Thank you Thomas for correcting those who call training in heat and humidity “the poor man's altitude”. As one living at 8000 ft, there is no such thing as easy pace except slow and downhill. For me, true easy pace (conversational) is my very brisk walk. And it starts all over after every trip for a couple of weeks to lower elevations. The flip side, however, is how great I feel racing at sea level 😅
lol, your descriptions of the "high camp challenge" and the hike up to escarpment were so fun. Karl and his poor dungarees. It's no joke! Mannn... FOMO not attending this year, I'll be back next year. Great job on the coverage this year lots of fun following along!
The fire during the race was near the road to the Green Gate aid station, so they weren’t allowing pacers/crew through from around 3pm-past midnight. I was working the river crossing. A lot of pacers wound up starting their duties having to cross the river.
I chose to start my pacing with the river crossing. Green Gate is just such a pain to drive to from the Foresthill side. There were also issues with the shuttles (breakdown). Some pacers ended up hiking down from Driver's Flat to the river.
And hats off to working the river. As warm as it was, I'm not sure how long I'd want to stand in that water even with a wetsuit.
@@wk633 I worked the overnight, 10pm-5am. They had us doing 90 minute shifts in the water and it was fairly pleasant in the wetsuit. The shuttle situation was a big problem. They had 4, and were down to 2, due to flat tires. So with the fire and closing green gate access, we had more than double the amount of people trying to get to the river with half the transport. The line was over 1 hour long to get on a shuttle.

The illegality of fireworks in CA really means nothing. Pro level fireworks all across LA all night for two days before till two days after the 4th. Cant say its great, considering anyone running today or tomorrow will be dealing with "hazardous" levels of air pollution...

A made a mistake to take a drink of water just as I hear 'Just slap him on his butt and say good game' ... water shot out my nose like a fire hydrant and has gone everywhere 🤣🤣🤣, Glad the wifw was not here .. I would have been in the dog house.. better pause and clean it up .

@@baseball90242 I have a good marrige mate, so its never that bad (and visa versa when she does something daft, we are best buds) .. but I would not have had time to type what I typed as I would have been rushing around to clean it all up.. still going back to what was said I would have loved to see Wamsley's face if Thomas had done that 👍
