    Insane knockdown power!
    Roy would approve 👍
    That bear's reaction after being hit(and a quick death) must have raised the adrenaline to a level 10!!
    A great hunt

    Seems like most hunters have no idea about caliber for game. 257 weather by is tons for black bear! I have killed half a dozen with my .243 one shot, all travelled less then 50 meters. Over bait like this a 30 30 with 150 grain core locks puts them down with one shot also. My biggest was 365 lbs without hide or head and minus left front leg. Complete pass through with 95 grain non lead Barnes in my 243. Weatherbies are are awesome,definitely a step up in velocity. Awesome harvest and bear is soooo delicious!

      I like woods shooting (with bolt rifles), but I don't even need a animal to shoot, only having the gun and playing on the woods is enough for me.

    Been thinking about getting a 257 , I been using my 300 wby for 25 years, its a jack hammer. But I want a new toy so I'll order me one. Congrats on the bear.

    Not the most obvious choice of chamberings for this particular use but it does show that with a reliable bullet and good shot placement, even a less than ideal scenario can have a happy ending.

      When bear hunting by yourself always have an adequate size pistol of 44 caliber shooting the proper monolith bullets or bigger for back up

      I'm needing a new rifle. Thinking about 25-06 or 257 for deer. Any suggestions??? And how is the recoil of the 257 compared to a 25-06?????

    • @highplainsdrifter9631
      @highplainsdrifter9631 5 лет назад

      @@chrish9486 A few factors to consider. Are you strictly hunting deer and deer size game like pronghorn and sheep/goats? The .25-06 would work just fine. Or are you going to take it out after caribou, elk, and moose? This is where the extra speed and power of the Weatherby will be noticed and appreciated. Obviously the .25-06 has killed the bigger animals and will continue to do so, but the quarter bore is on the smaller side for the larger members of the deer family, and I like to think of the extra power of the .257 Bee as extra insurance. If you only buy factory ammo, the .25-06 will be cheaper to shoot. If you roll your own, then the 257 Bee costs considerably less to shoot vs buying factory ammo. Both are stylish and cool, as not everyone hunts with a quarter bore, but while the .25-06 is great and isn't common, the .257 Weatherby Magnum has more panache, and it was also Roy Weatherby's favorite cartridge. There are lots of good bullets for both, but the super velocities of the 257 Bee practically demand strong bullets. FWIW, I've never owned a .25-06 but I do own a .257 Bee. Recoil on both is very manageable, while the 257 Bee has some considerable muzzle blast. Unless you have a need for speed, I'd stick with the standard .25-06 Rem as it has been proven on game for decades. YMMV

      I'm wanting either a 257 Weatherby Mag or 25-06 for deer here in Missouri.....any thoughts???

    • @NCMirage257
      @NCMirage257  5 лет назад +2

      Depends how far you plan to shoot in general. The wby is faster / flatter so it will reach out better, but unless you expect 300 - 500 yard shots fairly often you won't need the extra speed and the 25-06 will kill them just as dead. I have the wby because I hunt large fields in the east and out west where I want it as flat as possible.

      @@donarthiazi2443that depends on the age of the rifle and if it had the upgrade done to it.
      But its not just the 700 a lot of there older bolt guns had the same issue with tge safety. Taking it off could fire the rifle.

    That's one good shot right there, dead in 40 yards. I just took one too in the mountains of BC a couple weeks ago using a Weatherby Vanguard S2 in 30-06.
    I was on the fence about .257 or 25-06, for my next one, but after seeing this .257 is the one for sure.
    Mk V synthetic stock?

    • @Zaes223
      @Zaes223 9 лет назад +2

      +boulengerochromis At .40 yards on a bear a lot of calibers work, I personally have a .257 vanguard and a .300 mkV weatherby as my two hunting rifles.
      I use .257 for 500 yards and in on medium sized game and .300 for anything bigger under 500 and medium game past 500.
      I like the 110 vmax for the .257. For the .300 I like to use 165 SST for 300 yards and in and past that I use the Barnes 200 grain LRX.
      I am going to start experimenting on 1000 yard accuracy with my MkV .300 wthby mag I think I'll try 180 grain Bergers bullets I have been told they are extremely accurate. I wish my glass had more than 14x. Maybe I'll invest in some nice glass like Schmidt & Bender or Nightforce.
