They will take teams to places for sure. Modern football really miss having players of their characteristics and qualities.

Never noticed before. He does invert to midfield lots and still outrun fullback from there.

As great as these highlights are, he wasn't a consistent player. He was mostly a burden to his teams.

Biggest load of crock , someone can come up with. How can someone that was always in top 10 Ballon D'Or nominee for almost 10 years running and considered the best left back of all time not be consistent!

I watched basically every Real Madrid match he played and no, he wasn't a burden to the team. His freekicks actually were super inconsistent but because of the entertainment value and the "what if he hits it's perfect" which sometimes actually happened he continued to take them regularly and quite far away from goal too. And Bernabeu liked it.
Carlos was excellent offensively and not bad by any means defensively and he often managed to use his pace to mask some positional issues. The galactico era problems were mostly due to bad midfield balance and not good enough CB pairings.

      @@lepari9986 what about his crosses?

@mw32411 overall speaking they were great. Stats back this up too since in LaLiga he had 78 assists in 370 matches which is way better than Carvajal has done or actually slightly better than Marcelo did. And I thought Marcelo was good at crossing/passing as well.
Have to say that for me Carlos could have improved his high crosses a bit, especially when we had Morientes up top. But his cut backs and powerful early low/lowish crosses were excellent.

Wow how much no sense in so few words.
Go back to learn football basics.
Roberto Carlos has been amongst the top 5 Left Defenders ever and yes he was consistent.
