Bloody hell Tim remember a really bad winter about 1981 when the canal froze over and some of my mates went skating on it! I never had the bottle it still makes me shudder to think what might have been, also years ago a barge used to run from the canal basin halfway to Rotherham and back on sundays it had a bar on it and the trip lasted about 4/5 hours brilliant way to spend a relaxing afternoon .Thanks Tim you brought back some happy memories for me great video you are right it really is good to get out in the fresh air 👍
Morning Jon been upgrading to fibre. That barge still runs as far as I know. The next bit of the canal could be more interesting as I get into Rotherham. Best Tim
I've been down there myself all the way from sheffield center before .you can carry on to Rotherham via the don or back to sheffield via don river five weirs walk . Just need a good pair of boots if you have heavy rain as I've found that out myself .those expensive trainers are no good in such weather :)
I think its along way away, I am sure I saw Tinsley marshalling yards driving up the Parkway to the M1, so I reckon two miles away. This goes right under the Tinsley viaduct.

Cheers Tim,hope that the Rotherham path is ok so I can take my disabled wife on the walk !!
I will let you know. I am going to come back by the road as I have heard Rotherham have wasted money along Sheffield Rd putting in cycle paths.
