I have set up a RUclips account just in order to say thank you for your uploads. Everything you explain and demonstrate is at the same easy to follow, perfect pace. I realise I never really knew how to knit properly but now I am enthused and enabled. Thank you x
I learn so much from you! Thank you so much for your very clear instructions. Most people only show you a project but dont show you the whys and hows. So glad you do. Thank you
I have often wondered about this myself and it seemed logical to me to do this prior to blocking. Thank you for confirming. Being an accountant, I love your analysis of the “why”. I would love to see how you weave in fair isle ends. I have not found a way that I really love yet. Thanks for helping us become better knitters and have a wonderful holiday.
Your videos are so clean and focused with no question about what should or should not be used or done. Thank you so much for your AWESOME teaching ability and youre willingness to share it!
thank you, I just asked exactly that question the other day and got the opposite answer, when I always thought weave in and leave a bit, block, then cut off the ends after
My first thought was right, weave in the ends before blocking; however, I wasn’t certain. After watching this video, now I know for sure. Thank you for the tutorial!
I always wondered if I was wrong to weave the ends in BEFORE blocking as I have used patterns which told me to do it AFTER. I always felt it was logical but doubt was always on my mind. Now, thanks to your demonstration, I understand that I should continue to do so. Thank you so much, Suzanne. Happy Holidays! ✨😊 Radha x
Thank you so much for your amazingly educational videos Suzanne! One question: you talk about wool versus synthetic fibres, what about cotton or bamboo yarn, how does it behave? Thank you again and hugs from Barcelona 🤗
Thank you for your video! What method do you find is best when weaving in ends on a very loose guage fabric? I have recently knitted a summer sweater knitted in garter stitch (using fingering and lace weight wool). Thanks again!!!
I blocked my sweater pieces first without weaving in the ends first (I did not see this video until afterwards). Will I be safe if I do a re-block after weaving in the ends? I blocked first because my garment will be seamed and I wanted them to be flat before planning the seam possibly with some of the tail yarn.
Either way is fine, but once you have woven in the ends, whether before or after blocking, be sure to steam them if they have not been blocked. It makes a big difference in whether they will come out on their own or not.
In my experience, man made fibers don't change after getting wet. But you can try this experiment on a swatch. Let me know what you find. Happy Holidays.
If I were to ask this question, I'd forget the answer later. Seeing it demonstrated...I'll remember the difference. Thank you.
Happy Holidays.

You got it right!
My first thought was right, weave in the ends before blocking; however, I wasn’t certain. After watching this video, now I know for sure. Thank you for the tutorial!

Thank you so much for your amazingly educational videos Suzanne! One question: you talk about wool versus synthetic fibres, what about cotton or bamboo yarn, how does it behave? Thank you again and hugs from Barcelona 🤗
I treat cotton like wool. Bamboo and other slippery fibers may need to be woven in for more stitches prior to blocking.
@@SuzanneBryan thank you!

I use the same technique, the duplicate stitch, try it on a swatch first.
@@SuzanneBryan Thanks so much...that's what I ended up doing and now will trust it'll be secure!! 🙂
Would this also apply to plant fibers like cotton or linen?
Yes, absolutely. Happy Holidays!.
Thank you Suzanne! Happy holidays to you too!

thank you for explaining this. but what if your using acrylic or cotton yarn?
Great Question. Cotton will block just like the wool that I am using. Acrylic will not change much. give it a try on a swatch.
@@SuzanneBryan I make my afghans out of acrylic yarn for ease of care, so the ends coming out is a bit of a challenge for me.
If you use the method that I show for weaving in the ends, over 4 duplicate stitches, you should be fine.
What about man made fibers?
In my experience, man made fibers don't change after getting wet. But you can try this experiment on a swatch. Let me know what you find. Happy Holidays.
