Hi Henry. Lovely video... One thing - are these not sea otters? Sea otters are quite a bit bigger than river otter and given you filmed this around Mayne Island, I'd put my $0.05 on these being sea otters.
Hi Henrik, these are North American River Otters which are semi aquatic. Sea Otters (which also live in British Columbia) typically swim on their back and very rarely come to ashore. Their fur on their head is a lot light that river otters and like you said are quite a bit larger!
