Thank you for taking the time to teach us about the importance of PM.
If possible, can you please post a video of how you use multimeters, loop detector testers or other common troubleshooting devices you carry with you on the field.
    Thank you again for sharing!

Here in Victoria Australia we refer to the A4 paperwork as the op-sheet (operation sheet) we call the maintenance log cards in the controller "pinkys" sometimes the op sheets and pinkys get eaten by ants. We can get really serious problems with ants. Another interesting thing here is in our controller specs no fans shall be used. Everything is cooled by convection only. Some controllers can get the shits in the summertime. One particular model of controller produced in the mid 2000's was notorious for conking out in the heat. We would arrive at the site (flashing amber) and take the electronic cards out and put them on the dash of the service vehicle and cool them down again with the aircon on. That would normally see it through the day but it might happen again the following day. Some old controllers made by Eagle Signal here from the late 60's early 70's in Melbourne operated using RTL which was really interesting in the summertime. They did all sorts of weird and wonderful things in the heat 😂

Hi Everyone... Here is a link to my "PM Checklist" that I use when I visit an intersection.. docs.google.com/document/d/1jQvAJwxnrfsB5uLzRtR3ilgBkSQqNPx7jv7jZBnfbOg/edit?usp=sharing

Could you do a video on a 332 cabinet with a 170 controller or 2070 if you come across one. Cool video bro 👍🏽

Thanks Mando! I do have some 332 cabinets here, but I've converted them from 2070 controllers to Econolite (safetran) because not everone here likes the Eagle 2070's. I can probably arrange a video with a friend that maintains 2070's on the regular for the state.

Traffic Signals Training yeah, that will be cool. I haven’t had any time on a safetran yet. Mainly McCain 170,2070’s, ASC2 and 3’s. Any tips and tricks on 332’s will be cool to. Thanks

Sorry, The "safetran" I'm speaking of is an Econolite ASC3, so it sounds like you may have some experience with that.

I think your videos are really good. Hope you continue to expand your work. It is really nice seeing technicians that want to share what they know with the public and other folks in the industry!

PM is important but is electrical safety recognized as important? OSHA states that workers, who are exposed to greater than 50 volts or more, have electrical safety training. With that, shock hazards, and in this case 120 volts, are recognized and shock PPE is worn. Example given, hot gloves. Why don't traffic/signal techs get training on this? Do they get electrocuted or shock like electricians? Or are traffic/signal techs special?

What’s a problem that comes up pretty often inside one of the cabinets? When you are conducting your PMs what’s your routine?

Often you may find a historical fault on a detector card, when a splice begins to fail in a pull box the loop can short when exposed to water after a heavy rain.. in this case you may reset the detector card but often the splice will need to be remade..
Here in the Seattle area during the summer season, ants and other pests can cause headaches .. we typically have to set baits and spray when a cabinet is infested.
Graffiti and vandalism is frequently an issue closer to the metropolitan areas...prompt removal is key as a deterrent from future vandalism.
On a PM we arrive at the cabinet,
Walk the crosswalks and test all ped pushbuttons, then check all indications.
Observe cycle. When in the cabinet we replace the sir filter, and dust and vacuum. In the controller we compare and verify phase timing and document any adjustments. If the timing sheet needs to be updated we print a new one. We save the controller data to a data key or thumb drive.
I also like to check screws for tightness, particularly on the field wiring.
This isn't everything, but it's a basic pm in a nutshell really.

The 390s are rock solid no joke. The one I acquired was the 390CJ (I think the "CJ" version had upgraded CPU, RAM and CMOS from the 390 units, but I'm not sure). My one complaint is how close the MS-A, B, C, and D connectors are. They are a pain in the butt to remove since they were not designed for large hands LOL. Almost have to use a a channel lock pliers to disconnect them.

Your videos are always good, and the explanations are very detailed. I think people need to realise just how complicated or, should I say, sophisticated the equipment in these boxes are. Technology has come on in leaps and bounds since the early days of mechanical relays. Thank you for doing these videos and helping others understand how the traffic light system works.

I have to say your extemporaneous style is quite rare; to present an informed & comprehensive speech without relying upon notes or rote memorization is impressive. Most attempts would be overly distracting, with "Uh's" and "Like" or lost trains of thought. Good work.
