Hi. Thanks for watching and commenting. You're absolutely right, I'm a big believer in building what makes you happy in the space you have available, not what others deem as prototypical. I really enjoy the design and building bits as it inevitably throws up problems that have to be solved. Cheers, John.
The Layout really looks superb, great running session at the end, all looks go, you have thought the design out really well, looking forward to seeing how it progresses from here, Best wishes for 2023, Colin.
Hi Colin. Thanks for watching and commenting. I'd been thinking about the redesign for a while, and wanted to make sure it was done right. Just got a bit more complicated than I'd anticipated, but that's nothing new for my projects. Very pleased with the outcome and enjoyed getting all the trains running again. All the best to you for 2023 too. Cheers, John.
Hi John Lots of hard work which has worked out well and all running smoothly. Very nice running session at the end shows off the changes well. All the best for 2023 Cheers Kev
Hi Kev. Thanks so much for sticking with me whilst I wasn't posting regular videos, really appreciate it. It has worked out well and when I said I was too tired to deal with the bump it's cause I'd just finished crawling about under the tables doing the electrics. Very pleased with the way it's turned out and I've a much better view of the trains now. All the best to you for 2023. Cheers, John.
Hi Al. Thanks very much. Glad you like what I've done. Def worth the effort in my mind. Now looking forward to doing the scenic work on it. Cheers, John.
Hi John, glad to hear you enjoyed your adventure trip & good to see you back on the Tube. Nice move with the track extention, bigger loops = more running time, more scenery & also i bet you are glad you did it now before you started landscaping that side of the layout ! The bridges deffo look better that way round, you get to see both lines instead of the large bridge blocking out all the other lines. All the best for the New Year pal....Andy
Hi Andy. Thanks for your comments. Very glad I hadn't done the scenery yet, was enough hassle just raising the track and moving the upper level. I agree the bridges look far better now and it'll be good to see the other tracks disappear as if they are going somewhere else. All the best to you for 2023 too. Cheers, John.
Welcome back and Happy New Year, but, WOW, John! And I mean "WOW!!!" You don't do things by half, do you? That's almost a complete gut job from where you were a few months ago. It sounds like you are much happier, so it was worth it (I hope), and the two bridges are still my eye candy and have not been removed, so all is good for me on this side of the screen! lol Looking back, I realize I missed your last video somehow, so I will watch it as well, just to get a sense of how drastic this was. You did great work ,and it was just wonderful to hear you and see you on the layout again! Cheers and best wishes! Anthony
Hi Anthony. Thanks very much. My projects always end up growing arms and legs but this was definitely worth it. I was never getting rid of the bridges, but felt the blue one was lost and it's such a nice bridge I wanted it to be shown off. Happy New Year to you too and all the best for 2023. Cheers, John.
John John John that was a job and a half was it not?. I Think it was well worth all the effort and you seen to be a lot happier with the outcome. The running session was excellent and everything worked out well. Wishing you and your family a very Happy New Year and all best wishes for the future. Regards Tom
Hi Tom. Thanks so much for your lovely comment. It was a far bigger job than I anticipated but was well worth it as I'm very happy with the result. Much less cluttered feel to that end of the layout now. Was nice to have the running session and have all 6 lines working again. All the best for 2023. Cheers, John.
Hello John , well done , l look forward to seeing your scenery part of this project. Just a thought , seeing as you have extended the layout would it be possible to run with four , or even five coaches now. ?.....just a thought , cheers , Frank.
Hi Frank. Thanks for watching and commenting. I do have a couple of 4 coach trains on the layout. I've tried a 5 coach but it is too long and looks silly as it takes up most of the long side of the layout. Storage is also an issue as most of my sidings can only take 3 coach trains, but I may be able to extend a few of them now. Cheers, John.
Dear Sir, Yours is a great layout (i wish i had a loft), mine is just a wee bit over 2x1 metres. Just one question, for the benefit of us, english non speakers. Your accent is a challenge for me untrained ear. Where in the UK is it from? Scotland, i presume? Thanks and cheers from (happy again) Brazil!
Hi Eugenio. Thanks for watching and commenting. You are correct, it is a Scottish accent. 😁 Thanks for your kind comment about my layout, glad you like it. Cheers, John.
It appears, either from the layout design or the camera angles you chose, that running trains get rather too close to stationary ones to be at all realistic.
Hi Steve. Thanks for watching and commenting. A few of them do pass a bit close, but I'm not going for realism, I'm going for what I think looks good in the space I have and what works practically. Some of my inspiration is taken from the real world, but then I adjust it to fit the space. Cheers, John.
Awesome. Absolutely well done! This is what our hobby is all about. Designing, building, running, what we like!
