Joe Camel catches Bass, Walleye, Catfish and Carp. The top water model is new to me; never used that model. Humpbacks have the treble hooks permanently mounted to the lure. To change them meant cutting the hook off at the eye and adding a new split ring and hook. The Deep Wee-R is like the Humpback with split ring hooks. The Humpback model that runs the same depth as a square bill is a fish catcher in streams and small fast water creeks. Trout even go for them. I caught all the fish listed using this model too. They do wear out and most often the lip breaks off. However; the shallow runner is tied to the nose of the lure and the diving lip is mounted underneath the line tie. It is like the Peanut just a different profile. As for the Dead Duck: big Pike, Musky, Catfish and Snapping turtles eat ducks given the chance. Don’t know if bass will but, one big enough might. The Joe Camel lure was free for sending in labels from cigarette packs. Cigarette companies offered all types of free gifts from saved labels from cigarette packs. Lunch boxes, hats, shirts, clocks, coffee cups, fishing rods and reels. ✨🤠✨🐟
Late to the video because of work 😠 that damn mill will be the death of me 🤣 oh well time to relax and watch another great episode! My wife even watches with me now and sings along with the theme song! 🤣❤️ can’t beat it.
@@RetroBassin I did!! He sat me down before he sold them and he said, “I’m gonna give you 20 minutes, whatever you want you go in there and get it” I got an old Daiwa Surf rod and reel, some old JC Higgins stuff, some heddon lures, and a frog lure from the 60s that has some kind of mechanism in it where the legs kick when you pop it on the water.
A good friend of min often said that lures were meant to catch people not fish and there is a lot of truth to that. Some of theses are pretty inventive though. Great video.
Came for the Crazy Legs lure & leaving with a smile. Little late watching this one, but I saw that lure on your IG. I've been eyeing a few of those for sale to put in a display case with some other quirky gimmick lures that I have. I also saw things in this one that I never knew that I needed. It's time for me to hunt down a shad-quack & find myself a golden peanut to put in the case too As for that flashback lure, I can only imagine that was birthed in someone's garage and was probably originally cobbled together in a half drunken fog out of some old lure parts & one of those fat multi-colored click pens. That has to be one of the weirdest lure ideas that I've ever seen. I can only imagine how much it would stink up a tacklebox after being used. LOL!
The Hooker can also be used with water and a shiner on the inside of it there was a glass bait that was made to put a shiner into as a kid I remember the old timers used them on some of the lakes my dad and uncle’s would fish on and even had one given to me but I have no clue where it went maybe broken I don’t remember that has been 40 some odd years ago!!!

Man .............. I look forward to yer show every saturday after mornin' fishin' one of the local spots, LOVE THE SHOW BRO! Hope to grab a hat in the next couple weeks! Tight Lines Amigo! :)
It was legit waking up this Saturday and having a new episode, unlike LAST Saturday when you made us wait a day, lol. I am sorting through my stuff to send you a package, did you have Babe Winkelman down in TX, or was he a more local WI/MI/MN guy? Oddly enough, he had 2 or 3 wives, they were all named Kris, they all had featured cooking sections on his show and all looked very similar. Maybe they were like the FemBots from Austin Powers, lol. Anyway, I am throwing one of them in, it's a GREAT crank that they don't make anymore from his Master Series with Lindy/Little Joe. It's all #retrogold
I feel like the Shad Quack could work. I have seen a bass take a duckling before so it isn't completely off center. That packaging was pretty funny though
I've seen pike and musky do the same thing! I saw a musky take down a juvenile Canadian goose once as a kid and I've been fascinated and fishing for them ever since! It's was crazy
1 and a half ounces laughable Lol you should come up to st Clair and go musky fishing! We throw baits 5 to 10 times that weight! But I know what you mean you definitely want the proper setup for heavy baits.
A Humpback Rebel is a old shallow 1/4 oz crankbait-I spent summers(early 80’s) fishing Ouchita Arkansas creeks as a child visiting my grandparents every year. The lure of choice in that area was the humpback. I believe the Joe Camel is a deep diver version, with the same body shape. I smoked a ton of camels to get some of those lures. That was before “Camel Cash”
Team Shad Quack baby!!! I knew ol Virgil, he sounded just like Hank Hill!!! Loved this video, got a few crayons shape lures made by Lucky craft that were made for reps. Enjoying this series so very much Few of those I’ve never did before Keep up the awesome videos.
Took my son to a Florida Marlins baseball game years ago and they were handing out Marlins logo lipless crankbaits. It's rocking the old school teal Marlins colors. And, yes, I've caught bass on it.
I actually had the amazing lure as a kid. I believe I got it from my grandpa's tackle box. Grandpa wasn't much of a fisherman so there was a lot of strange lures in there. So I really don't know if it was the right way but I used to tie the amazing lure through its eyes. I just thought I'd let you know how a 8 year old thought of tying on that amazing lure. Hahaha oh yeah and mine was orange and white. I need to see if I can find that thing.
Hello..Where can i go to purchase and find some of these lures. I see Ebay may have some of them but not all. I collect some old and gimmick lures. So if possible let me know. Thanks i enjoy your channel it's entertaining.
The Shad Quack would probably work. There are Many videos of fish eating even large birds and other creatures you would not believe a fish would eat. Look it up and spend an afternoon with your jaw open.
Awesome show Retro!! Keep it up! About the Rebel Humpback. That bait has been in Rebel's line up nearly as long as they've been making baits. They did a few promotional deals over the years and this was one of them. I believe this one was in the late 80s.
Wonder if you got anything about a fishing product called "Chum and rub"?I remember out to be a chapstick like container...a simple rub on a bare hook with catch you fish...would love to see that product and the tv commercial again.
Some time in the early 2000s. I can remember seeing commercials for "Revolutionary new... lures, rods, etc." When I was really little, then suddenly everything was either a "game-changer" or "will change the way you fish FOREVER" probably around 2006 or so.
Really wanted to see the Amazin’ lure in action. I had a cereal box prize that was similar. I t was a submarine that used pellet type baking soda tablets. Prolly the same stuff. Reacts with the water.
I used to make boats out of foam and put chunks of soap in a slot in the back. The boat would be propelled forward by the soap. I forgot what kind of soap it was.
I was gonna say, how much ya wanna bet those are baking soda tablets. They made the submarines, and they used to do a frogman ( aka navy seal ) as well.
You definitely have to do a part 3 although the Schlitz Longneck was definitely number one but I definitely understand why you have to keep the beer and hooker together
Another gimmick lure is the "200 mph crankbait" it's in the shape of a racecar and the colors were paint schemes of some drivers like Dale Earnhardt, Jeff Gordon and even Hank Parker Jr, it's more of a collectible but still pretty funny. Regarding the duck lure, what was deemed kinda of a joke but now people are fishing with duck-shaped lures, I have 2 duck lures myself.
I dont remember what it was called, but i remember a worm that was an as seen on tv item that when it hit the bottom it rolled up. It come in a kit with several different colors.
Please do fish the crazy legs! Maybe a snap ring is in order for that one too. I'd never attempt to tie to that eyelet, but I only use 4 and 6lb line. I was skeptical about my Chuck Woolery Moto Lures too, but I've caught many bass on them. The moto chug and moto minnow both.
@@RetroBassin safe travels my bassin bud. I hope y'all get some bigguns. I lived in Ohio for decades. Where a 4-5lber is a pretty big deal. Lol.
