The hammer/hatchet at 8.30 is a lath hammer for cutting and fixing plaster laths.
With all those tools in there that box must of been extremely heavy !
Great series of videos I watched them all. I’m a journeyman carpenter/ fine woodworker, wow what a collection of tools, I have some of my grandfathers. Amazing how all of that fit into that box. Today a a jobsite every thing is in a huge steel box we chain to something solid, people steal everything.
Not “Lingum Vitum” but “Lignum Vitae” - I too have a Lignum Vitae carvers mallet. It is not the only wood that does not float. There are a few different species of tree that produce wood with a high specific gravity, high enough to sink in water. Black Ebony, Ipe, Black Ironwood, and Lignum Vitae all have a specific gravity greater than 1.0, meaning they sink in water.
The beautiful part is you would feel privileged to own that box and set those tools back to work where they left off, no batteries, no power cords and still amazing, just sayin😊
Interesting on one hand but sad on another. A lot of history there. You will never get everything back where it belongs, 😂
Wow, a real treasure hunt. Thanks
Lose the cheezy music. It detracts from your excellent expert commentary.
Este arco de pua feito em madeira com guarnições de metal amarelo, é uma obra de arte.
Maravilha estas ferramentas antigas!!!! Muito legal.
Very interesting, but the music is very off-putting, dont need it, to loud in places and very quiet in other places, please get rid off it
More camera movement! Is the cameraman asleep or what
Cameraman is tired from over work in the first video
Excellent content. Shows David compassion and devotion to his hobby. What a shop!
Thanks Alex, I got a lot of help from my friends.
They didn't waste much in the past because everything was hard to come by and they worked hard for everything they had. Today everything is foreign made cheap to purchase but not made well and also don't last.😢😊
We modern consumers may be at least partially responsible for this trend as we always shop for the lowest price, not the best quality or locally made.
I agree, but when the American consumer is forced to buy foreign made crap because all but very few manufactures have sold out to out to outside countries for profit. We need to go back to making long lasting products made here.
Fascinating! Thanks Dave.
Thanks, Sandra. My pleasure
Thanks for sharing, saludos desde Tijuana
De nada Tijuana
Very educational David. An amazing glimpse into a bygone era of consummate craftmanship.Wondering if I can borrow the big burl mallet to beat myself over the head with until I finish my taxes.
I can't be responsible for misuse of tools, personal injuries and such.
