    the thing i dislike about pinterst is that most of the art in my feed is reposted without credit, whereas other social medias like twitter or instagram most of the content comes directly from the artist

      I think that's what's nice about posting on pinterest. you don't have to worry about someone reposting it as much because you already posted it. plus, there's a search option that will pull up artworks exactly like it. if you already posted yours and someone reposts it, you can easily find it.

    you should really give tumblr a try! i like it most because it's similar to the perks of pinterest you described - my posts take like a year to get completely stale and even then i still get some engagement every once in a while. not only that, you can get thousands of notes with literally zero followers. and contrary to pinterest, there is a HUGE culture on tumblr with reblogging posts and adding comments to it via the tag system! ive never had that much vocal engagement with my art as when i posted on tumblr

      The thing that must be stated when suggesting Tumblr to artists is: it mostly only works if you're creating fanarts. Tumblr has a huge fandom culture, but for anything that isn't based on already well known media, tags aren't going to help much

    I was a very active pinterest artist back then and theres an underground community of pinterest artists out there!
    They usually come together in a community pin board where they all share their art together there
    They're kinda hard to come by since you can only find them being advertised in some art relate posts (where they share links or probably something along the lines of dming them to join or something) but its super fun! I find the community to be quite tight knit there

    I only use Pinterest as a reference/inspiration website. It doesn't emphasize engagement enough for me, and like you said, the frequent re-posts without credit. What I want the most for my art is for people to talk about it or ask questions. I find Tumblr is the best for this. I would use Twitter, but that place has become more of a hell site. Everybody is a second from exploding into a pointless drama. Better to stay cozy on Tumblr.

    Especially when Google and other search engines have been dying because of them jam-packing their alghorithms with lazy AI results and images, making it impossible to find literally anything, Pinterest and Tumblr are such saviors when it comes to finding art and any image, backgrounds, ideas, etc. I know this is super obvious, but I think nowadays these two apps have been the most artist-friendly and haven't turned into what a lot of other social media platforms have. I recently just started an art Pinterest account and a art yt channel (this one) and I’ve been doing honestly not as good as I thought , when I first saw this video I was so uplifted that Pinterest IS a good place to post art bc I’ve heard sm rumors saying how it sucks yet I see a bunch of successful artists on there w only a few pins. I think for sure I’ll keep trying and not give up , I’ve made a goal to get to 1k followers by the end of the year though , so I’m hoping I’ll reach that ! I’ve seen a bunch of artists get their art stolen like especially a really popular one soyboysel (idk if you know them but they have rlly good art!) and as much as I’m worried abt if my art will ever get stolen I guess I’ll see when I get to that point. again , thank u sm for making this video and rlly helping me a lot ! It has the engagement over time and followers actually increasing ur number of impressions. theres less art theft, there are comments and reblogs which let others give u feedback, and u can even have multiple easily accesible blogs for posting different types of art, having a personal blog, or whatever else you want -- and its easily accesible to you and to followers. ALWAYS watermark your art. because it probably will get reposted on pinterest if you're popular enough . and if you recognise an artist on pinterest always credit them. not only that but there's currently a huge problem of bot accounts stealing posts and linking them 2 sum sketchy article . ive had my posts stolen (not my art ones, thankfully) and the posts get pretty popular too. its awful . but otherwise i like it a lot!! great video :)

    As a Pinterest artist I can say it's great for beginner artists if they don't feel like starting out on Instagram or Tiktok (for obvious reasons) I've got like 790 followers but my pet peeve is that I get noticed for the memes I post and comments i leave frequently WAY more than my actual art💀 Don't get me wrong I appreciate it but COME ON why does a stupid pic i posted of a 3d printed amogus with the rock face have 2 thousand saves while my art gets 5 saves at most lmaooo

What a new take for me, but it's something I wish I had thought of years ago! It really is a nice and easygoing platform to post on, and starting to post on there before anyone else takes your art and does it instead is a good idea.

    Pinterest is known for stealing people's art and even if you try to report it being stolen it's very hard to do, that's why i don't think it's a good idea to post your art there and mostly use it for references that is useful to artist, best places to post art are, tumblr, inkblot, and kofi.

    Thanks so much for this video! I didn't even consider pinterest because 1. I know this app as a place where every single art is stolen 2. People in the comments hate a lot. I don't wanna do commisions, but I just wanna draw my silly little ships because NO ONE ships it and I wanna create at least some content for it, and I didn't know what platform to use. If I leave watermarks and try to ignore hate comments maybe I can do it! I'll be using pinterest and tumbl from now on! I'm so glad this popped up on my youtube page.

    hot take, but like.. i disagree with the idea that pinterest is better solely because of the way your account grows and the way people can interact with your posts on there (which was my main takeaway from the video, at least)!
    i think there’s a specific focus on numbers and likes in this video that i have to disagree with; like yes, it is so fun and gratifying to see your work be recognized and loved, but falling into the trap of only caring about those things is a self-fulfilling prophecy for a bad relationship with art. and it’s also not the only reason to use social media to post your art!
    i do love pinterest because of how peaceful and passive it is, but i also dislike it because of the way it discourages artists on there from connecting with each other. only focusing on “growth” and less on connecting with others on that platform is the #1 gripe i have with it (whether that be because of the art theft, or just the lack of artists who actually post on the platform). i would love to see that change though, especially if this video encourages others to join the app.
    love the video and pinterest, i just wanted to add onto the conversation! here’s to hoping the artist community on there grows!

    • @zepn1
      @zepn1  11 месяцев назад +4

      Interesting to hear your take! In my personal experience, I've had pretty positive interactions on the platform through comments and as I said, an increased brand awareness which carried out to my other platforms. My focus on metrics comes from my background in marketing! I don't mean to come off as callous when I discuss art from a business perspective, but for artists who are looking to pay their bills with a social media presence- growth and making those numbers can be quite important, especially when you put so much work into creating something tou want people to see! I'd love to see a more intrinsic take from your perspective considering you are quite experienced with Pinterest! :D

    • @jouusta
      @jouusta 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@zepn1 i agree from a marketing standpoint, but without making that point clear i think this way of thinking could be harmful to younger artists who are looking to social media as a form as validation, instead of a form of income. perpetuating the idea of a “sweet dopamine rush” and only looking at growth strategies just rubbed me in the wrong way in that regard.
      i understand people have to pay the bills and this is definitely good advice for how to market yourself on there, i think i just viewed this video in a different light than originally intended. to each their own!
