It's hard because so many non-dancers watch Dance Moms so they don't know the real dynamic of an actual dance season class. Comp dancers KNOW what it's like and know that Abby is a normal strict teacher, that makes good students.
i'm kinda starting to understand and to like abby because of these reaction videos. still hate lots of things about her but it's good to know more of the actual story. producers did all the dirty work. it's just sad that the kids were the ones that ended up hurting and traumatised by this show.
Christi saying that Maddie is Chloe's biggest competition is not nearly the same as telling her daughter that Maddie is a better dancer than her, so idk how we jumped to that conclusion 😶
This is a great format for Abby to tell her memories in a well done beautiful environment. She looks the best I’ve ever seen. She is just beautiful. Love her stories as a dance teacher.
It really kinda broke my heart that she was so fake. One day I woke up and said I want to be a genuinely nice person. I know this can come off fake sometimes, but I do really try to live by that. I was so hoping everyone just misunderstood her, but no you're right she was very fake.

Lol about the acro in socks. My daughter dances. If you aren’t in dress code at her studio, you are asked to leave class until you fix yourself. Acro is a leotard & shorts (NO SOCKS!!) Heck, if you don’t have a proper bun in for ballet, you are kicked out of class. People act like Abby was in the wrong here. Dress codes are implemented for a reason.
As a dancer, I really like the strict teachers. Not mean, but strict. The strict ones usually help me improve the most and I'm getting alot of of their classes.
The editing of the show made Abby look like a not so great person but really, she seems like a very endearing person. Hearing her speak her side makes us see Abby in the right light
I think Pastor Dawn started the obsession with Dance Moms. That confrontation and then the police came…. people tuned in to see what would happen next.
Abby, I taught dance for 30+ years and was strict on my dancers as well. Consequently I had some wonderful moms to deal with also. That's why I used to love watching Dance Moms. I could really identify with you. I think all your "former" students should be extremely grateful to you. Perhaps when they mature and look back on the education you gave them, they will. BTW you look fabulous! Whatever you're doing, keep it up!

I really enjoyed the first part of the episode reaction. You're a wonderful story teller and I like it when you tell it how it is, how it really was and everything in-between that we've never known... I feel it takes up time to comment on parenting or to defend yourself. We saw all of that on the show "Dance Moms". There's no need to defend yourself and I think we all know how you feel about most of the parents. I'm perfectly happy just hearing your reaction and your stories behind the episode without the extra drama, please. Loved the story about the candy
terminology in any field is essential. I wouldn't expect Abby to know totally the terminology for accounting, or for public policy but as a specialist in those fields I better know them inside & out. I would expect the same level of terminology for dance professionals.

The thing with Abby is you can tell shes honest, you might consider her cruel or not agree with her methods but I’ve never felt like she was sneaky or untrustworthy.
I totally agree with the comment “that’s a mommy’s job”, watching the show I thought you were tough but god it makes me sad to see the moms just not even supporting their own daughters just tearing them down, comparing them to the other girls and invalidating them. So sad
Grew up watching you with my cousin, aka my best friend. She always encouraged me to do what I love and be myself. She was the only one who knew I was gay and helped me come out. Had my back and supported me when no one else did. You and the kids and moms were our lives. We had so much fun watching you. Thanks for the memories and RIP Renee. I love you forever.

My dance teacher was always tough on me, obviously there is sides to every story and at times I did get upset, I cried, there’s stuff us students needed to talk about and work through. But, it is not unheard of for dance teachers to be harsh or tough and push you a lot, I danced in a ballet academy for years and that’s what it was like. Often the stuff that makes you cry is them trying to make you the best you can be, that doesn’t mean all of its right or nice, but it’s not just Abby, every dance teacher I’ve ever had is tough when they need to be, and nurturing when they need to be. When some things dance teachers say get taken out of context it can seem awful, but with context and in reality it might not be nice but it’s not as malicious as you think
Off-topic but I love how Abby doesn’t dare curse near any child and doesn’t like when the moms do it in front of the kids too because out of all the episodes of dance moms that I have seen especially Abby‘s ultimate dance competition Abby has only cursed once
At 3:40-3:50 and 6:50 every time I watch season 1 episode 1 (and it’s been many times) I say the EXACT same thing about Melissa’s remark about Maddie being sick and not cleaning up her mess. I think it’s so funny you said the same thing!!!

Good way to describe the editing Abby! The company I work for did UnderCover Boss and although it wasn’t scripted it was edited in such a way that it made it something it wasn’t. When I rewatch the episode it makes me giggle because what they showed is so untrue. I cant watch that show now without catching the little qualms and mistakes they made with the editing.
I remember watching an episode of that show and they made it seemed like the boss had changed so much and he was giving everyone payrises and all. They just glossed over the fact that the payrise was over three years and wouldn't even cover the paycut they had given them the year before when you consider inflation. I bet he went back to screwing over his employees the next week
Fun fact… my daughter and I drove to the Pgh studio during quarantine. Nothing else to do! About a 45 minute drive from our house and we stopped at the Oakmont Bakery (why were they open during quarantine?)afterwards. We took pictures of her in the parking lot. She loved it.
I’m so glad that they redid this episode with you in it. Dance moms is not the same and will never be the same without Abby. Even though we only see Abby yelling at the girls, she’s always kind to them and that’s just what they edited in. I hope you make a part 3.
