    Guiros = Cipotes; they should know this as well. Being Cuban-Honduran brought up in Hialeah, no one informed me that Cuban Spanish wasn't exactly the same. Little to my Beknown surprise when I was playing with my cousins when I was 7. They didn't understand me, and no one had explained it to me. My mother had adapted to the Cuban spanish, so I didn't know this. Needless to say, since I did not associate much with the Cuban side of me, I quickly picked up on my inner-Catracha. Proud Lenca, despite how chela I am.

      @ElizabethTeachesSpanish  2 года назад +1

      Oh yes!!! Guiro is super common!! And I’m glad you brought that up!! There is SUCH a difference of slang in every country-even words that are normal one place and rude/inappropriate somewhere else!😅 I’m glad you’re proud to be Lenca!! 🇭🇳🙌🏽 And I would love to learn Cuban slang!!!😍😍😍

    This was so helpful! Soon i will be going to Honduras and i can't wait to see the look on my girlfriend's face and her family when she realizes i did some learning without her! Also, be careful that you say colocha right because if you turn that first o to an a, it very much changes what word you are saying in a bad way! Thankfully mi novia es una catracha colocha and explained to me the difference.

      I’m so glad the video was helpful!! And I can’t wait to hear how you impress your novia with caliche!🥰🙌🏽 And good to know!!! Thank you for sharing!!! Always good to be intentional on pronunciation-especially when the alternative is something we really do not want to say!😅

    I knew many of these from my time in El Salvador. (Next door to Honduras.) I have heard that ‘Puchica’ is a contraction of ‘puta chica.’ You hear puchica all the time in El Salvador.
    I was called chele all the time. I heard that much more than gringo. Esta bien. Si de hecho soy chele.

    • @ElizabethTeachesSpanish
      @ElizabethTeachesSpanish  6 месяцев назад

      Yes! Both of those are very common in Honduras as well; it’s neat to see how many phrases the two countries share! And “chele” speaks to someone having fair skin, whereas “gringo” speaks to a person being from the United States😊

    ¿COLOCHO IS HONDURAN SLANG? I'm honduran and now I wonder how other countries say it but I think it's just a regular spanish word

    • @ElizabethTeachesSpanish
      @ElizabethTeachesSpanish  Месяц назад

      Great question! I am sure that countries like El Salvador would also say “colocho.” In Spain, they say “rizzado,” and in Mexico, they say “chino” for curly.

  • @anthonyrapalo9963
    @anthonyrapalo9963 2 года назад +5

    Person 1: “Nombe voo, ando hule”
    Person 2 replies: “Solos sos paja. Saca el pisto pues”
    Where “voo” is a San Pedro way of saying “vos” and hule is slang for broke/without money, and paja is lies, and pisto is money lol

    I lived in Honduras all of my life, I am Honduran. But I moved to Paraguay and lost my accent. :'( So I'm re-learning the jergas.

    • @brandoncota8132
      @brandoncota8132 10 месяцев назад

      Qué tal la onda en Paraguay? Andaba en Argentina por unas semanas en septiembre, y conocí a muchos Paraguayos. No me daba cuenta que tan importantes son las relaciones entre los dos países. Yo vivía en Tegus por un par de años después de graduarme de la U (fui criado entre USA y España). Mi acento y forma de hablar cambiaron por completo. A primeras, me decían que no hablaba portugués o siquiera que yo hablaba como en las películas. Después de dos años, me dieron el apodo “el gringo frijolero”, jaja. Una vez, andaba en Mexico. Unos tipos me miraron boca abierto cuando les hablé, preguntándome de donde era. Adivina, dije yo, y ellos, “el mero sur”. Jeje. El caliche catracho es muy rico en sentimiento y cultura. Es fresa y macizo, mi alero. Así que, no seas guebon y agárrate jalón para la pijinea mas próxima y echate un trago del guaro, va.
