    Scott, that Wanderlodge sure took the hill in stride! Seemed not to know it wasn't on level ground. With your careful maintenance that unit with such low miles is going to be good for many years to come! He brought it to the right shop! Mega Kudos!

    They painted the rubber wheel shrouds on our 1989 WB just like this one, they end up cracking. When we painted the bus, we painted them with urethane Raptor Liner, which remains fairly flexible. They are holding up nicely 👍

    You have a heck of a good eyecrometer on that wheel bearing adjustment. Let us know what is going to be done with that spindle. Thanks for the video.

    Intersting that so many 21st century shops want to put multi-viscosity engine oils in 2 stroke Detroit bus/truck engines. 2 stroke / 1 viscosity

    • @BusGreaseMonkey
      @BusGreaseMonkey  День назад +9

      They just don’t know any better. 15w40 is their go to on just about everything

    • @edwardantrobusjr2253

      @@BusGreaseMonkey The funny thing with that, late model engines no longer use 15 W 40. My 23 Freightliner with a Detroit engine, uses 5 W 30. So you'd think a decent mechanic would look it up before making an assumption. 😢

    • @SA-bq1us

      So the replacement oil would rotella t1 straight grade sae 40 or something similar

    • @BusGreaseMonkey
      @BusGreaseMonkey  День назад +4

      Yes it’s an acceptable CF-2 rated low ash oil

    • @steffendhonau
      @steffendhonau День назад

      Can somebody please explain why multi viscosity oils are bad on those engines?
      As far as I know, if an old engine Cals for SAE 30 for example a modern 5W-30 should have the same viscosity at operating temperature as the sae 30.
      So if you measure the oil pressure and it's the same, why is it bad for the engine then?????

    These Wanderlodge buses were very expensive when new; Dad subscribed to RV magazines and they cost, when new, about as much as a house costs today. Very high end! And very low mileage! Glad this bus is getting the service it needs, it is better shape the the Prevost next to it.

      They are very complex in their rv system but quality all around b

      @@BusGreaseMonkey Wanderlodge buses had top quality furnishings and fitting in the interior as well as the Blue Bird chassis. This bus looks like it was well maintained, especially since it was very low mileage. It should be used more to keep everything in good condition as you stated letting them sit is not good, it leads to problems.
      The exterior looks rough, but that can be solved by a good body shop. Glad you are giving it the maintenance it needs!

    Dam an almost well maintained bus . Those wheel bearings ! Need to run a betting pool on when a bus with no maintenance will come to your shop . But yes even low milage vehicles need service .

    I suspect bearing issues from long periods of sitting catch up to vehicles in the south eastern states long before it would become such an issue in a place such as southern Arizona where the humidity is typically very low. I can see where grease used in non powered axle wheel bearings would be superior in such a humid climate. It will be interesting to see what the wheel bearings and condition of the oil is in the diff and hopefully if that has not been changed lately, that the owner will ok a fresh change of gear oil ( hopefully no surprises on the diff plug magnet ). Now the bus beside it, if you find anything in good condition in the drive line, THAT will be a shocker !.

    I know I have asked and watched a few videos where you have explained it. What does the straight 40 weight out have or not have that the 15w50 doesn't/does. Which is the reason your not supposed to use multi weight oil in these older Detroit's?
