    I've basically the same sets but with out the repeater feature. I live in Toronto Ontario Canada where no license is required. When I was down at Woodbine beach I made radio contact with another radio in Ocot New York 46 miles (50 kilometers)

    These are great radios for the price! Range is awesome and even though the disclaimer says without obstructions is 35 miles...I ski is Colorado and I was at (almost 14,000 ft) and my brother was on the bottom waiting for me, totally clear and no problem with reception through pine trees and a heavy snow fall!

      your 35 mile range comes with the fallowing to do list 1 look up G M R S repeter's near you
      you need to be licensed by the F C C then get your radio set to the in put side of the repeter and have fun I talk on 6 covering three county's around me

    • @donalderickson-si8ww
      @donalderickson-si8ww 6 месяцев назад

      IT is not a disclaimer is you can do it BUT you need too tune your radio to a tower with a G M R S
      transmiter to do that and you have to have a LICENSE to back it up.

    • @donalderickson-si8ww
      @donalderickson-si8ww 6 месяцев назад

      that is dune by a radio tower at 150 ft in the air ( the cops do it 24=7 =365 you can do it too
      you tune radio to tower and get your license then you can come and be with me and all
      your friends I owen radio station W R X N 824 out of Minnesota know every one know's

      @@RKingis Can't find anyone that sells them now (2023), but they do seem to be GMRS radios with 22 channels and 8 repeater channels. While they do share FRS/GMRS channels, they are listed as being a GMRS radio and require a GMRS license. Power limits - Remember that power limits for FRS channels 1-7 are 2 watts Channels 8-14 are .5 watts and channels 15-22 are 2 watts. GMRS radio's power limits are channels 1-7 are 5 watts channels 8-14. are .5 watts and channels 15-22 are 50 watts. GMRS radios will drop down to .5 watts when dialing into channels 8-14. Some like Midland GMRS radios don't even have 8-14.

    • @RKingis
      @RKingis Год назад +1

      @@greghaff229 Mobile radios aren't allowed to use 8-14, and it's written in the Part 95 rules. And as of 2017, these are strictly GMRS cause they access repeaters.

      @@RKingis GMRS HT radios auto lower the wattage to 1/2 watt for channels 8-14.That is how it is with my Radioddity Gm30, Btech V1, Midland GXT1000, Baofeng GM-15. Now my Wouxun 20 watt mobile and my Btech 50 watt mobile radio the max wattage on 8-14 is set at 1/5 watt. My Midland MXT115 mobile radio does not have channels 8-14. I think the key word here is MOBILE vs HANDHELD.
