I like the tip of using single dose grind size to tap and continue! Thank you for sharing! Learning a lot from your channel!
Indeed this is an almost perfect blend of Lavazza coffee! Lot of crema , choco flavor. I tried it with my Lelit victoria and sette 270 grinder. The result really fantastic. Dont care if there is 30% robusta !
I agreed!
I’m not sure 100% but I think it’s 70% Robusta 30% Arabica. Still very good though
@@drax14QC i think you are right, thats a reason for the rich fat crema!!!
Would like to see a video of that, with your setup.
First off, thanks for the video. I can't believe you're grind is set at 8!!!
I had to take it down to one to make this bean work in my machine. Crazy!
Per your review, I use a coffee distributor and by adjusting the depth of the distributor, I matched it to the blade, I don't even temper and shot duration and volume is right on. Thanks for Lavazza reviews, enjoy your videos. So far, my favorite is Qualita Oro.
LaVazza have so many different beans. I had no idea!
@@HoonsCoffee I shall try these next!
Hoon, i found these videos after i tried all of these lavazza types. I love the Super Crema but haven’t tasted this one yet.
Hi Hoon
I only use Lavazza Coffee Love it 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼I buy cafe aroma at Costco $10 CAD whole bean bag it’s very nice and aromatic...
Also try Crema Gusto is good as well.
Alan H
I just ordered some from Amazon! Can't wait to try it!
TBH, when starting out, I'd just use whatever is cheap while focusing on getting the milk foaming down. A decent grind of decent coffee is going to be an upgrade from whatever folks were previously drinking anyways.
to me i found milk was the easy part, dialing in and getting tamp correct took more time
Nice review! (As always) Really looking foward to tasting these beans ☕️
Hi Hoon, Thanks for sharing all these informative videos. It helps alot for a new Breville BES870 user like me. Following your guide on Lavazza beans now. =)
People knock these beans, but i bought a bag to play around with, im loving them with my ecp3220 and ims basket. Im actually making damn tasty espresso at the moment.
That’s my choice !! Best taste ever 😅
Honestly, I have lots of beans at my studio. But quality/price, the Crema y Aroma is by far at the top of my list for my taste. I love it, and it's cheap.
Thanks for sharing!
Excellent video, big fan!
When I bought this machine it surprised me with just one/two cups button. Previously I've used delonghi magnifica S, and it had four buttons one/two espresso and one/two cups of coffee. So I didnt know how to set up amount of coffee for just normal coffee at breville/sage coffee machines but it appeared to push and hold on one coffee button for a few seconds and it gives me amount of water for normal coffee, it can be changed and adjusted in settings.. generally it's a very good coffee machine and gives lots of options breville/sage. The only thing is in the morning it takes more time to make coffee on manual than on full automatic machine.. but it gives more fun
I really like manual mode as well. As you say "more fun" with manual mode. I need to start saving money for real manual machine.
@@HoonsCoffee I think a few thousand euros.. the real restaurant one.. but this is a manual machine isn't it sage breville? Check on yt de longhi magnifica s - this is full automatic machine... that means much less fun but also much less work.. just push the button and enjoy.. no filling portafilter no cleaning all the time:) anyway.. I'm happy with my sage machine and I'll play with it and watch your movies get inspiration from. Thank you
Hi - thanks for the video. I've been using Crema e Aroma for a while, but even with an 18g grind (level 1 on my machine) a 36g shot is dispensed (with high- but not too-high pressure on the gauge) in about 18 seconds after pre-infusion. I'm guessing to get a 30+s time on the double shot I'd need an even finer grind. I'm wondering, can you confirm how you have the grinder set? I know that the video is two years old now, so maybe you've forgotten how it was set back then, but any help you can give would be very welcome. Thanks!
How is it going with the time? Im grinding the same coffee with internal level 6 and external 2.. Coffee starts running after 8 seconds, but stops after 17/18 seconds… HELP!
You need to grind much finer. Reduce your internal grind size to like 4 and keep the same external setting and slowly bring it up until your shot is between 25 and 30 seconds.
Nice tamping.
Hi Hoon! I have the same machine and coffee but I am struggling to find the right grind setting. You indicated in your video your setting is at 8 but what is the inner burr setting at?
Got mine today, Took a couple grinds to get it prefect but WOW! This one is GOOD! Great coffee flavor!
Great to hear!
Thank you for posting great videos, very helpful! I'm new to Breville barista, but not to esspreso life and I was wondering if you know how much coffee did you pull out of the 18 gram, and where the pressure was seating when you pulled the shot. I notice it took 37 seconds..
Bravo Good advice
Really fun and informative, great info on tasting notes Lavazza coffee’s and where to buy.
Are you using the pressurized filter? I can't get any crema from Lavazza bought from Amazon, because they are, at least, 6 months old. Anybody was able to get crema without a pressurized filter?
I have been drinking Lavazza super crema for the last 6 months, I love it. I have the same Beeville batista machine. I would like to try another bean from Lavazza but not sure which one after seeing your videos. What other Lavazza bean is closer to the super crema?
Try "Grand Crema" they are pretty good as well.
@@HoonsCoffee will do!
Buy using Lavazza do you adjust burr size? I have kinda issues with that 🙂 Thank you
New to channel, love the content. When you reference the grind setting, don’t you need to also have to note the internal burr setting? This way we know the true reference. By the way, had our 1st gen BE for 7 years and probably pulled Over 7000 shots. Was having mechanical issues and decided to retire the machine vs repair. Bought the same machine versus going up to the Dual Boiler or the automatic features of the Touch or Pro. Having the burr adjustment made the gen 2nworth rebuying.
How do you make Lavazza coffee without coffee maker?
I use this coffee for my drip brew....but for espresso I find it way too hard to dial in.
Try Lavazza Tierra Selection
How much ml of water for one cup?
Hey Hoon! Awesome job, I'm really glad I discovered your channel.
Quick question: From your experience which Lavazza coffee works best for cappuccino?
They are good with Milk based drinks for sure.
Where can I buy this coffe machine from?
I have never tried LaVazza coffee. Which one would you recommend? I have the Barista Express aswell.
Enjoy your videos btw!
For latte, SuperCrema. Americano (Caffe Espresso)
How do you store your beans to keep them as fresh as possible?
The more im using it I can see how much I can learn to make better
After a year using it, I'm still learning something new each time!
Can you provide your ranking from top to bottom of Lavazza beans you have tried?
I really like SuperCrema and Caffe Espresso but they have so many different kind of beans I haven't try yet.
What Lavazza beans would you say you like the most : Qualita Rossa or Crema e Aroma ? ☕️
Crema e Aroma. Also, I liked Caffee Espressp as well!
Hoon's Coffee Cool. Thanks for the response!
@@drax14QC I really enjoy talking to you guys.
Hoon's Coffee always fun to talk coffee with people! I enjoy it too ☕️
Thank you for this, what is your grind level ? I tried all and never get it to work except with a mixture of other beans.
I usually start with 8 and go up or down from there.
I buy from local roaster. It cost around $15 for pound. This is the only way I’ve found to get fresh coffee. Where do you get the coffee and how fresh is it? The coffee I buy is around few days old (no more than 7 days)
I just got a used behmor coffee roaster but I need to fix up little. Can't wait to start roasting again!
It is true that local roasters can produce great coffee, however it quite expensive and often inconsistent. If you want a consistent flavour you can't go wrong with Lavazza. Normally, coffee loses fresheness within a month of roasting. However, Lavazza uses a technique called Nitrogen Flushing before bagging their coffee, which gives it a much longer shelf life.
@@AnthonyLauder should i use vaccum sealed container or keep beans in bag?
@@AvivRaphael Heya Sonic, note that vacuum would pull the gases / moister out of the bean. Generally speaking vacuum is useful for dry goods; but, generally the idea of keeping freshness is removing oxygen and other reactive gases. Nitrogen is a "noble" gas and generally does not react with stuff. But this is costlier than just removing oxygen via vacuum.
How do you store coffee after opening the bag?
I store in vacuum coffee canister.
My shot pulls in about 24 seconds with the pressure gauge at 12 o clock. Still, it tastes slightly sour. I don’t taste any chocolate notes at all. I’m using the single shot basket (non-pressurized) basket though. Do you think the double shot basket would taste better?
Try one step finer on your grinder setting.
I usually aim for 30 seconds 1:2 ratio 18-36
What are your setting on the INNER grinder please ? Thanks for the vid!
it is set at 6
@@HoonsCoffee ok thanks. Buying this bean today and will try following your suggestions. What is your all time favourite bean with this machine ?
Hoon's Coffee I just followed EXACTLY what you did, same bean and all, but my shot too fast and no crema :( . I don’t get it
@@joepizzuco5061 Mine was nearly 50% crema. I'd say your inner bur needs adjusting as they're not all equal. Mine is set to 3 with the outer around the 5-6 mark and get 36g in 30 seconds
Hello. I just got a bag and wasted 4 cups, can't get dial right. Its watery and pressure not going up. I did dial setting at 5 , 4, and 3. Still the same. Any suggestions? I have the same machine as you.
What is your inner burr setting at? If your inner burr is at 5 or 6 change to 3 or 4.
@@HoonsCoffee thanks i even had to go to 3 and pressure is up now. I think with the Crema E Aroma grounds it will require a tamp. So now i have to figure out how to get better taste and 25 to 30 sec shot.. currently its running 36 to 40 seconds.
@@mfoy75 How can a low pressure shot take 40 seconds? Something is not right with your machine lol
What was your grinder size setting at!?
Hoon have you thought about doing home roasting? Can you try making a latte with this coffee and let us know how it tastes?
Yes I have! You might to check out my older videos. I have a few how to roast coffee at home videos. It is easy and good quality.
I just got a roster over the weekend. Check out the video coming week!
What setting do you have the internal hopper dialed to,?
I love Lavazza but this specific one I'm not a big fan. It's too "intense" and chocolatey, unlike Lavazza Oro. The bag doesn't say but it might have some Robusta in it, considering that the Italians use some robusta in their espressos for intensity and crema. Anyways it tastes more like Kenyan coffee.
It does have robusta in it. I think it says it on the bag, otherwise it says it on their website as well. I personally like blends that include some robusta for some robustness in the taste, like the classic Italian espresso blends.
How did you get your 18g of beans to completely empty into the burr grinder? When I use the bean hopper on my Breville Barista, when I get to about 1/4 left of my Lavazza beans, I always have to jiggle the plastic tub or use my fingers to move the beans into the bean drop channel opening, otherwise my burr grinders just spins without more beans dropping into the grinder, and then stops?
If I put 18g in I get 17.5 g out. It does retain some beans.
Your grinder was set to 8 what was your internal grinder set too
Set at 6.
Thank you for getting back to me love your info
Hi Hoon, my internal burr grinder setting is 6 and I set the grinder to 8, but it is flushing with low pressure. 🤔. Maybe I should press it harder? Thank you. You are my coffee teacher. Love your coffee channel the best🌹
Don't understand why I can never get in espresso zone when I'm above grind 3 using any type of coffee
Check out this video ruclips.net/video/_4GqqDokW-0/видео.html
I keep reading about people finding lots of rocks in this coffee. Some have had to replace the grinding burrs. Have you ever found rocks in the LaVazza coffee?
So far so good! This is another reason I measure out one shot at a time.
Hi Hoon, I need your help. I'm currently having trouble pulling shots from this particular bag of beans you're pulling in this video. I'm using Barista Pro BES878. Not the same model as yours without the gauge but with a LCD. Anyway no matter what grind size I dial: Finer or Coarser. It still gets very rapid shots around 15 seconds mark. It begins with the pre-infusion and starts pouring at 6-7 seconds and stops at 14-15 seconds. Total seconds: 8 seconds which means the shot is under extracted. Coffee was sour! I can't get the coffee to taste bitter even if I dial it all the way to 30 and it still tasted sour with a fast pour! I can never get past 25-30 seconds no matter what settings I tried. What should I do to fix it? I even warm up the portafilter and the machine but the machine has an auto shut down feature in 30 minutes if no one is using. The point is with the unit on for that long, the group head still wasn't hot or warm enough...
If I dialed in just right I get around 21 secs when first drop hits. I assume you're using a non-pressurized basket. Try with pressurized basket and see what happens. Make sure grinder setting at mid point. With pressurized basket you get right pressurized every time.
Hoon's Coffee I did try the pressurized duo wall double basket but the coffee still came out sour. I forgot to mention that I have a 6 years super automatic espresso machine by Krups and just a few minutes ago I used the same beans in that machine. It was surprisingly drinkable but not tasty. It balanced out the sourness and bitterness. With the brand new Breville machine, all I taste was super acidic sourness! It’s undrinkable. I will contact Breville tomorrow if there’s anything they can do to remedy it. I subscribed to your channel a week ago. You seem to be quite legit about espresso! Keep up the great work!
@@3rd-Wave_Rebel if you're at the finest setting but the shot is still running too fast try adjusting your top burr if you can. If not then you're out of luck, could be the grinder or the quality of the beans. I used to have a similar issue where I would have to go to the finest setting on the top burr and finest setting on the dial before I could get what I would want, I figured out that it was because I was using old supermarket bean. No idea about the science behind it but ever since then I've only been using Lavazza or local beans from cafes or roasters. Now I got alot of leeway whether I wanna go finer or coarser.
Do these beans have a roast date on them?
Can't find it last time I looked at.
What is the grind number?
i would also like to know this!
Grind setting 8; dial ~ you should come close to max or max if you're pre-weighing beans.
@@vincentlau9201 Grind setting 8; dial ~ you should come close to max or max if you're pre-weighing beans.
Personally I try not to buy the flavored coffees their like a rich dessert and I will tire of the flavor to soon. I get my beans from a local roaster and they have special chocolate and caramels you can add that don't have wax in it. There are also some blueberry and orange coffee drinks you can make with fresh fruit. I finally ordered that leveler your using except the one I got has an adjustable tamperer on the other side. Hoping that will help in getting the right tamping pressure as well, I'm so inconsistent in that step. I also started keeping the beans out of the hopper and like you, just measure out what I need. I believe the beans last a little longer in a sealed container and thats a BIG PLUS when buying fresh from a roaster. Hoon, Keep up the great video's I'm learning a lot and always look forward to your next video.
I'm going to start roasting at home again soon! Can't wait to share with you guys how I roast at home.
@@HoonsCoffee Great !!! thats what brought me to your channel in the first place but then it seemed like you quit roasting. Still got hooked on your channel though.
@@runs_on_coffee Just got a used Behmor coffee roaster yesterday but having some issues. Hopefully fix it soon!
Buddy Heidemann these are not flavoured beans. All the flavours come naturally form the roasting process. But gotta agree with you that fresh beans form a local roaster are hard to beat. I still like Lavazza and other store bought coffee.
did you ever try Miscela d'Oro Gran Crema whole espresso bean
