I saw your video and it was a great explanation of what you have and how it works, I have the same generator and what I did instead of a manual transfer switch, I Installed a generlink meter, it is a very simple setup and it is just a new meter head that the power company installs and grounds , it has a waterprof 240 connection plug on the bottom of it , so your power operates normally until a power outage ,then you just run your 240 cord from the generator to the generlink ,you go in the house turn off all your breakers and then start the generator, then just turn on the breakers your using ,it's very simple and no electrician is needed and the power company connects it for you, we have a 3500 Sq foot house and had a tornado go thu this summer taking down 4000 poles in our area, we were without power for 1 week , It was 100 degrees daily so a bad time to not have power for everyone, I ran the AC all day and had it at 74, we ran our well for water and fridge ect in the daytime , but we kept things to a minimum, We made coffee every morning, and ran the micro wave ,and several items together without issues, one thing I never do is run my generator on gas, that way you won't have starting issues if it sits for a year and wasn't started, if you only run the generator on propane or natural gas you won't have starting issues. So I never run my generator on gasoline, I could get 5 hours of run time on 1 propane grill tank and had 6 to use. We used 3 grill tanks daily and then shut down the unit at night for 8 hours, I seen one weakness we had was propane, so I bought a 100 pound tank and 2 forklift tanks and now we can run a full day on the forklift tanks and 2 days on a 100 pound tank if needed. We have always prepared for a power outage and even if your power goes down 1 time for a entire day, a generator can be a life saver.
Thank You Sir, You have been a lot of help. I picked the same 13000 dual fuel duromax emergency power generator. All I have to get now is a start assist or soft start for my condenser unit outside to protect any surge while using generator. Also the soft start will extend the life of my condenser unit cause it cuts the start up amps in half. It helps to put less stress on the initial start when it turns on.I have a goodman g.s.z. three ton, have to find a match to hook into the start capacitor. We live in Alabama. This duromax should do well for my entire home in case of grid power loss. I already have a manual switch for isolating the use of the generator, so there will be no feed back into the incoming power lines from the grid. The soft start and start assist do the same, just different names.
