I Got A New Rally Car..🚗💨

  • Maiden run of the Kyosho 2002 WRC STI Impreza. This is the rally version of the fazer lineup, and it performs great despite some annoying body rub. I got to drive one of these legends around 2005, and it's still one of the most impressive cars I have ever driven irl. After more research, I decided to go for some high mah 2S packs instead of running 3S. From what I gather, it can handle the power, but the motor will get really hot and not last long. This car has a 29t pinion and a 68t spur, so I think that may be too much for temps. It's tempting, but I want this car to last and not have any catastrophic fires. Hope you enjoy it, and thanks for watching! #rccar #rcdrifter #rc #scalemodel #offroad #rally #rchobbies @MarkBryanRC @poorboysrc @robbrennanrc @RadAbyss @DerbyCityRC @KaiCityRC @FullOnRC @reitplace4765

    Still on the fence about 2S and 3S. I just read a post that said running it on 50% should be ok on 3S. If anything, I think that may be a safe test for the next run. Just need to keep an eye on those temps! Let me know what you all think. I have some 2200mah 50c 3S packs arriving today (they were cheap), but will probably exchange them for some high discharge 2S bricks to stay on the safe side. 50% is no fun anyway.. 😁
    Edit: I tried it out in the next video but it's too hot. 2S on the way!

      My suggestion, running on 3s will kill the motor faster. A sealed brushed motor is set to fail and be swapped, the harder u run it the less runtime u will get from it. Maybe go brushless first (and undergear) .

      @@enricomiceli5517 Yeah, that's the conclusion I came to after testing in the following video. I just got a good run on some new 2S Hoovo packs that will do just fine. Video is uploading now. I already went through the Tim Taylor phase of having to over power everything with other cars, thankfully.. 😁 I appreciate your input!

      @@scaleworksRC exactly overpowering sadly means breaking, that is how they keep the (production ) costs down, by making everything just strong enough to bare 2s for a while.

    I just got this car two weeks ago and absolutely love it. I installed a 3500kv brushless motor in it and it flies on 2S.
    I noticed that your front led wires run along the fender wells. You may want to consider routing those through the center of the body as the wheels tend to rub on the body when landing jumps and hard bumps. You don’t want to damage those wires. That being said, I also suggest to put duct or aluminum tape inside the fender wells to protect the body. I noticed rubbing on mine after a couple of runs and therefore installed the tape.
    Edit: I also replaced the drive cups and drive shaft with metal ones. I think the plastic drive shaft would have too much vibration at speed.

    • @scaleworksRC
      @scaleworksRC  7 месяцев назад

      Right on, I looked at where the wheels move after re-taping the wires and it should be ok.. but I will double check to make sure. I want to keep this one "stock", but I can already tell it's gonna get the brushless treatment. Good move on the drive line too, all metal is a much safer bet when you start adding power. Glad you enjoyed, and thanks for the tips!

      Thanks bro, it's good fun even on 2S with the gearing it has. I would definitely get one if you like rally. The next one I want is the PTG-2R chassis with probably the Lancia Delta body on it. Those chassis are top notch, but costs just about as much as this whole car! New location coming soon!

      Oh ok, that sounds like it might handle the temps better. I got some 80C 2S bricks that I tested out in the most recent video. I'm really happy with the performance and got a good 20mins of run time hard driving. Thanks for the tip and yep, the fazer rocks!

      Diffinitly does rock and theyre plenty quick asis on 2s i was just saying if you did want 3s i believe 22 was what i settled on keeping temps in the low 150-170°f range but out the box a large capacity 2s shld provide tons of fun and almost think it was able to comfortably up to 30t too for a little more topend on 2s but thatll lessen runtimes a bit too
