To be fair though im glad theyre adding in stuff that normally you only get with mods, it shows that they at least consider the modded stuff as potential ideas for official additions. Even if its not really that impressive of an addition
I just thought of a cool sword enchantment. Frostbane. When you hit an enemy they start freezing and gain slowness, just like if you were standing in powdered snow. The effect lasts longer and the freezing and slowness increase in severity as it increases in enchant level. This is probably going to be easy to add for mojang and adds a little more strategy in the game. Also this will help lessen the need for potions in combat
Should be called Frostbite, I think, but yeah. Definitely easy to implement; I was able to use two command blocks to create the effect. (Mobs and players now have a "TicksFrozen" NBT tag which, when it's 302 or above, causes freezing to occur. So just applying the slowness effect and setting the mob's TicksFrozen to 302 achieved the effect.) It shouldn't be hard for them to also make the freezing speed up the longer you're in the snow, which would give them full control over how fast the Frostbane/Frostbite effect hurts them by just setting TicksFrozen to a higher or lower number.

They should update frost walker to allow walking on powdered snow. Would make the rare enchantment much more useful and wouldn't force using the worst armor type.
I would agree, but I like features that force players to explore without their invincible safety armor. Maybe frost walker only sinks when you stop moving while leather always keeps you on top

It’s the same reason why you can’t wear an Elytra at the same time as a chest plate. You are sacrificing protection for utility.
@Kenneth Allen it's not about whether "frost walker" makes sense, it's that they wish to give value to leather armor. currently, when booting up a world nobody even thinks about leather armor. this would bring utility to leather, but then if frost walker could do the same it would rid the utility of leather.

I feel like they have to add a quicksand equivalent now, with leather also working on it, and has burning/suffocation rather than frostbite. Could use that to have some death traps in the desert, and possibly underground desert sandstone caves that you need to go through the sand to reach
They should try putting it underneath trees in mountain biomes! Such traps do actually exist IRL - an area of light powder snow surrounding a hole, where the tree branches block snowfall - and they're called tree wells.
I’m gonna say, the bucket thing makes powdered snow a lot less convenient, without stacking it’s gonna be tediously use even if you have a large quantities of caldron set up to farm it
You see, I would defend the snow routes of Gen 4 if it weren't that literally nothing happens in them... Maybe if a gen 4 remake happens and Sword/Shield roaming pokemon is included it'll make the snow a little more interesting
What I'd like to see in future updates... I would like it to take longer to warm up, like you need to put down a campfire or stand by lava, maybe new foods like warm soup? Like maybe you could heat up soup on the campfire & then eat it so it warms you up faster. It would also be pretty awesome if you could use wool to craft clothes!! So you can introduce fashion while also keeping warm! Also gives an extra use for wool. It'd be pretty cool if we could spin it into thread & everything too!

Dispensers can also place powdered snow and collect it with a bucket. Everything together makes it clear the powdered snow is a modified water source block. (Dispenser behavior, bucket behavior, cauldron behavior, interaction with fire, fall damage nullification, etc.) And having the bundle tooltip overlay for shulker boxes wouldn't be a problem at all. Bundles can hold up to 64 different items, and they display just fine; shulker boxes can only hold up to 27 different items, so they'd be fine.
It'd be cool if goats dropped their "wool" so that you could apply it to leather armor and make some mountain man type clothes to keep you warm and fancy looking. Just an idea.
I love that there giving armor there own benefits than just being what it is. Like how gold can make u friendly to piggys. Now leather helps u freeze less and walk like God. Hopefuly chain armor can be made and can be used against something
Hardcore mode has a special texture for every heart so instead of showing the ice hearts, it changes to the texture for losing a heart because there isn't a texture
One thing that would be cool is for the snow layers to act like powdered snow, and the more layers there are the slower you'll get. You should also be able to put snow layers on top of powdered snow, but you'll still fall into those powdered snow blocks. This will make traversing these mountains that much dangerous and require those leather boots as you won't know the difference between where solid ground (or snow) is vs being able to walk safely. I also feel like campfires should provide faster heat, and that the whole freezing effect should apply to the entire biome instead of the powdered snow, further utilizing the leather armor.
About Henry Cole's frost walker comment: it already allows you to walk on Magma without the need to sneak, which also allows you to walk on it unscathed.

It would've been awesome if we had gotten the Chillager to go along with this. Just as an example would be if a villager walks into powdered snow, instead of dying it would transform into a Chillager like how villagers turn into Witches when struck by lightning.

It would've been awesome if we had gotten the Chillager to go along with this. Just as an example would be if a villager walks into powdered snow, instead of dying it would transform into a Chillager like how villagers turn into Witches when struck by lightning.
