    Allow me to note: Those types of knobs are perfect on the selection switches - but can be risky or even a disaster on the other rotary controls on a 50W amp, because it is just way the heck too easy to bump them into a quarter turn, or even further. If I had that amp I'd immediately replace them. Those knobs are very common on pedals and some effects devices which is how I gained experience enough to mention it. Very good, clear amplifier review.

    I just purchased my first Fender amp in 30 years and I have to say, they have the best clean tones I've ever heard. The amp is the Ultimate Chorus 2x12 and it sings beautifully. For 3 decades I've incorrectly been playing through Marshall and Crate.

    Old video i know, just purchased this amp and am really impressed. What you get for the price is a phenomenal amp. Especially when you consider that most pawn shops have 20 to 30 year old practice amps sitting around and still want 200 to 300 dollars for them. Fender got it right with this one!

      The big question!
      Does one want a modelling amp like the FENDER MUSTANG GT 100 with all the “bells and whistles”, limitless presets, Bluetooth & WIFI connectivity, on board tuner, LED screen etc etc etc
      OR
      a simple “plug and play” with beautiful Fender clean tones, a few amp models and presets but with a better 12” Midnight 60 Celestion speaker, open backed with warmth and room filling capacity, not boxy, truly giggable, the new black face FENDER CHAMP 50xl? I have one of these and I love it. I have it paired with an orange crush 35ldx. The combination of the 12 inch celestion and the 10 inch voice of the world speaker really accentuate each other. It’s like the fender puts all the pretty high end frequencies back in to my sound. Play a telecaster and run a pedal board into the front ends (the pedal board is all overdrives and distortion s lol). I am in love with the clean+compression setting on the champion.

    I have an old Vox VT-20+. Where delay and reverb can be added individually and also the amount of it. I just bought the Champion 40. On the amp selector a light shifts color when you dial the knop for different amp types other than the ones you see on the panel. Read about the models in the manual. You can also use the reverb alone as the light shifts color when you go from the combined chorus/reverb to the reverb by itself. Same as with the delay. You can use delay without reverb on it.

    Great first amp for someone learning, big improvement over the practice amps of of the late 80's early 90's haha. A good sounding amp when learning is worth it's weight.

  • @jamesstmars
    @jamesstmars 5 лет назад +14

    I think personally if I owned this amp and decided to use delay pedals and such I would just use the amp as a "clean" platform and get my dirt from a pedal. That way I'd be able to chain my FX any way I chose.

    • @soullessSiIence
      @soullessSiIence 5 лет назад +7

      Any person with a little intelligence would use these amps for the speakers only and run everything else through pedals. Just like I use a Spider IV only for its amazing 2x12 Celestion speakers. I got the amp for $150, like-new, so I only use its speakers. Don't even dare to touch the horrible built in effects

      @@soullessSiIence I actually decided to buy the Fender Champion 50 XL because of its clean tone. I read lots of comments talking about the poor metal distortion, but dude, just plug your own distortion pedals on that beautiful clean sound and you will get your perfect tone. If it’s as tough & sturdy as a Fender H.O.T. Amp then it’s a winner! I had one forever & the only reason I left it behind was because I blew the speaker 🔈 on it playing bass! It was a great amp w multi channel options & built in effects that were limited control wise, but sounded great regardless. Good Demo👍🏽

The Fender Mustangs are good too if you need a 2nd "regular" amp....for $100 or so. (I got one used for $40 ....was a no brainer). Has good cleans and nice AC30, twin reverb, Bassman models, etc. Seems more appealing than this one. Even it is way louder than I need for an apt. 50 watts seems overkill.

      You definitely made a good choice. I own both and prefer the champion, but I don't have to really worry about neighbors. The champion gets LOUD and is very bass heavy IMO. The Yamaha sounds great too, but just doesn't have as big a sound. Only reason I like the champion.

    Nice job and sounds good! Probably better than a Mustang and less money!

    So how would say this amp compares to the Boss or Black star in the same price point?? I’m looking into a nice 15 watt mini Orange or something on that line

    Definitely a solid sounding amp. What is the black singlecut you were playing in the metal section?

    If i was going solid state which i likely am going to add to my amp arsenal it will be the Boss Katana. It's a no brainer.

    Its operation will be familiar to anyone who has a Champion 20 or 40, which are well-regarded in that class of amp. Is it meant to replace the 40?

    I’m not a tone snob, I want something easy to get good sounds from (sorry Katana and Vypyr, I suck at menu diving and apps), I like to play quietly (sorry 99% of tube amps) and I’m a father of 3 so I don’t have much extra cash. This seems perfect and I love fender so win-win.

    Nice amp for the money. Does it take dirt pedals in the front well?

    really nice sounding for the price ! Now I wonder if it's better than a boss Katana, which remains a reference in termes of affordable combos. Thanks for this demo and, by the way, your T shirt is great, I need the same !!!

    Could a delay pedal be used with built-in delay on top?

    Do you like this Amp better than the Fender Champion 40?

  • @johnlmcgary
    @johnlmcgary 5 лет назад

    If that is anything like the FM line then the "clean" chan was unusable so I used to put a dirt pedal in front of it and use the clean chan as my dirty channel and then turn the gain down on the twin setting of the dirty chan and use that clean.

    It'll probably replace the champions 40 which is a good amp! Just hope it doesn't cut off when it is hot! Ny 40 had that problem!
