I wonder how much 722 would sell for now, considering the Uhlenhaut Coupe went for £135m! It must be near the £200m mark! I suppose it just depends on timing and how deep pockets are!
My comment of 2 years ago. GREATEST motor racing legend" was not based on simply racing statistics. Stirling Moss was never a World Champion. Jim Clark was more successful as a driver. My original comment stands, Stirling Moss, dedicated his entire life to competing and supporting motor racing, driving well into his late 80's. This sets him apart from any other racing driver. Stirling Moss is an iconic ambassador for Motorsport. The greatest motor racing legend that has lived. Without a doubt in my mind.
Motorsport Magazine has just republished Jenks report on the 1955 Mille Miglia when he and Moss won in that car. It's fascinating. It's a must read for any endurance race driver. The secret? Drive a long race like its a short sprint. If you are one second faster than the opposition in each 1 hour stage, you will be 10 minutes ahead at the end.
WOW just WOW.Jenks and Moss reunited in that awesome beast.Jesus I have a lump in my throat.
RIP Sir Stirling - unbeaten alltime champion
THE BEST OF THE BEST,Rest in peace,Jenks and Stirling.
