    Kurt Angle (considering ALL eras of Wrestling) lands a spot in my eyes. I dont know what it is, but HE was always my GOAT. His intensity, legitimacy in amateur wrestling, the dude just knew what he was doing. If were talking late 90's to mid 2000's, no one comes close to the Gold Medalist. Bret Hart without saying. I dislike his wrestling and character, and as a person he’s a bitter old man, but there is no denying his legendary skills.
      And before people start, HBK kept up and the only hiccup I saw with him against hart was when he tried to apply the sharpshooter. Beyond the Hart Family and others trained by Stu, seeing a guy like HBK come in and keep up with Bret so well Bret rarely had to carry is a thing of beauty. I think people could say Kurt Angle. He would have fit in as one of the best if not the best in the pre-TV era. Also he has the championships at the NCAA and Olympic level to back up him being the best. He won those by being the best technical wrestler in the world.

    • @Uuusssaaas
      @Uuusssaaas 2 года назад

      @@innocentbystander72 I think Kurt Angle could be on the Mt. Rushmore. He is on my top 10 list of favorite wrestlers. His main "Pros" are that his amateur background is second to none, he is as strong as an ox, he is as fast and smooth as anyone, and his pain threshold is second to none. (He's also funny and can laugh at himself.) His main "Con" is that he is limited in technique beyond amateur wrestling. He never developed the knowledge of hooking, because he never needed to. The old time experts may have been able to incapacitate him if they could have survived the first few minutes of a match. If Angle had started wrestling 10 or 15 years earlier, he would have been more complete. He would have benefited from coming up during the territory system. The original question has been bugging me since it was posted. Mainly because of Kurt Angle. I wish I knew enough about the behind the scenes to answer where Angle belongs on the list.

    My personal 4 since I began watching in the late eighties would be Bret Hart, Bryan Danielson, Dean Malenko and Chris Benoit. This includes mainstream US stuff only as I have not seen a lot outside of this. I have seen my fair share of 90's AJPW sprinkled in with some NOAH and NJPW but not enough to include anyone from there.

    Bobby Lashley

    Everyone crying about Bret Hart, but he couldn't win a technical shoot within his own family. Owen was actually a better legit wrestler. But never mind that, we're talking about guys who could make matches seem athletic, complex and contested.
    Lou Thesz, Billy Robinson, Kurt Angle ... and the shooter who was the original architect of pro wrestling, Toots Mondt.

    • @garymck5181
      @garymck5181 2 года назад +2

      Owen was NOT a better legit wrestler than Bret. That's just untrue.
      But it doesn't really matter. There's never been anyone better (certainly in the colour TV era) than Bret Hart, at making a professional wrestling match look like a legitimate athletic combat contest while physically hurting neither competitor. None.
      THAT'S the definition (indeed the very blueprint) of a great technical pro wrestler.
