Been very lucky this year. 17 various Wemby's ( no autos ), 2 purple waves (1 draft, 1 Monopoly), silver prizm and base) are a few. Estimated cost to obtain....$750.
I rip wax as a thing that I do with my son, I had that experience as a kid and want to give it to my son. I realize it’s not a great investment, but I do it for other reasons and when it hits, it hits so much better with the joy on his face. Plus it’s nice to see someone get excited over base cards of superstars. So atleast someone gets enjoyment outta of those nowadays in packs.😂

Wemby's base 1st Bowman auto has more 10s (347) than Scoot and Brandon Miller's base 10s combined (185)!
I have been a Spurs fan and collector ever since Robinson came into the league and it is killing me to have to wait to collect Wemby, simply because of the built in prices right now. One day I will buy some prizm cards, maybe in a year or 2. For now, to help cure my itch, I just been buying some Hoops parallels in PSA 10. They are way harder to gem and much lower pop count and prices aren't as ridiculous. For example, the blue parallel is only 10%.

A lot of what if. His ceiling is high. Wembanyama got a high chance of getting injured. All 7'6 players never play 5 or 6 years in total. BOL probably had the most minutes. Yao probably was the most talented until Wembanyama
Mark Eaton Kareem Shaq wilt etc. being tall doesn’t make you injury prone. It’s just that people vividly remember the 7 footers that get injured.
With Ultra Modern, if you're going to hold, stick to Gold or better and only Prizm, optic, select. Everything else is just fluff. Just my opinion. Great content as always.
Horrible HORRIBLE take. Don't give advice if you don't know what you're talking about caus people that are trying to learn will be misguided and that's not what we want for the hobby. Not trying to be mean but seriously you need to take time away from the comment section and go learn for a few years.
Against my better judgement I bought a hobby box of Topps Chrome Basketball($500) at my LCS. First pack had a Victor redemption auto. Sold it for $1500 the next day and moved on.

Don’t know what I should do with the card. Lets just say after cost of goods I am expecting 20k profit as of today market.
I want to hold because of the low pop but dont want to leave money on the table.
Sell it and buy it back in a year for half today’s value.

The regular bowman 1st Wemby has less psa 10 then auto cause it was a short print card so decent investment if cheap 😮

I’m not a financial advisor but I wouldn’t hold a Wemby card if my life depended on it. Sell it and buy it back in 18 months.
His first licensed auto will go for more in the future than his RC auto. It could be 2-3 years from now and nobody will care about 23-24 Chrome
It’ll be interesting to observe how the hobby handles it. Right now there’s a split between hobby vets and those newer to the hobby regarding the tolerance and euphoria for this unlicensed Topps Chrome. It saddens me bc TC was one of the greatest products of all time and this is a shadow of TC.

What are your thoughts on the Bowman U Best (not Bowman U 1st) Wemby auto card? Will that hold value in the long run as a rookie auto?
I’ll probably not the best person to ask as I would never buy a card unless it featured a player in his NBA uniform

The elephant in the room imo that nobody seems to realize or want to address, the prospecting market parades as some type of sports betting tool to bet on a player being great. When in reality, greatness is baked in at the start, and there is almost no accolades they can achieve that will justify the prices they start as.
1000% agree on big prospects. The fun is finding the nobody that becomes an all star or potential mvp. That type of prospecting still exists. It’s why I’d gamble on cam whitmore before I’d by Wemby or Banchero or whoever
No, if you pull in grade wembys u should sell them right now this is the tail of apeak market for him. They are only gonna go down the only ones I would keep is low numbered ones at high grades. The card market is going down for everybody I buy cards every single day and prices are going down which I’m happy with that, I’m a collector I’m not a flipper I don’t sell I collect, so I’m glad they’re going down they will get down so far and then they will steadily level off and then they will eventually go back up. I only collect the goats I don’t own a single wemby card I will probably three years down the road when they start going down and the hype has slowed down. That’s how I do it and it’s worked out for me my whole life.
Prices of cards are going up. Even Cajun had a video about it. Others on RUclips show constantly losing snipes and bids to cards and even gem 10 sometimes are cheaper than raw makes 0 fing sense but nfl season has made cards go up a lot lately. Raw especially 😂😂😅😅

I don’t think that’s possible unless he gets severely injured, he’s already one of the 10 best players in the league and he’s 20 years old. His path to mega superstardom is inevitable barring injury. Just my opinion.

So the most $ I’ve made in the past year has been anything bowman’s 1st psa 10. Kaitlin Clark nfl nba wemby doesn’t matter. I do 0 baseball and hate unlicensed. But leaf and 1st bowman kill it. And yea been watching breaks of topps chrome wemby every other box. U can actually figure out how many chrome wemby there are since pack odds and checklist are listed. Both 1/1 wemby and Lebron have been pulled one in 600k packs so that’s how many packs were made. Math it up lol. 😅😅😅

Have you watched a Spurs game? Guards literally don’t know what to do when he’s anywhere near the paint. Just cause you can beat him off the dribble doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a significant impact. He ranked 2nd in the league in defensive box +/- That kinda means he’s awesome defensively. 😂
