Well.. you quite literally have to use a cheat to get it. So is spamming motherlode "in the game"? So it is cheating, but I also don't see any issue with it since I don't see why those things are locked away anyway when it comes to landscaping. I can't stand having landscaping options by default that aren't anything of what you actually see in the world.. I don't want a tree on my lot that looks different than the tree just outside of my lot.. it looks weird.
@@Eventide215 Yes. Precisely why I feel like this kind of cheating doesn't feel like cheating. It's more like accessing things that were supposed to be in the game anyway. Does it help us that they are free when you do challenges like this or starter homes? Yes, for sure! That is a bit like cheating but to be honest if that's how they chose to price (or not even price) these items... 🤷🏻♀️ Not gonna say no, lol.
@@cookieinthejar7857 I always feel like the price is an oversight since we weren't ever *meant* to have access to that catalog, so in that regard I'm always on the fence about if I feel it's cheating or not. Though either way it's not like it matters too much if you're just doing landscaping and such.. it doesn't affect you Sims just makes it easier to look at the lot lol

@@missundies The only reason we're allowed access is because they released the cheat. It's "debug" for a reason.. it's meant to be seen only by the dev team. We got access because people constnatly complained about not being able to use the same things the devs can in the world. Literally all they did by adding debug as a cheat is give us access to a dev thing.. we aren't meant to have it.
You should try to build a house with a outrageously expensive budget, and then you'll have to use EXACTLY that budget to build a house

Imme Zander I did this once and boy it sucked. I build starter homes so 300,000 was a lot. I put it in willow creek and went to work making a mansion that matches it neighbors but green. I played in it before uploading so it lost a lot of value before I uploaded it

I'm not that great at building......
I got better at building on games from watching a lot of these style of videos. This applies to Sims, Minecraft, etc. Typically when you get better at one you get better at another too which is neat.
@Franky Hathaway Likely what you need to start doing is making more interesting walls. Try not to have each room just a box - take corners and make them angled walls and such. Maybe try switching things up.. like if you always build open floor plans try to add halfwalls somewhere to break up the room. Or try building a hallway and decorating it. These things, while serving no actual use, make it a lot more visually interesting. Also, make sure you're not building symmetrically.. while you *think* it might look good, it almost always becomes boring to look at almost instantly.
Another thing you could do is try random shape challenges like Simsie has done. It helps you realize how you can use walls differently. Like try building a house in the shape of a star.. See what you can do with that interior.
I like to build one shell and use it for the whole neighborhood while making each build unique. Makes you think outside of the box and challenges you to get more creative with your build skills.
@@sarahmarble7209 That does help as well, but it can get a bit samey even with a great builder. Build challenges are a great way to start learning how to build better for the same reasons. It makes you build something different and think differently as a result. Shell challenges really help with that too since you got the exterior already, it's just about how to make it look good and work well.

Personally, I don't find 'debug' for landscaping that cheaty. Maybe for furniture, a little. But for landscaping? Not really. There's a lot of things you can do to get plants/trees/rock for free in real life too. Native trees you can find by going out and finding seedlings/young trees and replanting them (yes, this does take awhile for it to grow up, but you obviously can't dig up a mature tree and move it. At least not for free. I think its possible nowadays, but its a MAJOR deal.). Same with flowers. And native grasses put out seeds that can be collected and planted. For more domestic plants, there are often people in the community who will freely give clippings or seeds from their plants so you can put them in your own garden without destroying anything. Rocks and such can be collected almost anywhere. Maybe not in big loads, but how many rocks do you need in your yard anyway? (a load of gravel or something is another thing entirely. But yeah. Thats not a starter-home thing anyway)
So, yeah. I think it makes sense. Granted IRL you can't get 'fully established flowering plants' for free so easily...but the Sims doesn't have plant growth anyway, so...yeah.

I would like to see how this house would look and function if you actually had more money. Like to see what you could actually create with this concept, with more funding.
It would be cool to see a 10K (or 20K) starter home for each Expansion pack to see how far the money would go. Like the Eco Lifestyle one would be so much more decorated than say the Dine Out because the pack items are so much cheaper.

Kayla, you can add doors to roof walls as long as they are taller than the door and the roof itself is arched. However you have to fake delete the walls for the door to be functional. Then you can have additional rooms on a small budget.

So i have an build challenge idea.
"DISCLAIMER" -> I don't know if somebody done this before, so don't @me pls!
So I thought that you could search on pinterest for pictures of every room (living room, bathroom etc) and the exterior of the house. And than you take a number generator (maybe from 1-10/20) and than you have to recreate the room that the generator picks. So you just count the pictures and the e.g 4th picture you need to recreate. That you do for all rooms and the exterior. You can do more than e.g one bedroom, but need to generate a number again.
I hope you understand what I mean 😅

If youre REALLY bored, you can always just ruin their lives. Make them cheat, accidental pregnancy, someone dies, stuff like that is always fun. Then you have to somehow fix everything again.
Add in some mods that add to the realism like Slice of Life. It adds a lot of randomness and makes things much more enjoyable to play. As for what to do next, I'd say stick to their personality.. play the Sim, not play for them to be perfect. Which I find is a common issue people have then realize their gameplay has become stale. They play a sim, create them all the same, etc then it just becomes boring.
If they’re just boyfriend and girlfriend, you could always marry them and possibly let them have a kid, maybe move them into a bigger house, stuff like that

This is a fun challenge! It might be cool to see a series ($3k, $4k, $5k, etc.) and see at what point you can afford to have a second bed, a sink, a separate bedroom, seating, etc.
I stg the next building challenge is i only had $5 to build in the sims lmaoo
kayla should've done the trick where you just place 2 roofs on both ends and just drag the eaves - that way you'll have extra space (albeit marked as outside, not a room) and you can even turn it into a skylight

Build challenge idea : always get the same cheap house and get random " updates" . Like in the game when you get a lot of money you revamp the house and you could do it in 5 parts with every time small random amounts and see where it takes you ?

New Challenge idea: Make a house where you can use objects as often as you want, as long as they are the same object and swatch. For example,You put these cute kitchen counters in your kitchen, and you want to mix things up a bit and put some cc counters in your bathroom, nope if you want to use a counter you have to use the same counter and swatch in the bathroom. All wallpapers must be the same, but you can use separate one for the exterior if you would like. All windows and doors must be the same item, swatch and size, and all flooring must be the same this includes the kitchen and the bathrooms. All bedroom beds must be the same swatch, and size (if you have a single person bed, you cannot have a double bed this also applies to toilets it’s either toddler potties or a regular toilet 😊) choose wisely because you only get one type of rug with the same swatch. Oh, and did I mention no moveobjects or sizing up and down your objects. You have 16,000 simoleons. GET READY, SET, GO

This project with only 5000 simoleons whould be a beauty! Using debug for embellish the lot you would create a beautiful house, maybe using off grid forniture It would be more interesting, my opinion
In debug, they have the trash chute from University, they also have the CL apartment mailbox. I always use those items. It saves me a lot of money, and there is an item from JA, one of the outdoor toilets is free and you can take a shower and to to the bathroom. I wish I can remember what it is called, but I think it is either in debug or the live edit objects

You should do a challenge where you try to use the most expensive or least expensive things, but you have to try and make it nice so you have like a choice of the 3 most expensive or least expensive things. I’d really wanna know if you could make it look as good as your regular builds!
I really cheat when I do these types of challenges, I just use a gabled roof piece as my house, with the curve adjusted all the way out to make the most usable floor space. And maybe a 2x2 bathroom attached to the back, if I can afford it, to take advantage of the micro home perks.

The little evergreen tree from Vampires is only 1 simoleon and has a green version, so it’s good for using up that last bit of change or having a tree without using debug.
“They can’t get back here” - Sims will walk through debug items, such as the fake fence.

I feel like this is actually a better version of your previous “Roof house” and it wouldn’t even be terrible with no sink because you would only need to pay for a sink after your first paycheck or 2

I've been trying for about half an hour to work out how to recreate this triangle roofing without the top two clipping each other? It's like your roof placements are different to mine!!
Build challenge: Placing furniture BEFORE building the walls. (Second stories count as long as there are no walls before stuff is placed) No furniture is allowed to be moved from the place it was put.
This is a really creative challenge I enjoyed it a lot. I was wondering if you would consider doing a challenge where you take a legacy starter house and do the add-ons as the person gets more money so maybe four builds all together the starter home lower mid-level income mid-level income and higher income? I always struggle with this when I’m doing a legacy challenge my houses look unplanned and have no resemblance to the original home. They become awkward! I would love to see how you face this challenge. It would inspire me when I’m building my own houses.
Challenge rules;
1. Build a starter home for 2000
2. The second home can have a 20000 simolian budget
3. Third home. A 40,000 simolian budget
4. 4th home an 80,000 simolian budget
5. The first starter home walls cannot be moved deleted but must stay throughout all of the builds. Each consecutive add on the outside walls need to stay for the rest of the builds.
6. The housing style must stay the same .

I forgot to add that if you use a roof for a wall in the beginning of the challenge you can change that out for a regular wall.
For next time the sunscreen from island living is 8 simolenis, and there’s items in debug worth 1 simolen so you could have spent 9 simolenis that way ☺️👍🏻
