Danny The Count comes from old money. His parents were millionaires by the time Danny was a teenager. They had their own TV channel in the 80's and 90's that Danny would host. His was born rich and will always be rich because old money knows how to hold onto it, new money does not.
I love the show and I love the cast. At the end of the day, these guys are all professionals and should be making good money for the work they do. I know guys who do body work and also some that paint vehicles and they make really good money at the shops they work at and these aren’t custom jobs.
I loved the show and I just bought a '61 Mercury Comet for my retirement that needs a little help. Now what do I do? I had the same car when I was 20 and loved it.....sanded it down myself, got it painted, new carpet and put in a rebuilt engine. (I should have held onto it) I always wanted another one and love to go to classic car shows. So now I'm 65 and ready to show my newly obtain Comet in car shows around the country.....after I find some help in getting it up to par. It only has 41k miles and all original...garaged during its life time. Anyone out there to help me? I'm gonna live my life retirement dream!

I agree with the flames statement , with a little less exuberance , in some case's they can work fine especially the ghosted one's. It would help if they'ed dial back on them. Even on some of the vehicles Mike's scull design may do well. But tast wise a straight out paint job with a little flakes , or perhaps fades from dark to light. Mate paint is also a choice that's used regularly. Strips on certain of the vehicles bring out that look of beast mode we like. Some vehicles need class rather than pizazz. I still think the show is great and , like the crew. I think their all talented , and tops in there know how.
I love watching counting cars the count is so cool Danny you are so excellent I have two AMC Gremlins in my pole barn I would love to send them to him and have them redo them both I just been hanging on to them all my life

Boyd Coddington for sure had wayy more overhead the counts shop. Boyd’s shop was huge, had a lot of really high end equipment, he had alot of employees many of them were really skilled so I’m sure they were making good money, the shop was in California. The counts shop is in a business park and business park space is much cheaper then Boyd’s shop counts shop for sure costs a fraction of what Boyd’s did, counts has a ton of equipment but they don’t have a lot of the super expensive machines like water jet machines, cnc machines even one to make custom wheels like Boyd did But Boyd’s shop was completely different he was building over the top no expense spared top notch show cars and that’s not what the counts shop is about counts is more of a restore cars to the classic look and make them into great driving cars counts will order in a steering column and a set of wheels nothing super crazy where Boyd will make a steering column in the cnc machine out of billet aluminum that wil take the cnc machine 2 days to make as well as one off custom wheels. Boyd’s shop could make a model T the most elegant classy tasteful car with 1200hp and it would drive like a new Cadillac and the counts shop would make that model T look brand new like the day it came off the showroom floor. Boyd’s cars were in a completely different class the cars that came out of there were completely redesigned vehicles made for people that could afford to spend 500k on a vehicle or more. When a custom car shop builds that one car every couple years to show off a sema, auto museum pretty much like a concept car they spent 250k in parts alone well that was every car Boyd built and when ur dealing with such a high end product it’s not hard to run out of money! If the economy goes to shit alot of the rich people that buy his cars loose their asses and with the massive overhead Boyd had it can get ugly quick where counts shop could make it through hard times he doesn’t have the overhead like that and they do work on regular peoples cars
It's all cosmetic work. Those vehicles would not pass a vehicle structure safety inspection. Any of Boyd's cars, or Count's car's would crumble when hitting a plastic grocery shopping cart. For certain, Jay Leno wouldn't buy any vehicles from these two bondo body shop owner's. Their paint job's would peel like a banana after 6 week's in the summer sun. Count and Boyd are all flash, and grab the dazzled eyed customer's cash - AND RUN FORREST RUN.

At least with Earl Schibe, you honestly know what kind of a paint job your vehicle will get for $29.95. I've personally seen Boyd Coddington's "creations" on the actual road month's later. Bondo and spray can quality paint job's of his, can't pass the test of time in the hot sun, or cold weather. Bondo cracks and chunks off. Cheap paint job's peel like apples and bananas. The Count's car's are all eye glitter, and flash of the customers gone cash. The Count has been on the TV camera, "Countless" of times of not wanting to spend too much cash on "fixing" up many of the vehicles that are dragged into his shop. It's Vegas baby. Spray some glitter paint on the body, bring it outside in the Vegas back alley parking lot sun, and put on the sunglasses to block out the numerous imperfections done on his "creations". But you gotta admit - The Count's car's are the most friendly car's on the road. Both side's of his custom car's wave at you when they pass by. They have built-in waves in the body like the American Flag has when the wind blows by it. When a Count's car drives by, it almost makes you want to stop walking, or driving your vehicle as it passes by. So you can properly salute it, like saluting the American Flag on a windy day. Boyd Coddington and The Count can't touch Foose. Now if the boys from Boyd's "garage" and the boys from The Count's "shop" worked under Foose as "Apprentices" in vehicle body, paint and mechanical building. Then you're talking real custom and restoration work. I have never seen Boyd or The Count displaying their vehicles at the Detroit AutoRama shows through the many year's straight I've been there. But I've seen the fantastic vehicles that Foose brought with him to display at one of the LARGEST custom vehicle shows in the USA. And I have personally had cool conversations with Foose there in The Motor City - AutoRama shows. As Cheech and Chong would say: "Put that in a joint and smoke it". Or maybe a Bong, and inhale it Dude. I still don't see any of Boyd's or Count's car's in Jay Leno's Garage.

This shop sent us a old school challenger a few years ago to a shop I used to work at to do body work on ,we were going to do the body work but counting cars were going to take the credit, the check bounced once but twice, our shop employees were laughing when that happen
