About 10 years ago, lightning hit a tree in our front yard, plus hit the school down the street. I thought the tree was a goner, but it actually came back and is the nicest tree in the yard now.
The tree should be fine. I've worked in the forestry business and saw this happen a lot. And ya come back next year and it's perfectly fine. Amazing how much they can handle. Tornadoes lightning hail heavy wind.
oh sheesh- years ago when we lived in Buckley- our house was hit by lightening- and the Burglar and Fire system never worked well after that strike. Sheesh.... Glad that you are ok though.
It's the tree that got hit by lightning not the house. The shredded tree caused the damage to the house. Besides, aren't having lightning rods supposed to ground the house & prevent that ?

He already has a fear of storms and unplugs everything he can in the house, garage etc. Maybe a healthy respect is what I should say. How many quart is it? He's been looking at a 20 or 30 quart. We bake our own breads, rolls etc.
Similar thing happened to three power poles in one strike, never seen lumber split apart and have three chunks of power transmission poles in a row dangling from the power line. They managed to fix the poles in under one day, which was incredible. Some chunks were two feet wide. Nobody was near them thankfully when it struck. Steam is very powerful.

Just a suggestion. When your house is hit by lightning it's recommended you have the fire department come and check everything out.
