Stiles was cutting Derek's arm bc (if I remember correctly) Derek was shot by a bullet with wolfsbane (poison for werewolves) and the venom was spreading to his body, so he "asked"/made Stiles cut his arm off and then he would heal. Edit: OMG I never had so many likes😯

Explaining: Stiles was going to cut Derek's arm off in that one scene because he got shot in the arm with something that could kill him if it got to his heart. So he Told stiles to cut his arm off so the poison doesn't kill him. Stiles said he wasn't going to because he is extremely bad with blood hahaha. So that's what happened there. But then Scott got there in time with the cure

Derek was shot with a special bullet-with a rare and lethal kind of wolfsbane-by a hunter. It infects very quickly and if the infection reaches the heart, the werewolf dies. In order to trigger the healing, you either have to cut the limb off(so the wolfsbane doesn’t reach the heart), or find another one of the same species, burn it, and then press the remaining ashes into the wound until it heals. Derek(the one with the wound) asked (more like threatened) Stiles to cut his arm off because Scott(the one that came in at the end) was taking too long to find one of the same bullet
A Wolfsbane bullet was shot into Derek’s arm they were going to cut it off before the infection reached his heart. While Scott had to try and get the bullet from the argents (werewolf hunters) house in order to stop the infection. (Sorry I’m late.)
