Understanding plumbing is a great way to resolving the problems. Many times I talk to people that get aggravated with fixing leaks under their sink...here I take away the mystery.
My dad is 83 and watching Fox news full volume and I am fixing his pipe. I feel lucky to still have him and proud he taught me I can follow directions and fix it myself. And not embarrassed to call someone when I can't.
Was about to call my landlord to fix my sink. thanks to this video you saved me the stress of meeting with my unhelpful landlord and time away from work.
I lost my father last year, now I live with my mother. thank you for giving the great advice, I am now capable of picking up slack the house needed. you are a blessing!
Thank you for taking the time to actually EXPLAIN everything. So many of these home repair RUclips channels rely solely on visuals without properly explaining the fundamentals.
You're a life safe man, I'm only 15 and im trying to fix my moms sink because it would drain so slow. Then I took out the pipes and put them back together I realised that water was leaking out the pipes good thing I didn't throw away that piece
I FIXED IT without having to bother my husband or call a plumber!!! The tapered flange was upside down, and the pipes were disconnected. I flipped it over, and it all screws back into place now! Great explanation! Thank you!
I've watched a score of videos now and this is the first one that explained the process of replacing a p trap simply and clearly. Thank you for your help
I spent $120 for a plumber about a year ago to fix a leak. This weekend another leak but fixed it myself. With mine it was all about that that plastic ring that acts like a seal. It had slipped off and I slipped it back on, tightened up things and no more leaks. One more thought, the ring was very tight and took some elbow grease to put back on..Happy do it yourself. Very good video. God loves you.
Totally funny...I wonder if most people just didn't get it, perhaps thinking that the "joke" was that in this high tech world he didn't have a newspaper, but hilarious about his search for the exact copy...
Thank you! I took my sink apart because I have a wife and three daughters and the stuff that gets clogged in there (mostly hair) could gag a maggot. Anyhow, I cleaned it and put it back together had a tiny leak. After watching your video I realized I had the gasket upside down so it wasn't creating a proper seal. I appreciate you and people like yourself posting these types of videos. I wish I had a little more faith in myself because I could research videos and do a ton of things around the house LOL. Thanks again!
My drain kept leaking, I was fixing it temporarily cause I was doing it all wrong with the O ring. Thank you so much. Pipes now firmly on and cost me $2.37 for new O rings . Thank you sooooo much!
I I am legally blind and was able to feel my way under the sink and was able to fix a leak I have been waiting for three days for a plumber to come and fix my leak and still have to wait till next Monday another four days. They were going to charge me $79 for the service call plus any repair work and parts. Thanks to you I can save my money and I don’t have a leak or a bad smell anymore you are super. Perfect for someone who has a very low income
@@bigbiemacaw Ha Ha! Me toooo!! my duct tape stopped working and today I decided to bite the bullet and at least remove the duct tape, which I did, but can't loosen the ring thingy! Even tried WD-40 . I don't have rubber gloves like the other lady suggestedd!
Great job with the detail!!! I learned once in a class and took notes but needed your video for a quick reference little did I know I would receive an entire break down! Thank You!
I wish I would watch this a few weeks ago. Spend $80 and still have the same problem. I'm going in now to fix it right. Thanks again. I love your very detailed descriptions.
Thank you fixed my sink in no time - thought I’d need a plumber but following your instructions I was able to do it myself- very clear and easy to follow 👍☺️
Thank you for this video. It gave me the confidence boost to troubleshoot the leaking coming from one of the loose connections in the p-trap. Your content is timeless. Very grateful.
We replaced the new pipe with tape and a gasket the way the old one was done. Turns out you were exactly right. No tape, no gasket, hand tightened appropriately and No LEAK! Thank you so much!
Bob, You're the "BEST!" I followed your instructions to the 'T.' The leak is gone, at least, for now. However, the unattachable O ring seems to be wearing out and needs to be replaced. I was headed to Home Depot, but they closed early due to the holiday. Anyhow, I can't say THANK YOU! enough. But Thank You!...Thank You!...Thank You.
You are the man; I spent all day tapping and using silicone. Turned on the sink and bingo it leaks like a sieve. I used no tape no glue all hand tight NO LEAKS.... I LOVE YOU. mAYBE i will get a piece tonight. I owe you a Beer...
Oh my gosh thank you so much!!! Thought I need to call my landlord just by watching your video I noticed my seal was not on correct which was causing the leak ❤️🙏🙏 you helped me look like a total badass in front of my boys 💪🤣🤣
Very well done video. Simple description of parts, purpose, and process of the all the pipes and connectors in the odd assembly. I just wanted to fix a leak . Now I have enough info to replace everything under the sink with updated pieces. Thanks dude PS: Using newspaper as a leak detector was pretty darn sensible too
Thank you so much for this! I was worried I had broken something but after watching your video and following this procedure while it took me a few tries, I could stop the leak. I appreciate you sharing your expertise.
Thank you this helped me so much in my kitchen sink I’m a single mom and fixed it all by myself with having to pay an arm and legs for a Plumber to come out
*Super helpful! Replaced a leaking bathroom faucet with no experience. 6+ trips to Home Depot and almost 8 hours later, I think I may have solved the final issue with the infamous P Trap! I used some extra sealant today to fix the inner threads and no leaking so far! 8 hours of work and frustration will save me $1000s over my lifetime as I now have a PhD in Plumbing! It's just unfortunate I bought like half of Home Depot's plumbing section during troubleshooting lol!* Thank God for their return policy!
Thanks for this. Last night brushing my teeth before bed, I felt water at my feet. The pipe from the sink pulled out form the P Trap. Sopped up the water. Now I know how to go about fixing this. Only problem I can see it there seems to be no threads hard to believe as that sounds. I kept spinning the nut and it wasn't grabbing anything. Will taker it apart in a bit and see what's what. I hate this house I bought in FL 2 years ago. NOTHING but problems & it's only 20 years old.
Helped so much! Whenever I turned the garbage disposal on or did dishes with soapy, sudsy water there would be a massive flood under my kitchen sink. This was well explained and so simple!
Thank you so much - I just found one of the connections totally unconnected, but hadn't quite figured out how to get it reconnected the flange being in the wrong place. Your video saved me a money and grief.
This video was such a help! I followed the steps and was able to clean the trap in our bathroom. Directions were clear and straightforward, along with the video itself being easy to see what was being done. Thank you.
Thank you so much, I've had a leak for days (stressed) and your video was so easy to follow. Yes, as soon as I can I will make a contribution because you're worth it.
Thank you so much. We just had a big time leak under our kitchen sink, turns out the free flanges were in the wrong way. The Vibration from the disposal worked the nut off. Watch your video, saw the issue and fixed it, all is great now. Thanks!
OMG---sink wouldn't drain--pretty sure it was my daughter's hair--decided I could fix this--how hard could it be? I was in deep, deep trouble until I watched this video---I got it apart based on sheer determination---but then couldn't figure out how to get it back together---was seriously panicking--I went to you tube before calling my local plumber and found this wonderful gem---THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. You save me money and probably an argument with my husband:)
Me too! When I finally got it all back together it was leaking everywhere I was baffled and so frustrated. Never thought of RUclips, now after three days of panic, swearing and despair it's fixed! I had the washers in the wrong place. So pleased I found this!
Thanks for the video. It was a great tip that you gave me when you said I didn't need plumbers putty, caulking or tape. I just fixed my leaking laundry sink and didn't run to the store to buy that extra stuff! Especially when you said these should be hand tight. 😃👍
I'm in the middle of preparing everything for tomorrow's Thanksgiving dinner when suddenly i notice my dog drinking from a pool of water at the base of my kitchen sink cabinets! Your clear explanation saved the day, and I was able to fix my sink drain before the demo vid was even finished!!
Oh My Gosh, thank you, thank you, thank you. I’ve had a leak I’ve been dealing with for about a year. You have helped me and so many others with this video. Thank you for taking the time and sharing your knowledge.
I tried caulk and I tried duct tape and I tried tightening with a wrench!! None of it worked. Ha ha. All the things you said. This video was exactly what I was looking for. I’ll tear off the tape and caulk and try and reconnect just as you said. Thank you.
This was amazingly helpful video. The replacement P-Trap that I had purchased contained an unnecessary washer that the instructions said to put at the smaller end where the trap met the wall tube. After watching this video, I realized that it was unnecessary, as there is already a flange. Plus, I was over tightening with pliers. After removing that washer, and hand tightening, everything is fine!
Your comment made me wonder if mine was put together wrong. Sure enough, the flange was upside down. I flipped it around, and the pipes finally fit together! So thankful for this video (for demystifying this) and your comment for getting me thinking! Thank you!
Thanks Bob! Much appreciated. Ive always been a little hesitant to NOT use teflon tape, but I ve heard that teflon is NOT necessary. You just reinforced that for me.
