I love seeing Lou putting the ingredients in the baked beans without measuring the ingredients. I especially loved when Lou told Dan that he wasn’t going to put all the onions in the beans. They are so fun to watch each week!!!! Thank you for the weekly entertainment!!! The beans needed in the casserole dish and not in the cast iron skillet. Sorry Dan 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I am loving this rebellious side of Lou today. She says 'I am Woman, Hear me Roar and I don't need no stinkin' measuring spoons!! 😋 And I do agree with Lou, way too many onions in the beans 😊
My husband an I also prefer mayo instead of miracle whip. My husband flat out refuses to eat miracle whip. I can barely get him to eat the Kraft mayo because he prefers the original Helmans mayonnaise
@@Weeks25 Not surprising, miracle whip is not mayo, it is a mayo based salad dressing, says so right on the label. Seriously Good Mayo from Heinz is very good according to my co worker who normally really struggles with it but really likes that one.
another good recipe for potato salad is the one on the Hellman's mayo jar, the only thing I do differently from on that recipe is, I add extra mayo because I like a wetter potato salad. Lou, to get the full flavor of the onion without chunks is an easy fix. Use your mini processor cut onion into small chunks and add about ahalf cup or so of water BEFORE you turn on the machine then drain the onion in a fine mesh strainer and add to the salad.(toss the liquid) I use celery seed in place of diced celery, never use onion salt because it'll get to salty. I've been cooking from scratch for over 50 yers and I must say sometimes watching you two in the kitchen is painful. I wish I could record myself while I watch you go at it.

I use Bush beans. Fry up some bacon, onions, and a little garlic to add to the beans. Then I just toss in some more brown sugar, some molasses and some dry mustard powder to take them over the top. Hi Dan and Lou .I just need to tell you how much i loved watching you cooking ur own fish and chips. Great job cooking around all the oil and heat on such a hot day. Much love to you all from Australia. xxx
I make potato salad like my mom did. I cook the potatoes with the skins on, wait for them to cool (I usually cook them the night before), then peel & cut into chunks. I really don't measure anything, just add to taste. I usually do for a large group so I cook 5# of potatoes, 8-10 hard boiled eggs, chopped onions. The dressing consists of real mayonnaise, yellow mustard, salt, pepper, celery salt, a sprinkle of paprika, sweet pickle relish and some chopped pimento for color. Mom always mixed with her hands, that's probably why hers always tasted better to me than mine does, but I made this for Father's Day dinner this year & came home with an empty bowl, so I guess it was good. I also had a potato salad at a party that had fresh dill in it, it was delicious but I don't have the recipe for it, I'm not sure if she used mayo or yogurt as the base for the dressing.
My favorite seasoning are Salt, Pepper, Onion Powder, and Garlic Powder for the majority of my recipes.....I love Pawpaw's shirt with Amy & Heidi....I always enjoy gettin' together with The Morrows and their opinions on the food....Kash's face was priceless he is like "you fooled me twice but nope to the third"
My potato salad is much simpler but I think it allows you to taste the natural flavors. Diced potato, cooked Hardboiled eggs Miracle Whip Garlic powder Minced onions (the seasoning ones not raw) Salt Pepper The trick is how to combine it. Separate the whites and the moons. The bowl with the moons, put your miracle whip and seasonings then use a hand mixer to make it really smooth. Add more miracle whip if it looks too dry. Then add that to the potatoes, add the whites, mix it all together. Add more seasonings after a taste test if needed. So simple but so good. ❤❤
Miracle whip will definitely make that potato salad taste different. It's really sweet where regular mayo is not. If the recipe called for regular mayo, next time try the regular mayo.
I love Bush’s Original Baked Beans. I doctor them with bacon, puréed onions, molasses, a little yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar. Cook them in a crockpot, on low, for about 4 hours. Yummy!

My potato salad is simple: boil potatoes till tender and dice, boil eggs and dice, 3 or more dill pickles diced, medium onion diced, miracle whip or mayo, mustard, salt and pepper, celery seed, to taste, dash of pickle juice. Mix all together. Best if served cold. Add ingredients to your own desired amounts.

Baked beans onions, hot dogs sliced and bacon sliced against the grain. A little brown sugar and a little powdered Colemans hot mustard mixed together for zing in beans. Pre cook bacon, onions and hot dogs add beans v and brown sugar mix.
Pro tip for Dan the man. When you dice the onion prep it like your doing but only slice to the edge of the onion without completely going through it. Then turn the onion sideways and dice. Not cutting all the way through it will hold all the strips of onions together so you don't have to put them all back together to try and dice them.

Quick tip on beans. Get bacon and chop up in small pieces. Saute the onions with the bacon then do the rest like you do. I myself do not add ketchup. And I use pork n beans. But every cookout we have it's Bring your beans Michelle". 😁
Tater salad. Chopper or egg slicer for whole eggs, Start with seasonings and pickle juice then mayo or ranch dressing. . No onion in salad as it spoils faster just powder, celery salt, coriander powder and celery sticks sliced, thin then diced, carrot half grated fine and either sweet or dill relish spicy brown mustard. You can sub ranch dressing for mayo. Eliminate pickle and add black or green olives. Still use pickle juice.
With my baked beans I use porknbeans and drain them over night in fridge. In morning add chopped onion, squirt of mustard, lid of molasses, 2 lids chile sauce( sold by katsup in stores) mix well put in baking dish add 4 strips of bacon to top. Bake 350 until bacon in crisp
