  • Here is the full video of my Thrush Turbo LS3 Nova. So I have to change them out bc I feel they are too restrictive for the amount of Air being sucked in. I knw I know that they are but I was running cut outs but those broke and now I have them sealed off. I have Pypes Pro Street that is going on.

      You know Patrick what’s funny is just a few years ago I didn’t mind the loud in overbearing muffler noise now I’m just like just give me somewhere less than in the middle. These were literally zero noise at highway speed‘s. Which I grew to like. I guess the older we get the more mature we get and don’t like loud things. Lol

    I think the turbo muffler design deserves more respect, they are a great street muffler and once they break in from a few heat cycles, they sound great. Everyone needs a 600- 1000 hp street car now and it makes no sense to me.

    hope you got the problem fixed but it sounds like a tuning/fuel delivery issue to me. The mufflers sure as hell didn't cause the dying at idle or the bucking going down the road. I've run those thrush turbo's on 9 second street cars that I wanted a stealth factor on with no issues.

    The turbo mufflers sound good on your car and would make for a good long distance driver. I'm a Flowmaster guy myself and as far as foxbodys go they are the best combo in my opinion. However the 2 chamber drone gets old after a while and sometimes I like to switch it up. You may want to look into the Dynomax ultra flo welded. That's my favorite alternative with a nice deep mean sound that sounds off but is not over the top. They sound nice inside the vehicle as well without the drone.

    Not to mention, with those "turbo" mufflers, your 500hp just became about 480hp! With Hooker Max Flow mufflers, you won't lose any horsepower, and it'll sound amazing, no droning (at least none for me).

  • @AdmiralRustyShackleford
    @AdmiralRustyShackleford 2 года назад +1

    Don't know what you've currently got, but there's a few really good and inexpensive options. The Flowmaster FlowFX and Cherry Bomb Salute are both Magnaflow/Ultraflo knockoffs: stainless steel straight through mufflers. They have the best flow you can get, amazing sound and as long as you have full tailpipes out the back, little to no drone. They're also just like the Pypes Race Pro mufflers.
    Also another one I've used: Hooker Aerochamber, sort of a mix between a FlowFX and a chambered Flow 40 series. Great sound and flow, very little (liveable) drone.

      If you have a dream list make it happen. You’ll never look back and say, man I wish I didn’t.
      Build the car for what you want it to do. I built this one as a highway cruiser. At 80mph I’m at 2150rpm & gets 26mpg. It’s not a drag strip king but it has enough hp to keep up with the best.
      If funding gets in the way…finance the needed amount on your daily driver. I did 20k & but added 3 years to my loan note which wasn’t bad..
      Try to do the job yourself. Do not pay anyone to do it for you. If you get stuck on something there’s a RUclips video of someone showing you how to do it.
      Good luck buddy & drive safe & be safe. 🚗💨💨

      @@TexasNova I have a 78nova with a 454 big block. it's putting up about the same hp. My exhaust is full tube headers with 2" primaries into 3" pipes going straight back into 3" in and out dynomax. I have a 3" crossover which takes care of the drone. I really like this system, it's serving me well.

      @@TexasNova maybe you need a bit bigger diameter. I upgraded carbs on my 63 valiant when I first got it. They had a 1 3/4 pipe was not enough. Changed to 2.5 solved my problem. Perhaps you need to go to 3 inches or so. It was similar issue with me bigger pipes solved it. Hope this helps brother
