    Finally! A project for all those leftover pallet wood scraps from covering my porch walls. Nice sled, too!

    Love it! Local creators working together and of course, using scraps and a great looking result.

    I now finally understand Tim Henson's studio art, it was functional all along

    I have to admit, I've never seen someone edge-band plywood with another, thinner bit of plywood. I think it turned out great!

      lol. Yea, that was sort of a fun "joke" so to speak. For years I've been experimenting with reclaimed hollow core doors. Adding this to my list :)

    That's awesome. Nothing makes me more nervous than repetitive cuts like you did there on the table saw. It's a real challenge (for me) to remain mindful of the blade when I'm doing the same cut over and over.

    • @timsway
      @timsway  8 месяцев назад +2

      Yea, I talked about that at length in a video a few years ago. It's a legit concern, to lose focus. I rend to set little goals for myself to take breaks, like do a pile, turn the saw off and walk away for a sip of coffee, go back... this helps me keep the tunnel vision away.

    The depth and angle of each block is actually a really complex thing to get right. Theres a website that tells you how large you make each block and where to place it based on your specific needs. Quite a fascinating thing as i always just thought it was about not having a flat surface and scattering the sound but no, its really scientific

      @@LoveGuitar63277 Just search for "quadratic residue diffuser", lots of info on the topic. To get it absolutely right is complex, but DIY "random enough" designs can still provide some acoustic benefit.

      Yea, I didn’t do any math. Lol. I Just visualize sound moving like water and how it would react on various surfaces :)

      Yes you can actually tune the panels for a specific frequency range depending on your studios needs.

    I have a bunch of scrap wood and a bedroom that’s slowly becoming a music and recording space in my small apartment. I’ve been thinking of building a diffusion panel for a little while and your excellent video has added inspiration. Thanks for that!
    I’m curious to know what kind of finish you sprayed on at the end.

    • @timsway

      It’s a big space so the difference is not noticeable to the naked ear over all. Where it needs to be tested is “under the microscope “ with people and mics in front of it, where it “should” help the overall audio quality in the boom mic. Hasn’t happened yet but sometime soon
