannon. H3 was the first game where the whole arm was turned into a cannon. Which, wouldn't it be interesting if they could have held different weapons?
i'm still disappointed that halo 3 didn't have friendly hunters with gauss guns from the gausshogs
@@VimyGlide jesus christ, imagine fighting that nightmare.
i am glad they moved away from the "arms" thing though.
In SPV3, the Hunters have Minor, Major, and Spec-Ops ranks, all of which have different weapons.
Laughs in Halo Infinite hunters. They are disgustingly strong.
Yeah but you only encounter them like 4 or 5 times
We need an evolution of the marines!
From marines in the bungie games to airsoft players in halo 4 and 5
Halo 2 marines >>>>
My thoughts exactly!
@@ewanayres9576 lmaoooo exactly 😂🤣
No we need more johnsons
I sure am excited for the Banished Hunters, I'm gonna assume that you'll encounter fuel rod/plasma burst hunters on some bases, while beam hunters and possibly goliaths on vital bases.
And oh my god I hope we get a colony boss battle.
I still need justice for my goliath boys :'(
Hunters before they melee: “Lord let us pray the pimps prayer...”
9:08 I don't know if it's my imagination or what but to me, the hunter mumbles sound like this:
"Ayo wtf!"
"Yo watchu want?"
"Come on man, Come on"
"halo 4's hunters are the least memorable hunters in the series"... I legit don't even remember seeing a hunter in halo 4
There’s a pair in Ivanoff station right around the point where you get the maneuvering booster jets.
There is a achievement to get them to fall off of a bridge like area. I got it randomly playing co op with a friend years ago.
I don't remember a single moment of Halo 4. Just remember it was total trash & 99% of game I was stuck fighting those stupid fucking boring robots
@@whitephillip6997 I remember roughly some scenes were good, but arguably halo 5 has diminished halo 4's importantance
I only remember the ones near the beginning of the game. Only one pair.
cant wait to see the jackle video. hell, id love to see some more regarding vehicles and even unsc marines as well. most people just tend to explain the lore behind it all, but never really go in depth into the anatomy like you do. its pretty great
"...and make you go, 'aw, shit…' when you encounter one."
So true if the hunters in Reach. I still remember the first time I had to deal with them. I didn't find the rocket launcher so I thought I had to kill them with a shotgun. I nearly up and quit when I finally found the launcher.
Shotgun in reach is my go to, especially in the night club in new alexandria. especially on legendary, DMR/Shotgun is the GOAT combo for me.
@@cdyfoltz1 I just skip the legendary fight altogether with the DJ easter egg in New Alexandria.
@@delaney6413 Im a masochist, I love that fight on legendary.
You missed that halo 5 hunters also have a longer burst of the tracking bolts when enraged
I forgot to add, but because of the increase in burst duration, if the hunter repeatedly tries to fire at you, the shots won't stack, but the durations will overlap, creating EVEN LONGER "bursts"
My favorite covenant race. I loved every moment they appeared in CE and H2 when I was a kid.
The h5 hunters remind me so much of the ones in forward unto dawn, bringing an insane amount of fear whenever you see them
As a fan of the Hunters I loved seeing them in Halo 5 as some kind of mini-bosses, and those animations when forming, just amazing :D
I didn't know ces hunters spikes twitched when they do their idle animation.
The banished hunter from HW2 are definitely the best from a design standpoint. And they gave us more variations of the hunters. Hopefully we get to see them in Infinite.
Imagine waiting for this video since the Elites and being late to it by 4 hours
Imagine being alive
*Hunters in Halo Infinite*
"Oh I see the big blue duo is back and they are as hard to kill as they were in Reach"
Red Hunters: [menacing victorious laughter]
In Halo Reach, Hunters perform a barrel-roll out of the spirit drop ship
“ do a barrel roll”
This should be top comment
Thank you for making this series, great work! I vote for Jackals next :)
I can't wait to see how they look in _Halo Infinite._
I'm definitely subscribing and checking out your other videos.

You spelt that shit right bro
Twice
Currently the Halo Infinite Hunters are my favorite in the whole series, they absolutely make you think on your feet and are incredibly intelligent, very fast paced fun
When a new video release I always feel a rush of excitement. Now I hope he eventually covers the flood or the boys and girls in green.

I watch your videos at work to help pass the time. I love learning about the history of the Covenant and the extended universe.
I think my ideal Hunters would combine Halo 5's gameplay with their H2A appearance.
Why do people like 5 hunters it's just unavoidable bullshit how.....
@@futurelama5123 Takes some getting used to, but I don't think it's unavoidable bullshit. I like that they're a legit threat, not just because they take a lot of damage.
I remember playing the demo for Halo:CE and I was so terrified of these things that I didn't want to go any further than when you first meet them
Can you do the jackals, I would like to see it
They’re lame!
Lame and annoying but I think they deserve some sort of video appreciating their designs and place in the combat. (Excluding halo 2 legendary sniper jackals)
Okay hosers 🗿

I had the same issue but try this
Any type of gravity Hammer or Extremely powerful explosive(Enough to Launch them in the air) the strongest Overshield Power up you can and wait for one of your Teammates to Grab their attention, Once their facing away, Wait for the hunter to go near the edge and use the Hammer or Rockets to Throw it over the ledge and down to where the Tanks can shoot it, also Splash weapons so you don't have to hit their armor, Just shoot Behind their legs
They're just homing bullshit like every other enemy in the game
I love the Hunters and Elite's, by far my favourite aliens. Loved Halo 2 playing as The Arbiter.
5's Warzone and animations made me fall in love with H5 hunters
glad it wasn't just me
The Halo 5 hunters were the best part of the campaign and I absolutely loved the Ultra look. Like the Elite and Grunt Ultras, I've always wanted to see hunter ultras even though they're called "Swarmlords."
One thing you didn't mention about the Halo 2 hunters is that the turret on Outskirts completely annihilates them.
Wake up honey, EBR upload!
Halo infinite Red Armor hunters are fucking insane. be interested to see your thoughts on them added to this now that that's out.

i'm confused at around 25:00 you said the flaps don't move, but the clip before hand the first/second shot(s) the flaps DO move, is this just because of the movement animation?

hunters used to give me anxiety when I was a kid, I can recall many times hitting my power button on the pc because I was scared lmao.
This man can't disappoint us!!
This is my new favorite channel.
I found odd that they never had a massive redesign by 343, based on the fact that a redesing can be easily justify by been a colony of worms, good that they didn't redesing them tho.
I also wanna point out that the newer shields are the classic difficulty shield, big detail that I recently noticed.
God I wish Johnson had some "Now I'm GLAD I opened THAT can of worms!" type of quote. Maybe he says it with cowbell skull on
Imagine a battle between Halo:Reach Hunters and Halo 5 Hunters
One will be the Alpha Hunter, the other the Beta Hunter.
Until Halo Infinite Hunters beat both of their asses.
Halo reach have got to be the most strongest and terrifying hunters I have ever faced.
Halo Wars 2 Hunter Captain is my favorite hunter design!

Reach Hunters: terrifying
5 Hunters: horrifying
Infinite Hunters: horrifying +3
Red Hunters: dear god
DUDE YES, A NEW VIDEO
I now have nightmares of me going against 10 of the halo 5 hunters with only a shotgun with 4 shells left
Halo infinite Hunters are absolutely terrifying, change my mind.
Worth the wait!
Also I didn’t know the worms had an animation in Halo 3
@@cruzikin3116 neither did I
Awesomeguy 101 I knew they did in Reach, but not 3. When I saw the animation, it actually grossed me out a bit
I like to think that the hunters actually evolve, not as upgraded gameplay, in CE, they can be one shot, not as a game mechanic, but as a first experience, then they learn that if they cover their… spine? They won’t die instantly. And they learn to talk and strategize in 2, so they actually *evolve* well, that’s what I like to think
Also, idk why, but one of my favorite things to do in halo, is just to unload ammo on hunters, even if I know it barley does any damage, there just very satisfying to shoot
the comabt has evolved
The hunters are 10 FT tall but how wide are they? Lol great video EBR!
Infinite really made them scary as well. They're a force to be reckoned with, moving faster and being far more lethal than Bungie's iterations. I don't think that they're too hardcore, though.
The new addition of full auto fire for their fuel rod guns is also the biggest jump in power they've gotten since 3
