This game's story really surprised me. When I arrived in Fantasy Land I was confused why the music was so emotional. And that's when I realized that we've been playing as a developer of the original Fantasy Land, and from that point everything else in the game just clicked for me. The dread of being a developer and having to drop a project that you're passionate about, while also dealing with the backlash from the community saying that you abandoned it and left them in the dust.

Instead its an hour of fine intro stuff that feels exactly the same as Boneworks, a waste of time doing boring unfleshed out minigames, then a bit later you get the avatars which are pretty fun but hardly utilized well, then the game is over an hour later with absolutely no fanfare. Boneworks had cool, expansive levels with hidden areas, different things to find and do, the story was intriguing and made me want to hit every wall and try every door for secrets or potential lore in a room i missed. None of this exists within Bonelab. Its essentially a longer demo for the avatars and then "wait til the community puts content in our game".

Really want more story. You didn’t seem to notice, but the ‘lost ID card’ taped to the window in the Taxi is Arthur Ford’s! Really hoping they bring him back. I’m so excited for modding. This game has so much potential. I mean, it’s awesome to start. I took 18 hours to finish the story, because I was exploring every nook and cranny. I enjoyed every minute of it!
I don't have a VR setup so I've been enjoying these playthrough immensely! I also wanted to mention that I've heard this from others and I have to agree, this game really is the half life of VR! I cannot WAIT for what the coming years have in store for the VR industry! Brandon and his team are absolute geniuses!!!
@@TNMPlayer They took a risk by making a triple AAA VR game. And they revolutionized VR because they tackled many problems, subtle and large that involves making a high quality campaign in VR. Bonelabs tries to be revolutionary, but as long as it's janky and put together with duct tape it's not going to do anything. Half-life alyx is a VR game that has high quality levels, missions, combat, voice acting and gameplay refined to the T. No amount of IK physics is going to beat that. Valve developers have enough self awareness and common sense to take out the crowbar, they tried it and it didn't work. And that's what makes Valve, Valve. If something isn't working on every level, they take it out. Only people that praise physics combat in VR are VR nerds whose tolerance for jank and make-belief is way higher than the average person. Blade and sorcery's combat is really not as good as people make it out to be.

One thing I wanted to commend is the editing in these videos. The music is AMAZING in bonelab, and making sure it's uninterrupted by video edits/cuts is just 🤌
during my playthrough when i returned to the fantasy land village i felt kind of sad for the villagers because they were all depressed because they were abandoned by their creator.
This. I avoided killing any (non-null) villagers because it wasn't their fault that they didn't know any better. (The nullmen were killed by their own cultist turrets, so not my fault either.)
Having just finished the story myself, I gotta say, going through Fantasy Land at the end, with new model types presented, and then using a sword and shield to complete the whole thing, it felt incredibly immersive. The shield can block the red explosive blasts, making for easy work of stabbing my bastard sword right through that single eye. And a fitting soundtrack to accompany. Felt like a king.

During reaching the roots where you acquire the shot gun, I keep getting stuck in that room, even if I kill all the null bodies. The fight music continues to play and I get locked in
I've got a theory, the box you break that's held in the containment cell is not only Ford. But most of Boneworks itself. I feel like Ford won in the end of BW, and Monogon still needed the Boneworks to have Myth run correctly and they didn't want Ford running about. So, huck Ford and the Boneworks in a box. Throw all that into a hole. And throw that hole away. Leave it at the very bottom of Bonelab, where no regular person is going to look. And ditch it. One day, you (still have no idea who the player character is. at least to my knowledge) stumble upon it with help from Jimmy. And thats how the ascent starts. Ford helps you not only escape but starts the ascent. Or maybe, I'm an idiot

I've got a theory, the box you break that's held in the containment cell is not only Ford. But most of Boneworks itself.
I feel like Ford won in the end of BW, and Monogon still needed the Boneworks to have Myth run correctly and they didn't want Ford running about. So, huck Ford and the Boneworks in a box. Throw all that into a hole. And throw that hole away. Leave it at the very bottom of Bonelab, where no regular person is going to look. And ditch it.
One day, you (still have no idea who the player character is. at least to my knowledge) stumble upon it with help from Jimmy. And thats how the ascent starts. Ford helps you not only escape but starts the ascent.
