Great video. Thanks for the tutorial. I have a family friend (senior citizen) that the dealership was about to charge him over $1,000 to fix. Now I can fix it and save him a ton of $ he doesn't have.
What sucks is Ford knows this is a problem in several of their models and has never issued a recall. My Ford dealer quoted me $900 to replace the ACM (Audio Control Module) with no guarantee it wouldn't happen again in the future. If you buy a ACM on line and want to fix it yourself make sure the ACM is from the exact same year and model of your vehicle or it won't work.
The Ford Escape's radio display may stop working if the system's wiring is faulty or You need a factory re-boot of the Audio. To perform a re-set of Ford sync and its stereo screen, follow the outlined steps below. Disconnect the positive battery cable attached to the battery and wait 30 minutes. Re-connect its cables and turn on Your vehicle. The Audio will be re-set and the screen should work. Follow any prompts that may appear. If these steps don't get results, locate the cabin fuse box on the left-hand side of the passenger's footwell, and pull and replace the 20 amp radio fuse, which is number #39. Lastly, a radio failure may be caused by a faulty FDIM or "front display interface module." For more complicated replacements visit a local dealership.
The lower level had NOTHING to do with the radio 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. He did waaaaay too much. Its literally only the 7mm bolts and the bits at the top that need to be removed then pop the radio out
just take out fuse on passenger side under glove compartment #67 for about 2 mins....sync will restart and thats it.....no need to mess with battery....easiest thing ever.
Did is solve the volume limiter for the MY KEY?? my volume is stuck at a whisper level. Any advice?? Only came with 1 key. Supposed to have 2. But I purchased it from someone and not a dealer. They only had the 1 key
I have a 14 escape with the sony sound system. I get this loud feback loop then i lose all sound from the speakers. It's it the same unit that would cause the issue?
Same here, (16 escape) I took out the radio computer ACM (only doing the top part none of the shifter stuff needed to access and remove) cleaned it off made sure the wires were back in nicely and I haven’t had an issue since I did it 8 months ago. If it goes again I might order a new one and replace it. Hoping to avoid that because it will have to be programmed by ford $$$ to make sure it doesn’t mess up anything else. Might just put a sound bar in my car and call it a day if it quits 🤣 but replacing this should fix your problem! 90% of people with this issue is solved by replacing the audio control module (that have come into the ford dealership I worked at) it’s a very common problem.
Thank you very much for the video clip. I will replace the radio with Android head unit. My camera don't work, my rain sensor and the light sensor either. Could you please help me with this situation? Thank you.
I have 2014 excape radio and screen go dead then come back on after a while tried pulling fuse , cleaned all plug in connectors is it radio, screen, or diplay panel ?
How long have all of you had your car. Because I have a 2014 ford escape and I don't have any problems so what is the time estimate before it quits working a couple of months, a year or two.
I also have a 2014 Ford Escape and I just lost audio. ACM needs to be replaced however I'm going to do one other step before I order a refurbished or send this 1 out for repair
I have a 2016 with this same stereo and mine stopped working maybe 4 months ago. I opted for an aftermarket Alpine system with a 7" screen. I could have saved a lot of $ and had it fixed but I do a tremendous amount of driving so I opted for built in Nav
I followed your steps and was able to replace mine. Everything works except the rotating volume knob (up&down) + volume control on the steering wheel. I am only able to adjust volume when I connect to my phone via Bluetooth. Do I need to program the car on a computer to recognize the new radio properly? Or what do you think is the problem?
You don't need to remove cover under the shifter, only remove interface screen and there is tree 7mlmt. Screws but you only remove the two is remain another 1 screw you have to remove that so the whole thing will come out easily, this video is kinda wrong,..
So my ford transit 2017 battery died two days in a row, i was able to fix the monitor the first time. Now its just black, only shows the wrong date and time, cant even change that. I dont want to remove anything but i will if i have to
I have a 2004 Ford Escape.. I have no power what so ever in the dome lights, no radio, doors wont lock with door lock key fob... What could possible have gone wrong?
This is absolutely ridiculous.. At least on my 2007 Escape you could remove it in about a minute.. and that's taking your time. This is not " Fixing " ... this is being a parts changer..
So, you tore out the whole lower dash/console to take out 5 screws from above and never access anything below….good job wasting time to charge for extra labor…

The lower bezel and shifter trim obviously did not need to be removed.

Would you have to replace this if it were bad if for example you were going to install a better radio?
just take out fuse on passenger side under glove compartment #67 for about 2 mins....sync will restart and thats it.....no need to mess with battery....easiest thing ever.
Thanks for the tip, can confirm that this works, however I pulled #79.
Thanks for the tip. Worked great for my problem. Mine was 79 as well though.

@@rhondabowman5421 where you get it from I'd like to upgrade mines as well
I pulled the fuse 7.5 amp and popped it ! Use needle nose pliers and use electric tape or heat shrink on the tips .. Anyways it's back to normal now 🤪
Did this also affect the emergency lights my emergency button ain’t working?
This is the EXACT problem I'm having but I already replaced the reciever? Still didn't work?
I'll just use headphones.
What’s that box called? What do I look up to order?
Any ideas the volume not working? Display is ok but no sound
How did u fix that ? Mine has the same issue everything works but no sound 😩
Same how do we fix!!!
@@lillyhammond683 did you ever figure it out??

Did you install are used radio? It could be a security issue
@@americantech1180 Got a used one off Ebay. How to solve that if it's the case?
I only replace this with new. I wish I could help but I have never put a used one in.
Thanks for the feedback
No problem
great job!!

do you really need to remove so many things around?
Nope
I have a 2016 that radio goes in and out. It work for an hour then i get static and a click and it doesn't work for like a week l

So... This should specify that it's a 2013 model in the title cause I have a 2010. Not the same display.
Mine doesn’t get any radio stations but it does read a cd if i put one in. Just no sound at all. You think i have the same issue as you?
Mines also
Try removing the fuse. It sets it back to factory defaults.
Which fuse?
@@nhudong9393 If you have to ask that than you shouldn't be messing with it.
Dawg… you didn’t have to take any of that other shit off with the shifter lol

I have a 2015 ford escape and radio is not working
Great video, remind me to never buy a Frickin Ford.
This is not a fix video but a replacement video - if you know the radio unit is the culprit....
Why can’t I use my aux cord though?
I have a problem where the radio turns on but all I get is static. No station comes in.
That’s an antenna issue
And how do solve the antenna problem? I have a similar issue.
Whats the name of the actual "piece" that needed replaced? Im having the same issue with mine but i don't know what that part is called
Perry Martin radio control unit
@@americantech1180 thank you

Man you didn't even have to take the shifter apart you could have done all that from the top only should have taken you 10 min instead of 30

I’ve seen someone take that out with way less of a process
