Not “Lingum Vitum” but “Lignum Vitae” - I too have a Lignum Vitae carvers mallet. It is not the only wood that does not float. There are a few different species of tree that produce wood with a high specific gravity, high enough to sink in water. Black Ebony, Ipe, Black Ironwood, and Lignum Vitae all have a specific gravity greater than 1.0, meaning they sink in water.
Fascinating! Thanks Dave.
Thanks, Sandra. My pleasure
