I agree too. Of course, I think he's going on the premise of what sounds closer to the mic he uses for his voice overs. But to me, I think both the Blue Ice and his personal mic overdo it on the low end frequencies which ends up sounding a little too artificial. I don't know the guy, but I imagine that his voice really sounds like the way the Floureon reproduced it... which is probably why I found it sounding the best - it sounded accurate. Otherwise, don't worry OhhFree... we all have our preferences in sounds. It's like taste in that aspect... there is no wrong, there's just preferences.

ChipFrie123 the mic you linked is very similar to the toner...it only connects via a 3.5mm headphone jack so you can use it on consoles as well most likely but it also most likely won't be very good quality. The Floreon is very cheap rn bte
honestly thank you for this, this saved me from wasting 50$ on the snowball, i personally think the Neewer one sounds the best and the editing makes little difference
A noise gate is not noise reduction. A noise gate only keeps the input off until a volume threshold is reached, at which point normal noise will still get recorded.
I've got a slight issue with the way your tests were conducted, however I can still agree with the results to some extent. Basically, no two computers are equal in the way they handle the audio from the input line, also known as the microphone port. For instance, my mate had a laptop which he used to connect his headset to for when we gamed and his audio quality wasn't great. Then he upgraded to a full gaming rig and his quality significantly improved. And from my experience, software can also have an effect. Before I started using real mics for my channel and chat, I used a gaming headset (Corsair brand so it's good) with a 3.5mm Line Input and the audio quality was alright, then my harddrive died and I had to switch from Windows 7 to 10 and my audio quality changed significantly between the two. Obviously you won't have these issues if your using an interface or USB mic but I digress, these are factors that need to be considered
go to audacity have everything in a different layer (the video on one audio track and the real audio on another) keep like 1 or 2 secs just with the background noise select it and go to effects go to noise reduction and get noise profile, select everything and click in ok, thats it i hope it helped
Audacity as everyone recommends but if you use a condenser mic then try getting a phantom power supply which sometimes reduces the noise alot,An audio interface is basically what music producers and youtubers use and the cheap ones like UM2 aren't bad, also they are directly connectable with XLR cables. If you use Discord or something like that the noise removal there should allow for better audio quality most of the time unless your voice is lower than the noise or the noise gets picked up even when you talk over it
+SeyoxGFX i got mine for 50Pounds and i'm using the same boom arm which Edgar is using and i couldn't be happier PopFilter+BoomArm+Blue Snowball best audio setup :)
Usually computer motherboards have poor audio interface in them. Thats the thing you plug your headphones and mic in. An external audio interface like the scarlett 2i2 has better quality ADC or Analog(mic) to Digital(computer, bits and bytes) Converters and better DAC(digital to analog so to your headphones or speakers). External audio interfaces usually has higher sample rate (how many times a second a analog signal is converted to digital) and bit depth (how many bits of data per sample). Higher sample rate allows higher frequencys to be recorder but you really dont need to worry about that because most external audio interfaces can record well beyond human voice. Anything above 44khz is fine. Bit depth means how many levels there can be in sample. 16 and 24 bit is common and is fine usually. With higher bits you can have quiter quiet parts and louder loud parts in your recording. High bit depth allows noise floor to lower so less noise in recording so if you can go for 24 bit. Remember audio recording does not take as much space than video recording but higher sample rate and bith depth means it takes more disk space and computing power.
A better explanation. It's like a water filter. Water is fine to drink out of your sink, but most people will say it tastes a little better from the filter. There isn't a huge difference, but it does make it sound a little nicer.
No you're not, when you hear better mics you can clearly hear that difference. Plus the people that usually use Snowballs are smaller kids with annoying voices who don't know how to edit audio.
4:08 you put a picture of the blue snowball and said blue snowball when its actually blue snowball ice, and after that with the editing you said blue yeti lmao
Thanks! I bought the flourion mic for my other channel. Not very good at first. Wasn’t happy. After putting it through audacity though it’s decent for the price
An audio interface is a piece of equipment used to take an xlr or quarter inch microphone or any other audio source and convert it into a digital signal so that your computer can record the sound. Phantom power is a thing usually included on most audio interfaces which sends 48 volts to the microphone in order to make the microphone work best. If you use a microphone that requires phantom power without phantom power, you will get sound out of it but it will be very quiet.
+5Beans6 Good to know. Everyone seems to love the Blue Snowball mic but to me it sounds like one of the cheaper mics after being bluffed into phantom power. This review said the Snowball is pretty heavy. I'll bet it's just got onboard power. To me it sounds good, but for that price I could get a cheaper mic with a boom and phantom power for the same price.
I really LOVE the Floureon mic. I just bought mine and its on its way. Mine is a BM800 condenser mic btw. However, I do have one question. Is the floureon BM800 microphone different from a normal BM800 microphone? And did you use phantom power for the floureon mic?
Welcome to china my friend. BTW: condenser microphones need minimally 6.5v which if you have a desktop computer is achievable with 3.5mm jack so it will work, but not in it's full glory.
@@doomixVAL Yeah, it's like buying a GTX 2080TI and combining it with a core 2 duo. Get a budget audio interface like the behringer UMC22, it's like 40 bucks and will make even budget mics like these sound 10 times better.

If you can afford it go with the sennheiser PC363D it has amazing comfort, audio quality, microphone, and open ear design
Can I plug the b-800 directly into a zoom h1? Or do I need a preamp?
You shouldn't need a preamp
No! A condenser microphone requires 48V phantom power and the Zoom H1 doesn't provide this.
Obviously you won't have these issues if your using an interface or USB mic but I digress, these are factors that need to be considered
the floureon was the best
GrandMasterHalo I bought it for 28 dollars on amazon and it was absolutely horrible you could barely hear my voice
You need a phantom power supply for it to work properly. They are about £15 in the UK but I'm not sure about the US
Fat ok thx I'll buy one
swank nigga died or sumthin
LMAO XDDDDDD
Your voting system is more or less right. Though I would put the NW800 and BM800 as 2nd placer (tie)

DAYYYYYYUUUUM
Wow!!! This is the video I was looking for, I asked questions to my self and they were answered after. Thanks
can u make a vid on how to remove the background noise
go to audacity have everything in a different layer (the video on one audio track and the real audio on another) keep like 1 or 2 secs just with the background noise select it and go to effects go to noise reduction and get noise profile, select everything and click in ok, thats it i hope it helped
Audacity as everyone recommends but if you use a condenser mic then try getting a phantom power supply which sometimes reduces the noise alot,An audio interface is basically what music producers and youtubers use and the cheap ones like UM2 aren't bad, also they are directly connectable with XLR cables. If you use Discord or something like that the noise removal there should allow for better audio quality most of the time unless your voice is lower than the noise or the noise gets picked up even when you talk over it
Blue yeti? You got it wrong Ed :):)
4:15
+See Zzo Ya I screwed up a few times lol. I always wanna say Yeti since im used to that.

Can I use all condenser mic without phantom power supply? Pls reply
same question
Late, but you can use some condensers without phantom power, but it'll be very quite. And some can't be used without phantom power.
Can someone please explain to me with baby talk for dummies what a audio interface is?
There isn't a huge difference, but it does make it sound a little nicer.
i currently have a blue snowball mic and i recommend you use voicemod to take out some background sound and boom sounds better than ever.
This video was really good and detailed
Am I the only one that doesn't like the Blue Snowball?
Not just u lol
No you're not, when you hear better mics you can clearly hear that difference. Plus the people that usually use Snowballs are smaller kids with annoying voices who don't know how to edit audio.
4:08 you put a picture of the blue snowball and said blue snowball when its actually blue snowball ice, and after that with the editing you said blue yeti lmao
Thanks! I bought the flourion mic for my other channel. Not very good at first. Wasn’t happy. After putting it through audacity though it’s decent for the price
I got neeweer mic and it works okay but my friends sometimes can’t hear me so pass if you trying to buy better options out there
What editing software do you use Ed?
Is audio interface the same as phantom power?
An audio interface is a piece of equipment used to take an xlr or quarter inch microphone or any other audio source and convert it into a digital signal so that your computer can record the sound. Phantom power is a thing usually included on most audio interfaces which sends 48 volts to the microphone in order to make the microphone work best. If you use a microphone that requires phantom power without phantom power, you will get sound out of it but it will be very quiet.

Awesome thanks!
Also, DO NOT use phantom power on a microphone that does not need it as it could ruin the microhpone
+5Beans6
Good to know.
The blue snowball basically has an audio interface built into itself as its only output is a usb port, which he fails to mention in the video.
I really LOVE the Floureon mic. I just bought mine and its on its way. Mine is a BM800 condenser mic btw. However, I do have one question. Is the floureon BM800 microphone different from a normal BM800 microphone? And did you use phantom power for the floureon mic?
How do u remove background noise?
audacity
Use a unidirectional mic.
Yay I have the blue snowball
Not gonna lie, I heard no difference when the audio interface was used.
THANK YOU!! ive been trying to get a good cheap mic and this vid was super helpful
At 4:17 he said "Blue Yeti" when it is the "Blue Snowball Ice"
@some weeb LMAOO I-
So many WHATS UP GUYS ITS ED FROM TECH SOURCE Jeez
0:30 how the hell is this a condenser? you cant get phantom power through that cord...?
Welcome to china my friend.
BTW: condenser microphones need minimally 6.5v which if you have a desktop computer is achievable with 3.5mm jack so it will work, but not in it's full glory.
Dude the phantom PSU comes with a cable to connect to the mic and one to go to the computer
@@gusthecreator386 If the mic has an XLR connection. This one has unpluggable 3.5 mm jack lol
@@doomixVAL Yeah, it's like buying a GTX 2080TI and combining it with a core 2 duo. Get a budget audio interface like the behringer UMC22, it's like 40 bucks and will make even budget mics like these sound 10 times better.
@@billie8156 I have BM 800 AND behringer U-phoria um2
THANK YOU SO MUCH! Out of all of the videos I've watched, you have been the most helpful
I think the blue snowball won even without editing
This was good I just bought one of thees
I found this video because I ordered the toner the other day. I felt really good about it ,till i watched a few videos dissing it. i have officially lost my money.
Thank you very much I decided to get the Floureon BM-800 :) and I like the room
