Agree with pretty much everything minus the vrr. Just use ALLM without VRR. With VRR on 60FPS PS5 games don’t run at 60 fps they run between 40 and 58 and 120fps games run between 80 and 90 FPS some make it to 115 fps but with VRR off 120 FPS games are locked at 120 and 60 locked at 60 and ultra smooth with ALLM

It's usually the quality modes that run between 40 and 58 fps and performance modes for the other. 120fps without vrr would be worse than performance mode or won't even be a thing. A good example is spiderman 2, watch digital foundrys video on it
If you put it on automatic it could have just a thing to your TV if you put out the highest it will actually decrease the performance except increase it because you put in more work into your hardware it will actually decrease the performance if you put the resolution on automatic it will increase the performance by boosting it it will adjust it by your TV
In my case HDR has been not the best option. It makes my eyes strain, which makes my gaming uncomfortable. My living room TV (where I use the PS5) is really bright, and HDR automatically sets the brightness to 100%. I was able to modify the amount of brightness afterwards, although this isn’t normally possible. For example, in my PC, my monitor only supports HDR with 100% brightness, so I don’t use it. So, if your eyes strain like me, (even sitting far away from the TV) try turning HDR off.
@vpau010 I am no way an expert on television technologies but I believe Nano Cell is in simple terms a 'souped up' LCD which would make it brighter than OLED. My PS5 is hooked up to our telly in the living room which is a 65" LG OLED CX. I'm not saying it's dull per se but I've never found it overly bright like I did the 65" Samsung QLED Q9FN we had before that.
You only want automatic when you switch your console around with another monitor or tv, its best to select the highest resolution available for your tv

@@RayanDiaz-f2d No, it will automatically drop the render resolution accordingly. If you leave it on automatic, sometimes your display resolution will drop for 120hz when using a 4k 60hz display. You get a worse looking picture and im not even sure you get to see all 120fps

It is not going to reduce stress or reduce input delay. In fact, it’s doing the opposite cuz it has to do another step. The HDR on PS5 is borked and doesn’t work correctly. I have a Sony X89J tv and when enabled the HDR mode just makes the screen too dark, crushes black levels and the overall picture is too dark even when set to maximum. It’s strange how HDR is borked on a Sony TV with a Sony PlayStation console when it works perfectly fine on Xbox series X. Something definitely is not right.
Weird, works perfect on both my a90k and a95k have you hooked your tv upto your internet and updated it? Might just need some updates to support all of the ps5 stuff or you just need to make sure your HDMI input is set to enhanced
@@r4z0r84 yes HDMI is set to enhanced and the tv is hooked up to the internet and is up to date. I bought the TV for the 120hz support and for PS5 compatibility and it’s just borked and is the worst Sony TV I’ve ever bought.
@@joffhall81 damn and you're using HDMI 3? should be able to go to settings - external inputs, HDMI 3 then enable VRR which will lock it into game mode picture setting, hopefully you're not running it through a Yamaha receiver and goes directly from the tv to the ps5 if you are using a Yamaha receiver use optical cable instead of HDMI, could also be it's trying to do 4-4-4 RGB instead of YUV422 which is the max that tv can do, the software has to be the latest to support VRR which is only supported in port 3 and 4.
HDR is known for producing undesired results. In many cases it looks worse than not using HDR. There is too much tuning required to make HDR look remotely as good considering the limited list of games supporting it. Dolby Vision and Auto HDR are better options.

I actually wouldn’t turn HDR on unless you have a top tier HDR display. From what I have seen looking at other people’s IRL set ups they look like crap and it’s because of the low quality HDR washing everything out.

Hey, if your TV only supports to 60 frames per second, I'm assuming it's better to turn off the 120 option? Or should I leave it on automatic? I'm guessing it doesn't make a difference? Even with having it on for 120 since I bought my PS5 there haven't been a single issue as far as I know. But I remember my screen went black for a few seconds a couple of times randomly but I don't know if it's because of that setting being on.
In my experience with a 4k 60hz tv, it drops down the display resolution to 1080p for 120hz when it goes black. Basically, a worse looking picture and im not even sure if you can actually see 120fps
Mine gets mad with VRR, the screen is cut in half, the upper part of the image Is in lower part of the screen and lower in the upper. Not figured out why so far, TV Is of course supporting all VRR ALLM through HDMI 2.1 and I'm using a more expensive 2.1 cable. Xbox Series X works just fine with the same cable on the same TV. Swapping HDMI ports is useless, all 4 are 2.1 😅
I've never actually seen the picture flipped before. Now remember PlayStation is being half-ass with variable refresh rate(VRR) It ONLY supports HDMI VRR not Freesync VRR. There is a major difference. HDMI VRR doesn't work once the FPS drop below a certain FPS. I think it's in the 40s. So if you have an LG that has the game-mode bar make sure that you've got HDMI VRR Turned on... trust me I know PlayStation is being half-assed when it comes to Zen and RDNA 2 feature sets and its STUPID.

The HDR on PS5 is borked and doesn’t work correctly.

This is all good but turn 4k hd to -1 or -2 if your tv could get 120 hertz and turn deep color output on in accessories better for your eyes
you do not want to set -1 or -2
ALLM puts your TV into game mode. Fast games like online shooters will play better because of reduced latency but it will make your visuals worse.
For me turning HDR on makes it cloudy

The game must support 120 hz to actually get a use from that feature. Most of the games right now don't support that feature.
