I was there! What a performance. Great lighting for the evening. Nice that is was warm. There were many dancers. I saw Tuba Skinny a number of times at the Jazz Jubilee by the Sea in Pismo and Arroyo Grande that weekend.
I heard 'by Max', Magnolia Stroll .. so a string player has a keen ear and imagination for the horns, and the band's blend. !!!
Such a tender touch; a lovely piece of music nicely caught here. The depth of talent within Tuba Skinny is extraordinary indeed.

Just love it when, at 14:58 in 'Bama Mines', Shaye nods to Robin and takes the lead - Craig , Barnabus & Todd go quiet altogether while Max & Greg pull back softly on strings .... and the cornet and washboard carry it so beautifully.
Tuba Skinny's arrangements and Shayes quiet direction give each tune an almost magically nuanced feel ...
it's a big part of who they are .... (and Eric's filming anticipated this, and much of the flow - kudos)

What a treat! TS can play hot, as we all know, but they show a different side here: tender, sweet, reflective. The video is dreamy. The sound is wonderful on my computer speakers. All musicians playing as if their souls depended on doing it well. I wonder if the kid in the stroller might be Erika's kid.
