A homemade tv antenna made from 2 soda cans,cloth hanger and short coax cable with tv antenna connector.
This work only if there are free hd channels in your area.

I found this video. I almost didn't believe it. But as desperate as I was to have some kind of entertainment ( because i literally live in the middle of nowhere in the country on a ranch, which also brought my hopes down a bit) I made this antenna just like the video . I couldn't believe it. I got 11 channels as clear as cable tv. This is an amazing antenna, thank you so much for the idea. IT REALLY WORKS even in the middle of nowhere!!! 😁

Can you please tell me how is it possible that this thing gets HD channels if you don't have a cabel plan? Does the signal get from other people? I would try this myself if it'd work
@@TheTruth-sd8ey So where you live, there is likely local channels being broadcasted within about a 65 mile radius of/from you. On a paid cable plan from DirectTV or Dish or something, you usually get all of the major big channels and like 200+ more, but through this method, you only get small channels like local news and stations that are not as well known as the big channels that cable TV usually has, plus this method only nets you about 40 channels at most compared to cable’s 200+ channels. Cable gives you pretty much any channel under the sun regardless of your location, whereas this method only gives you channels that are being broadcasted within 65 miles of you
I watched this video some days ago, today Oct 8 I made this antenna using Coke cans and I pick more channels that I expected. Now all channels are in My TV, Thanks, Juan from North Mexico (Monterrey)
Only problem with this is it eliminates Pepsi commercials!
thanks, didnt have the can so i just cut 2 inch pvc pipes to the size, wrapped it with foil, ran wire tru..it works gr8

I made one out of a screw on the end of a tv cable wrapped in tin foil and it works great 🤣
3 differences in mine: 1 I used Mountain Dew Kickstart. Slightly longer can. Two I used a 75 ohm transmitter to the can tabs and 3 I used a metal coat hanger. But man this antenna works awesome! It's my most trusted antenna out of the 6 antennas I have in my house!

@@joshuavincegascon5766 It should, don't see why it wouldn't. Just make sure they're the same size, those red bull cans are probably the best choice as it'll be easier to assemble

Thanks! I actually used a couple of tall boy aluminum cans, as well as metal tape and a metal clothes hanger.. Works like a charm!
Wait, if you use a metal cloth hanger, wouldn't you short the antenna?

it works and I took that design and build a interference shield with it. This is what I did. I took two rockstar cans and wrapped electrical tape on them to make a type of sliding plug into a pringles can that had both ends open. I added small metal plates on the pringles can to stop some interference when people walk in the room. it works but I would still maybe buy a digital tv antenna because they use a different material than aluminum and they claim to pick up all the channels.. but for a few channels .. sure and it needs to rotate to pick some of them up.
that antenna may be used in a router as a wifi antenna because it is a digital antenna but I don't know how good it would be...

my cable doesnt look like that tho, it has a silver mesh lining, then tin foil, then white then copper wire

FYI for everyone there is no such thing as an HD antenna. If you don't believe me take the time to look it up. There is UHF and VHF.

I use a paper clip in mine and get 7 channels from >20 miles away. Going to build a better one today

this works even better with the big energy drink cans like nos with removable caps and i added a antenna booster

Aluminum anything works best.....but the magic is an $10 antenna booster.

No signal with no antenna. OK signal with can-tenna. Seemingly same signal strength with RF cable only. For me, the attractive cans and coat hanger added nothing to the signal strength. Your mileage may vary.
If two cans work, what could you do with a 2-4???

Wouldn't this work better with a matching transformer to convert from 300 ohms of the antenna to 75 ohms that the cable requires? How much does not using a transformer degrade the gain?
