I use a German made oil/wax that has a tiny bit of white in it, it protects and importantly maintains the timbers original tones, it's also food grade approved, the doves will love it! I hope the birds appreciate the time & effort put into their beautiful bird feeder, but I think the seeds are their only concern. Lovely markings on the dove/pigeons, wish ours in Melbourne were as pretty & not problem pests.
