Nice video Brian, liked the commentary. We did a similar route back in April, but the opposite way.
Climbed up via Sunrise Peak (should be called Speargrass Peak), camped at Poverty Basin. Summited Mount Owen then spent the night at Fyfe River Hut.
Good effort on the path finding, we got bluffed out several times on the way to Poverty Basin and finding the summit.
Fyfe river track was a bit of a chore, very overgrown and slippery!

Great video, tramping at its finest👍. I liked and subbed. I did Mt Owen once but just the regular route from Courthouse flat. Nice country up there.

Thanks for the sub - plenty of route options to keep it interesting

Looks a really good route - and sufficiently adventurous to make it interesting! You did a lot of 'off track' work and did well given the poor visibility at times. No whio but ongaonga instead! It's an area I'd really like to explore when I return to NZ in January.

Yes a good loop track with varied terrain. The geology in the area adds an extra dimension. The poor visibility meant we didn't bother summiting Mt Owen but that's also worth while.
