    Perfectly fine for 5- 6.5mm nylon anchors or plugs for screws, but would reccomend stepping up to m18 for anything bigger like 10 or 12 mm on a regular basis.

      that's the essence of this tool. It's a scalpel, it's for surgical incisions.

    Im a concrete contractor and we drill 1/2" holes into concrete to dowel 1/2" rebar into. Would this hammer drill be able to handle a 1/2" bit drilling about 4" deep? Id say we would need it to drill roughly 15-20 holes per use. Im very impressed with Milwaukees other 12V tools and if this little 12V rotary hammer drill can do that then Im buying one

      mojo jojo 1/2" x4" homes it may struggle to do that continuously. Happy to be corrected by Dwain but he's offline for a few days.
      Leave it with me 👍🏼👍🏼 (mike)

    • @OZToolTalk
      @OZToolTalk  7 лет назад

      [Dwain] it's not really a matter of if it can, but how quickly. I'm sure it can do them, but I'd rather something quicker for 15-20 holes of that size.

    • @errolkim1334
      @errolkim1334 7 лет назад

      Absolutely no chance. This drill is for 7,8 mm bits, max. It's a very specific tool for a very specific job. If you want to drill holes into concret to shove in rebar then get yourself onto the Flexvolt platform.

  • @errolkim1334
    @errolkim1334 7 лет назад +1

    OK I just bought this not least because people here were speaking in glowing terms. I mainly bought it as I have to drill through some concrete that has some really shitty mortar rendering on it. Everytime I try to drill with the Makita 36v, it just blows chunks of mortar off into outer space. SO I will try this and report back. Cheers.

      It arrived today.
      It really really is tiny and the description of it as a toy is accurate. A toy in appearance and feel!
      Tomorrow I will bring it into work and give it to an electrician to fix his overhead ties with it, on a 6AH battery, and let everybody know how it goes.
      Cheers.

      OK took the drill into work today and immediately gave it to a spark who was doing overhead work. First thing first, the drill absolutely works. No questions asked. It drilled 5.5mm holes through some fairly mean slab. So it works! Bricks regular concrete blocks were no obstacle. Super light and easy to use, it compared better,all things considered, than his 110v bosch hammer-drill. Which says a lot. No dicking about with leads and cables, up and down the ladder etc. The LED is hands-down one of if not the best I have seen on any cordless tool. Building sites can be well lit but how much of the light hits the overhead ceilings,very little I can say.
      However, one minus, it's got no belt-hook. This is offset somewhat by the fact that it's so small and compact and well balanced. I have often had to get down off a ladder as there is nowhere to put my 36v Makita Hammer drill. That's a cordless tool and it just will not balance on the top of my ladder. So in that regard, the 12v Milwaukee comes into its own. But...the put a belt hook on the SMALLER 12v cordless drill, so for the pennies involved, I can't fathom why they omitted this on the very tool they invented for overhead work.
      The drill bit we were using was cheapo and worn down. But the holes got made regardless.
      Later on, we had to drill a wall-plate to a wall which had a load of joists already installed behind it. The 12v drill came into it's own as it's so short we could get close and get the holes drilled. The 36v Makita would have been pain as the weight and length necessitates drilling at an angle when space is at a premium immediately behind the target area. That's a real problem but it get's worse when your drill bit only has so much length and you need to get through 2" timber and into the wall on the far side. So you are losing precious millimeters when you come in at an angle.
      Bottom line is this......if you don't have one, get one, cos it's a winner. Flexvolts and Twin-18v tools are all well but some jobs are surgical and repetitive and require a small tool. This is it.

    • @errolkim1334
      @errolkim1334 7 лет назад +4

      Just one other thing............I have milwaukee's 12v impact driver and quite frankly it's waste of time. It's not that it doesn't work, it does, it's just utterly pointless. It's faar longer and a good bit heavier than the Makita 18v Brushless impacter and has half the punch.
      I mention this as people tend to look at 12v and say "Nah not enough power bro" and this is one of those times when they are plain wrong and plain right at the same time.
      The 12v Hammer Drill offers real solutions to real problems, confined spaces, exhausting overhead work, poor lighting etc. The 12v impact driver fixes problems which don't really exist in the first place. The Milwaukee 12v impacter makes a load of noise and really isn't any more powerful than the equivalent drill-driver. Cannot see why they brought it out, really. It's the runt of the 12v litter.
      It shows that real feedback from the people at work is most important.
      Drill your overhead holes with the 12v milwaukee, and drive the screws with the fantastic 18v brushless makita impacter.

    this M12 2416 or M18 2612? Which is better? Who is faster? Who will last longer?

    • @OZToolTalk
      @OZToolTalk  8 лет назад

      The M18 will certainly be more powerful, so if you have M18 batteries it's probably the better choice. I would say that the powerful drill will last the longest if given the same usage.

  • @DarkRaptor99
    @DarkRaptor99 10 лет назад +4

    I would love to have one, but I probably would get the M18 with a chipping function first. If I did a lot of punch list conctete/masonry drilling I would be all of this tool. It's the perfect tool for punch list stuff.

      if you'd got an 18V line going, then you'd probably just get one. but for those with only the M12, or who want a tiny rotary hammer, this is so awesome.

    I'm a sprinkler fitter hanging pipe in concrete all day. Drilling knock in holes ( 12mm and 15/16 mm holes) yes or know got 12 volt but not sure if this will handle so many and if it just as good as 18v. Does the vac attachment go on this by chance?

    • @OZToolTalk
      @OZToolTalk  7 лет назад +1

      Not sure about the attachment sorry. 12mm is ok, but not as quick as others. 15/16mm is too big an ask of this unit. It will take far too long. Get yourself a good 18v unit

    • @errolkim1334

      12mm is a half-inch in anyones langage and it's asking a lot of this little drill to do that consistently. For overhead work stick with the 18v platform for 12mm+ and for ground work get onto the flexvolt platform. I understand money is a concern but there really is no such thing as cheap tools.
