Very good, film Karen portrayal of a "growing up" Gidget was good A young woman of the 1960's going after a life goal loved the casting Paul Peterson was very good playing "Jeff/Moondoggy. Very sweet film a thumbs up from me Loved seeing this film again
At 45:06, isn't that one of the World Trade Centre Twin Towers under construction in the back ground? Kind of eerie seeing it at this stage of it's brief existence.
Screen Gems/ABC's first attempt at another Gidget TV series (turns out, after the 1965 show was canceled, it really caught on in reruns, but by then it was too late to bring the series back). Since surf culture was no longer a thing by this point, the producers decided to put Gidget in a different environment, but somehow it doesn't quite click. Still, it's miles ahead of the next attempt, "Gidget Gets Married".
Cute movie but nothing like the Gidget's before. Terrible music. Nothing can touch James Darren and Sandra Dee. I don't even remember this one😂 Fun seeing the old things though.
It was shot before she started doing Room 222. This was a pilot for a new Gidget series, so she wouldn’t have done it if she was already committed to Room 222.
She left college for this then became a teacher then a house wife. Why she has to pay for call ? Hes the one calling & is t collect. Silly. One is too young & one is too old & the pther is just a bit older to be hitting on her. Boon Doggie is one, but okay.
This movie is based on the last Gidget book, but Jeff proposes slightly differently in the book, but the proposal dialogue is pretty much the same like in the final scene in the movie. However, in the book we have a scene where Gidget dad receives a call from Gidget that she and Jeff eloped.
I just love Gidget's outfits. Those knee-high white boots ❤
This was cute but without the beach it doesn't feel like Gidget

Loved the ending in this one when they get engaged.
After all these years, today was my first time watching Giget Grows Up. I loved it* 👀❣️❗️
Karen Valentine was the perfect Gidget.
Actually.. Sally Field was the perfect Giget... ❤
Gidget*
Actually Caryn Richman was the perfect Gidget.
I agree , this is really the only Gadget I like
Wish I had this kind of relationship with my father. I was totally clueless when it came to guys and my mother was old fashioned.
Oh my gosh, I thought I had seen every Gidget movie, and then this appears in my feed! Thank you, RUclips!
The end bit brought me to tears. I miss my daughter and my two grandsons. 😢💔
45:05 Early 1969, North Tower of WTC in background and next to it cranes showing beginning of South Tower.
Adorable movie!
There was only one Moon doggy, the yumy James Darren
James Darren was gorgeous but wow I think Paul Peterson looks beautiful in this 😊
I thought that Stephen mines who played moondoggie on the TV series with Sally field was good too.he looked more like a surfer.
Gidget's father and Alex got along? Maybe because they're the same generation? 🤣
Karen Valentine and Paul Lynde TOGETHER before The Hollywood Squares!!!!
Love this movie. So culturally diverse for the late 60s.
Loved the movie Gidget with the late Sandra Dee and James Darren, own a copy.

It's both towers
Still miss Sandra Dee ❤

I like the song.
Why couldn't my life into place like this?
Thanks ❤
Holy crap…she served his dinner in Samantha and Darrin Stevens living room
I just noticed that when i read your comment
Larry Tate's office set, too!
That guy is way too old for her

Still, way better than "Gidget Gets Married".
I always thought this movie was a bit naff..he was way to old for her…it wasn’t a true growing up movie..it was kind of creepy
The United Nations , so impressive .
@ 33:02 - Harlen Carraher (Jonathan) from "the Ghost and Mrs. Muir" in this movie with Edward Mulhare (Captain Gregg).
This was during the time Karen portrayed Alice Johnson on “Room 222”, right?
It was shot before she started doing Room 222. This was a pilot for a new Gidget series, so she wouldn’t have done it if she was already committed to Room 222.
@@jaredjlinden I think she should have picked Gidget. Sally field got the part after she turned it down right?
@@Belluser-we1uc5cb2lthis is 1969, tv gidget was 65
When TVs were part of the mahogany furniture scheme and you never had to worry about them being stolen... who could lift them?
I like Karen Valentine, she was great on Room 222, but only Sandra Dee can play Gidget best. This movie was fun to watch but not memorable.
Why are parts of this shot in the wrong FPS?
How many actresses played Gidget ? 😮
Personally, I would’ve gone for the Aussie

I was 12 in 1969...I always loved this movie....except the unbelievably corny and terrible "songs" ...:growing up and falling down a lot??" lol
Why did she stop acting? Maybe Hollywood got too weird for her.
55:26 I could do without this lame song though
