The Watain comparison is valid. Sweden Rock Festival 2010, first time I saw Watain live. After their regular set the band left the stage and Quorthon's dad 'Boss' Forsberg came up on the stage and did an introduction. Then Watain came on stage again and did a mini set of I think 6 Bathory songs as a tribute. It was really awesome.
Legendary song, album and artist..Im a big fan of Norwegian black metal,Bathory is probably the biggest influence on those bands that created the genre...
While Quorthon didn't invent Black Metal, he certain pioneered it. On the other hand, he *did* invent Viking Metal, of which *Twilight Of The Gods* and *Gods Of Thunder Of Wind And Of Rain* are great examples. And yes, listening to *Bathory* is like riding a bike, you've got to experience it for a while to really get into it. I love it due to the range of their discography, from their first few albums being rough and brutal, to their latter-day albums with their melody and concepts, and those two times they did thrash.
Listening Bathory is something special, give special energy to mind,am big fan of Bathory..Under the Sign and first album is favorite..King Quorthon is one in generation..amazing talent for metal..Great Respekt for him..
Bathory fan here..yes Blood Fire Death is excelent adventure for true metal fan's..King Quorthon give us ultimate music..uniqe style..Hail King Quorthon..
