Minecraft: Java Edition (formerly just Minecraft) is the original version of Minecraft, developed by Mojang Studios for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Notch began development on May 10, 2009, publicly releasing Minecraft on May 17, 2009. The full release of the game (version 1.0.0) was on November 18, 2011, at MINECON 2011.
Bedrock Edition (officially subtitle-less; also known as the Bedrock editions, Bedrock versions, or just Bedrock) refers to the multi-platform versions of Minecraft developed by Mojang Studios, Xbox Game Studios, and SkyBox Labs and based on the Bedrock codebase. The latest Bedrock Edition version is 1.18.2.
Although all Bedrock editions are nearly identical, the price[note 1] varies depending on the platform. The Android version costs US$7.49 (£5.41), while the iOS/iPadOS and Fire versions cost US$6.99 (£5.05). The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions cost US$19.99 (£14.45). The Windows version costs US$26.99 (£19.51), and the Nintendo Switch version is the most expensive, costing US$29.99 (£21.68). DLC purchased from the Marketplace on one platform is usable on all other platforms, but the game itself is sold separately on each platform. Xbox Live achievements are not shared between platforms and buying the game on one of these platforms does not get the game on the others. The Xbox One and Windows versions are also playable to Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass subscribers respectively, with both versions playble to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions are playable on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 respectively via backward compatibility. As with all other versions of Minecraft, updates are free of charge. I think it is stupid how there are different Minecraft versions, everyone should be able to just play Minecraft together. It also means more work for developers, and it makes inequality throughout the whole minecraft community.

they wanted people to play it on mobile, so they had to make a whole new version
And what is the issue with inequality? I prefer to have more versions...so if i don't like one i can play with the other, also mojang sometimes makes that if you buy jave version you get the bedrock one, so they make it so if you payed for mine you can still play in bedrock without getting to pay again... Honestly equality has no value by itself xD, i also cared before about that but it's bullshit, it's bettrer to have diversity than all the same...

Java = better combat, better modding, shaders and texture packs. Bedrock = better building and easier multiplayer

Yes, they took the “realistic features” like placing torches on the honey block, surviving fire from only one little splash bottle of water, and arrow that cant even fly between two anvils

Igloos has hidden trapdoors in java edition too, but just some of them.
I think that some features are made different in bedrock to make it easier to run in smartphones with low specs.

youre right because java takes up way more ram then bedrock and needs more ram and cpu usage to run smoothly. I can play bedrock on my 4g ram pc and have 60 fps but when i play java its 20 fps on normal settings.
It would also be harder for consoles players to pvp against java players because of the hit cooldowns. Pc players would out match mobile and console players.

Me acuerdo de un comentario con muchos likes en un video de Bobicraft donde alguien escribió que si quieres disfrutar de miles de mecánicas y miles de mods pero con un rendimiento del culo pues juega Java pero si quieres un gameplay extremadamente simple, detalles en el entorno o en el ambiente y muy buena optimización constante entonces juega Bedrock.
