  • When cancer cells are closely packed together in a tumor, they're able to communicate with each other and coordinate their movement throughout the body. What if we could interrupt this process? In this accessible talk about cutting-edge science, Hasini Jayatilaka shares her work on an innovative method to stop cancer cells from communicating -- and halt their fatal ability to spread. Hasini Jayatilaka is a post-doctoral fellow at Johns Hopkins University and is currently conducting research on understanding the complex pathways that govern metastasis, the spread of cancer, which is responsible for 90% of cancer related deaths.
Hasini recently discovered a new signaling pathway that controls metastasis and showed that by blocking the pathway the spread of cancer can be slowed down. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

No to mention the still research level experimental treatment methods that haven't been implemented yet? And FYI you can't tell other people to get a life when you blatantly disparaged the "naive Sri Lankan girl" and her commitment to save millions of people. Get off your high horse and grow up!

How do such people choose the headline "How we can slow down the spread of cancer" just to bring them into limelight through the respectable platform like TedX. Did she ever talk about what kind of drug or about the clinical trial of it or the success rate? Nothing. Most annoying part is she shamelessly talked about "Hasini effect" when people like trying to save their loved ones and stumble across such videos to find some silver bullet. Shame on such people
