The Watchtower's take on "apostates" is ridiculous and entirely self-serving. An apostate, according to them, is merely a critic (technically an ex-JW critic but in practice *any* critic). But they themselves admit that they are imperfect men, and not above criticism. So their practice is another instance of talking out of both sides of their mouth at the same time -- "we admit we can mistakes" and "anyone who points out our mistakes is an enemy of Jehovah".

I sent that morning worship video to my Dad who is an elder with a comment: you wouldn't want to play this one in front of unbelieving relatives or newly interested ones. But he was fine with it, and said one day our message will be one of judgement! So in other words, in the future we will preach bad news. But what about Galations 1:8,9? I wish I could get my dad to listen to these videos. He disagrees with a lot of the WT teachings but says he's waiting for them to change as has happened many times where he had a different view but they came out with "new light" that was in line with his thinking. He knows they are wrong but refuses to let go. I suspects its because hes almost 70. If heaves now then his whole life would have been wasted.

I'd give anything if my father was still alive to watch these videos. I'd love to get his take on them. He was a wise man like Eric, in terms of discernment and logic, also an elder in the organization, fair and open-minded. I can't help but feel that he would readily see that the linchpin has detached itself from the wheel. My sister is like your father, she can't deal with it, she'd rather keep her head buried in the sand, and I get it, sometimes ignorance is bliss, (not really though as I'd rather know the truth) it's taken a year for me to come to terms with it. It's been unfathomable to accept that some of the core doctrines we have been taught are apparently wrong. The grieving has been immense. I feel utter disillusionment and despair. I hadn't a clue for the longest time that the organization taught that Jesus wasn't our mediator. I was stunned by it. When the Bible says that Jesus is the mediator for all, what does "All" mean to you? The Bible doesn't say just for the anointed only, and where does the Bible state that our mediator is the 144,000? It doesn't. Then there is the overlapping generation doctrine? Seriously? They seem to be grasping at straws. You know what the hardest part is for me? The realization that we could actually grow old and die. Yes, we have the promise of a resurrection, but we have been so conditioned to believe that we would never die that it's actually psychologically damaging to one's psyche to now realize that we probably will. People in the world have years to accept that they will die, they see it as inevitable, they accept it, but when raised as Witnesses that thought wasn't even in our vocabularies, we were going to live through Armaggeddon and into God's new world. We were the fortunate ones but now we have to accept at this late date that we just might die after all, and that to me is the hardest thing of all.

My father died over a lack of magnesium and a careless nurse who gave him a fast drip when she was told to give him a slow drip which threw him into code blue and cardiac arrest. I was told by my parents when I was a child that there was no way I would ever be a teenager before the end would come and it just went on from there. it's impossible to capture all of the feelings and place them into words. Isaiah 66 is clearly *not* referring to apostates, what Tony Morris apparently does is take the final verse completely out of context and applies it to apostates. Reading all the verses in the context of the chapter prior to that shows that is clearly *not* what the chapter is about. That's the problem with taking a single Bible verse out of context that seems to agree with a certain position and applying it to prove something one already believes or wants it to mean. A more reasonable approach might be to read Bible verses in context, *then* draw a conclusion as to it's meaning. Bro.Tony seems to take the reverse approach.

As to making God's name Jehovah known, Isaiah 43 was uniquely applicable to Israel as a witness against the false gods of the pagans around them, and it was never used as a label to identify the Israelites. But what did God say about Christians? That they were a people for his name. What were the Christians in Antioch first called by Divine providence? "Jehovah's Witnesses?" Oh, wait, No! They were called Christians, after Christ. This is in accordance with what Jesus himself said that "ALL authority in heaven and on earth has been given me" and that all disciples were to be baptized in the name of Jesus, not Jehovah. Your preaching does not honor Christ as you put in the background the one who received "the name above all names!" So, your pretense at being the true religion because of the name Jehovah doesn't fool me one bit!
@God is Love Apparently you are blind to how many times Jesus condemned the Pharisees. But not once did he call people who questioned him apostates. Neither did Peter call Paul an apostate when Paul criticised him and exposed an hypocritical behaviour of Peter. The Society has weaponized the term apostates to a hateful label to slap on anyone who has a critique on their uninspired opinions. Jesus and Jehovah did not do this. They engaged in conversations even with Satan. They were not afraid of criticism. Only people who have darkness are afraid of the light. JW's don't baptize "in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit." They merely ask if a person has dedicated their life to Jehovah, and the Holy Spirit doesn't even get a mention at all anymore. What does get mentioned is that by their baptism they become a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses. So, if you want to count a mere mention of Jehovah and Jesus in the baptism talk as "being baptized in their name", than the reality is that Witnesses are being baptized "in the name of Jehovah, the Son and the Organisation of JW's". Certainly not according to the model of 1st century Christians.

Even someone who is on the Governing Body is not able to have and hold onto an opinion based on facts, if the opinion of the other members of the GB is something else. He can ask questions and present the facts, verifiable facts!, but if the others don't like those facts, he will be forced to recant, just like the Catholic Church in the Middle-Ages did force so-called "heretics" to recant their biblical opinions that did not match Catholic doctrine. Now, you will say, "How can you know this?" I know this because there was such a member of the GB who had a conscience and who was a researcher for the book "Aid to Bible Understanding." All his research to confirm the 607 BCE date for the fall of Jerusalem failed. Instead he discovered that ALL professional researcher, hundreds and hundreds of them, confirm 587/586 BCE as the fall of Jerusalem. There was also a pioneer brother in Scandinavia who had been doing very thorough deep research and he sent it to the Head Quaters, not in arrogance, but sincerely seeking to know why the Society's teaching was not based on any research available elsewhere among respected researchers. There's even Babylonian business records that tell exactly which year which king was in power and for how long and these records cover the complete period of Babylon's rise to power in the 7th century BCE, till its fall in 537 BCE. So, there is absolutely no doubt whatsoever that the Society is wrong about 607 BCE and subsequently about 1914 and their claims about 1919. Now, what is an honest JW to do with this information or any Christian when he realises that they have been teaching the wrong thing? The Christian thing to do is to be humble and apologize for your false teaching. So, this member of the GB tried to get the teaching corrected to match undeniable facts. What was the result of the sincerity, integrity and desire to teach truth of these two brothers? First, silence. "We'll have to get back to you on this one." This went on for many, many months. There was no rebuttal of the 587/586 BCE date, because proof for 607 BCE simply did not exist except in the fantasy of Russell's mind. So, since there was no way to deny the facts, what did they do in the end? They forced Raymond Franz to resign from the Governing Body and they disfellowshipped the pioneer. Then when Raymond Franz left Bethel and had to provide for himself and found work with a brother, they went after the brother who employed him and disfellowshipped him. Then they disfellowshipped Ray Franz for "associating with a disfellowshipped person", even though the brother was his employer. I'll leave it up to you to verify the facts. Ray Franz wrote a book, "Crisis of Conscience." When you read it, there is no bitterness. He does not sound like a bitter apostate, trying to get his back on them. He is not "derogatory", he just sounds like a man with a lot of integrity and honesty telling his story. Now, over to you. Are you allowed to read his account? Would you get disfellowshipped if the elders found out that you read his book? Are you really allowed to ask questions? I have proof of Russell changing dates, between two editions of the same book, from 1874 to 1915, to pretend he did not fail in his prediction. Are you allowed to investigate these facts from publications that the Society published themselves or would you get in trouble if you discovered Russell was deceitful? I think you know the answer.

@@RitaMalikfour, “Proclaimers” book, chapter 18, page 637-638 tells us about elders not wanting to sell books. In his “Jehovah” book (page 72) Rutherford called the elected elders “parasites”! He eliminated elective elders in 1932. But disfellowshipping as we know it today, was not practiced in Rutherford’s day.
I was considering becoming a JW member until i read about this shunning of family and friends. To this day, I'm still thinking negatively about this organization and how so many people still remain in this group. when I found out they have written their own version of the bible, I was more willing to investigate. this organization is not for me. The theory that's being taught to millions of people is very controversial. If you rewrite a book, from an original, (Bible) how can the original be so wrong or untruthful? You change a few words and call it you own international version...! Something to think about. Besides, I wouldn't like to go door to door talking to people about any religion. I would not write letters to people that did not request any information from me. Use my money for stamps and envelopes and also writing paper, just to get on a list to become a leveled member of this organization. this is not me.

Susan, my heart is with you. I know exactly how you feel. Cognitive dissonance is a hard maze to free ourselves from. But you can do it. In my opinion, this is what it means that God disciplines everyone he loves as his children. Hebrews 12:7-9. Your suffering to stand for truth is discipline--He 12:7. The GB have never been disciplined because they call all the shots. You just have to take apart their indoctrinating circuitry piece by piece. I did it a year ago. Then you can see all the illogical and unscriptural parts, like a malfunctioning machine, and how it has shut off your critical thinking ability. You can take that apparatus out of your mind and heart and see the truth for what it is. God is love, God is light, and all who love Christ are given the right to be his children. John 1:11-13. You will find your freedom in Christ if you don't give up! We have to look to the light and just leave behind those mean people who love the darkness rather than the light. There are deceivers everywhere and we were tricked by them, but no more.

I see and hear the hate in Toni Morris and I am having the urge to retaliate in the same way, but my understanding of scriptures, since leaving the JWs, leads me to act otherwise. The Governing Body is still.actively harmimg two million JW's, plus those family members and friends who love them. Dictionary.vom gives this for "dead horse": "noun, something that has ceased to be useful or relevant." The Goverbing Body of Watchtower is still doing harm, so it isn't a "dead horse" yet.

Where is Tony's obedience to Christ who taught that we must love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us? Tony really must think he is at Christ's level, but Tony has forgotten that he is uninspired and imperfect and has not been granted the authority to judge others. His behavior is rotten. Jesus said that any tree that produces rotten fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.

The Watchtower's take on "apostates" is ridiculous and entirely self-serving. An apostate, according to them, is merely a critic (technically an ex-JW critic but in practice *any* critic). But they themselves admit that they are imperfect men, and not above criticism. So their practice is another instance of talking out of both sides of their mouth at the same time -- "we admit we can mistakes" and "anyone who points out our mistakes is an enemy of Jehovah".

I wish I could get my dad to listen to these videos. He disagrees with a lot of the WT teachings but says he's waiting for them to change as has happened many times where he had a different view but they came out with "new light" that was in line with his thinking. He knows they are wrong but refuses to let go. I suspects its because hes almost 70. If heaves now then his whole life would have been wasted.

I'd give anything if my father was still alive to watch these videos. I'd love to get his take on them. He was a wise man like Eric, in terms of discernment and logic, also an elder in the organization, fair and open-minded. I can't help but feel that he would readily see that the linchpin has detached itself from the wheel. My sister is like your father, she can't deal with it, she'd rather keep her head buried in the sand, and I get it, sometimes ignorance is bliss, (not really though as I'd rather know the truth) it's taken a year for me to come to terms with it. It's been unfathomable to accept that some of the core doctrines we have been taught are apparently wrong. The grieving has been immense. I feel utter disillusionment and despair. I hadn't a clue for the longest time that the organization taught that Jesus wasn't our mediator. I was stunned by it. When the Bible says that Jesus is the mediator for all, what does "All" mean to you? The Bible doesn't say just for the anointed only, and where does the Bible state that our mediator is the 144,000? It doesn't. Then there is the overlapping generation doctrine? Seriously? They seem to be grasping at straws.
You know what the hardest part is for me? The realization that we could actually grow old and die. Yes, we have the promise of a resurrection, but we have been so conditioned to believe that we would never die that it's actually psychologically damaging to one's psyche to now realize that we probably will. People in the world have years to accept that they will die, they see it as inevitable, they accept it, but when raised as Witnesses that thought wasn't even in our vocabularies, we were going to live through Armaggeddon and into God's new world. We were the fortunate ones but now we have to accept at this late date that we just might die after all, and that to me is the hardest thing of all.

My father died over a lack of magnesium and a careless nurse who gave him a fast drip when she was told to give him a slow drip which threw him into code blue and cardiac arrest. I was told by my parents when I was a child that there was no way I would ever be a teenager before the end would come and it just went on from there. it's impossible to capture all of the feelings and place them into words. It's like experiencing another death. I wish you the very best.

Isaiah 66 is clearly *not* referring to apostates, what Tony Morris apparently does is take the final verse completely out of context and applies it to apostates.
Reading all the verses in the context of the chapter prior to that shows that is clearly *not* what the chapter is about.
That's the problem with taking a single Bible verse out of context that seems to agree with a certain position and applying it to prove something one already believes or wants it to mean.
A more reasonable approach might be to read Bible verses in context, *then* draw a conclusion as to it's meaning. Bro.Tony seems to take the reverse approach.

Your preaching does not honor Christ as you put in the background the one who received "the name above all names!" @God is Love Apparently you are blind to how many times Jesus condemned the Pharisees. But not once did he call people who questioned him apostates. Neither did Peter call Paul an apostate when Paul criticised him and exposed an hypocritical behaviour of Peter. The Society has weaponized the term apostates to a hateful label to slap on anyone who has a critique on their uninspired opinions. Jesus and Jehovah did not do this. They engaged in conversations even with Satan. They were not afraid of criticism. Only people who have darkness are afraid of the light.
JW's don't baptize "in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit." They merely ask if a person has dedicated their life to Jehovah, and the Holy Spirit doesn't even get a mention at all anymore. What does get mentioned is that by their baptism they become a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses. So, if you want to count a mere mention of Jehovah and Jesus in the baptism talk as "being baptized in their name", than the reality is that Witnesses are being baptized "in the name of Jehovah, the Son and the Organisation of JW's". Certainly not according to the model of 1st century Christians.

Even someone who is on the Governing Body is not able to have and hold onto an opinion based on facts, if the opinion of the other members of the GB is something else. He can ask questions and present the facts, verifiable facts!, but if the others don't like those facts, he will be forced to recant, just like the Catholic Church in the Middle-Ages did force so-called "heretics" to recant their biblical opinions that did not match Catholic doctrine. Now, you will say, "How can you know this?" I know this because there was such a member of the GB who had a conscience and who was a researcher for the book "Aid to Bible Understanding." All his research to confirm the 607 BCE date for the fall of Jerusalem failed. Instead he discovered that ALL professional researcher, hundreds and hundreds of them, confirm 587/586 BCE as the fall of Jerusalem. There was also a pioneer brother in Scandinavia who had been doing very thorough deep research and he sent it to the Head Quaters, not in arrogance, but sincerely seeking to know why the Society's teaching was not based on any research available elsewhere among respected researchers. There's even Babylonian business records that tell exactly which year which king was in power and for how long and these records cover the complete period of Babylon's rise to power in the 7th century BCE, till its fall in 537 BCE. So, there is absolutely no doubt whatsoever that the Society is wrong about 607 BCE and subsequently about 1914 and their claims about 1919. Now, what is an honest JW to do with this information or any Christian when he realises that they have been teaching the wrong thing? The Christian thing to do is to be humble and apologize for your false teaching. So, this member of the GB tried to get the teaching corrected to match undeniable facts. What was the result of the sincerity, integrity and desire to teach truth of these two brothers? First, silence. "We'll have to get back to you on this one." This went on for many, many months. There was no rebuttal of the 587/586 BCE date, because proof for 607 BCE simply did not exist except in the fantasy of Russell's mind. So, since there was no way to deny the facts, what did they do in the end? They forced Raymond Franz to resign from the Governing Body and they disfellowshipped the pioneer. Then when Raymond Franz left Bethel and had to provide for himself and found work with a brother, they went after the brother who employed him and disfellowshipped him. Then they disfellowshipped Ray Franz for "associating with a disfellowshipped person", even though the brother was his employer. I'll leave it up to you to verify the facts. Ray Franz wrote a book, "Crisis of Conscience." When you read it, there is no bitterness. He does not sound like a bitter apostate, trying to get his back on them. He is not "derogatory", he just sounds like a man with a lot of integrity and honesty telling his story. Now, over to you. Are you allowed to read his account? Would you get disfellowshipped if the elders found out that you read his book? Are you really allowed to ask questions? I have proof of Russell changing dates, between two editions of the same book, from 1874 to 1915, to pretend he did not fail in his prediction. Are you allowed to investigate these facts from publications that the Society published themselves or would you get in trouble if you discovered Russell was deceitful? I think you know the answer.

@@RitaMalikfour, “Proclaimers” book, chapter 18, page 637-638 tells us about elders not wanting to sell books. In his “Jehovah” book (page 72) Rutherford called the elected elders “parasites”! He eliminated elective elders in 1932. But disfellowshipping as we know it today, was not practiced in Rutherford’s day.
I was considering becoming a JW member until i read about this shunning of family and friends. To this day, I'm still thinking negatively about this organization and how so many people still remain in this group.
when I found out they have written their own version of the bible, I was more willing to investigate. this organization is not for me. The theory that's being taught to millions of people is very controversial. If you rewrite a book, from an original, (Bible) how can the original be so wrong or untruthful? You change a few words and call it you own international version...! Something to think about. Besides, I wouldn't like to go door to door talking to people about any religion. I would not write letters to people that did not request any information from me. Use my money for stamps and envelopes and also writing paper, just to get on a list to become a leveled member of this organization. this is not me.

Your organization is a publishing company that has amassed millions and millions in properties from the backs of the people in your organization,and the free service and works from them. Go research outside your organization,(which your instructed not to do, as they control you). Once you start researching,your eyes will soon be opened to the fallacy you've been following.

Susan, my heart is with you. I know exactly how you feel. Cognitive dissonance is a hard maze to free ourselves from. But you can do it. In my opinion, this is what it means that God disciplines everyone he loves as his children. Hebrews 12:7-9. Your suffering to stand for truth is discipline--He 12:7. The GB have never been disciplined because they call all the shots. You just have to take apart their indoctrinating circuitry piece by piece. I did it a year ago. Then you can see all the illogical and unscriptural parts, like a malfunctioning machine, and how it has shut off your critical thinking ability. You can take that apparatus out of your mind and heart and see the truth for what it is. God is love, God is light, and all who love Christ are given the right to be his children. John 1:11-13. You will find your freedom in Christ if you don't give up! We have to look to the light and just leave behind those mean people who love the darkness rather than the light. There are deceivers everywhere and we were tricked by them, but no more.

I see and hear the hate in Toni Morris and I am having the urge to retaliate in the same way, but my understanding of scriptures, since leaving the JWs, leads me to act otherwise. The governing body has elevated itself above the heavenly realm . Is that humility ? There is always a danger for us as mere mortals of thinking too much of ourselves !!! Their doctrines don't add up, let Jesus be the judge of the matter. Informing and enlightening is o.k.. But there is a fine line between what we, as ex-JW's do. If our motivation is love for the friends, who out of a genuine heart are groping for God in the dark and have been misled once again by the GB, then that is ok. But if it's out of vengeance, that would be wrong. The governing body is a dead horse. If we beat it, what are we really accomplishing? I believe you did a good job showing love for the friends.
The Governing Body is still.actively harmimg two million JW's, plus those family members and friends who love them. Dictionary.vom gives this for "dead horse": "noun, something that has ceased to be useful or relevant." The Goverbing Body of Watchtower is still doing harm, so it isn't a "dead horse" yet.

Eric, your video is wonderfully logical and completely compelling. Tony's arrogance and hateful desire to blow people away, like he blows out his match is mocking God! For we have all heard the GB call themselves "Christ's ambassadors," that God is making his appeal through them and that they are calling for reconciliation to God on Christ's behalf. 2 Cor 5:20. Where is Tony's obedience to Christ who taught that we must love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us? Tony really must think he is at Christ's level, but Tony has forgotten that he is uninspired and imperfect and has not been granted the authority to judge others. His behavior is rotten. Jesus said that any tree that produces rotten fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.

Yes, we sang our little hearts out. And we thought that things "outside" the organization were much worse. That was what Watchtower told us. But inside the Org, emotionally abusive people found their haven and paradise. They could mistreat sheeplike people to their hearts content.
