I absolutely LOVE this version of Les Mis. Matt Lucas OWNED this role. He did an amazing job.
Yeah, Lucas nailed it. I've seen countless versions, Lucas by a country mile.
Matt Lucas is indeed superb in this. However, he initially had doubts regarding his abilities to play the role convincingly and was greatly helped in the early rehearsals by his opposite number, Jenny Galloway.
@@LANCSKID I'm glad he didn't give up. 🙂
He really did, and knowing he’s got Alun Armstrong’s approval makes me pleased! He really nailed this and didn’t take it as a joke like some comedians would.
I never realized the beginning of this song sounds exactly like the beginning of poor unfortunate souls
yeah
Which is very intentional
wonka 2023 when you meet the inn keepers also has a little diddy that sounds similar to the keys in the tone
Opening chord is Am9, which, fun fact, is also the opening chord to Californication.
The silence on "not much there" was such an unexpected but absolutely perfect creative choice! I keep rewinding just to watch that bit of comedic glory again and again! CHEF'S KISS PERFECTION!!!!
The first time I watched this song, I completely missed the fact that the Thénardiers are downright despicable because of how much fun Matt Lucas and Jenny Galloway are clearly having during this 😂
😂😂 so true! 😊
I'm playing Mr Thernadier, and this has given me some great insight on how to do it!!!
“Pipe down, chorus boy.”
You can tell Lucas is having the absolute TIME OF HIS LIFE on that stage :D
Reminds me of the owner of the last Airbnb I stayed at
Great comment!
😂😂
This is the best one by far. They needed to use this one on Spotify
My only exposure to Matt thus far has been the Great British Baking Show so this is amazing
That's the same guy?!
He was one of the creative minds behind Little Britain and played several characters including Daffyd Thomas, "The only gay in the village." He was also Nardole, a companion of the 12th Doctor, and played both Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum in Tim Burton's Alice duology among MANY other roles. His career spans almost 30 years in television, movies, theater, and voice work.
SAME
@@TechBearSeattleWOW! i had no idea omg
He was so bad on GBBS
Matt Lucas never fails to impress.
Best version of "Master of the House" ever. Nothing comes close. That is fact.
10th anniversary is arguably.
Stunning performance from Matt
The difference between this version and the rest is that Mr Matt Lucas is charisma. He exactly the type of person that would welcome you with one hand and rob you with the other, while smiling at you.
Matt Lucas is all kinds of awesome. Thanks for posting this!
The woman’s solo is my favorite part!
Omg that’s the most fun I’ve ever had
I remember having a lot of fun with this song in 2013. The Mistress of the House was hilarious at St Martin's Church in Knowle of Bristol.
I know this is the 35th anniversary one, but I love this version!
A MASTERPIECE! 💐❣💐
Daffyd Thomas can sing! 😂 I love all his characters
I love ladie who does master of the house wife she really funny she also done same song in 10th anniversary of les miserable
I really like his portrayal. I think it' great. Thanks for sharing.
Love this!
AMAZING!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🌟🌟🌟🌟♥️♥️♥️♥️
Yep. He's perfect for this role!
Be sure to look at the Randy Rainbow parody of this song.🤣
Totally here for it. A fond reminder how much I love this!
Absolutley love this ❤️🥰
Class 🎉😂
Hes so goood! But i loved alun’s version more ❤️ both so good tho!
cooooooool 존나 잘한다
I had no idea Matt Lucas played Thénardier. Llanddewi Brefi must be so proud.
I think Matt is my favorite Thenardier
Such a amazing tune love it brilliant
The Thénardiers: The Proto-AirBnB hosts. XD
amazing (:
Excellent.
Brilliant
george costanza sent me.
진짜 잘한다…
this song is so funny i love it
Love how this guy basically invented "Resort Fees". hahaha.
Thenardier's tavern is still the best service you can find in Europe 😂😂
Pipe down, chorus boy!
The only Mr. Thenardier for me.
Here for George Costanza in 2024 and Elaine’s Dad
Matt Lucas is great in this role, Alun Armstrong does it better but both are great imo
In the 80s I visualised Leslie Grantham and Anita Dobson in the roles. Remember Den and Angie? Or David Jason?
Well, miner best is definitely Alun Armstrong, but Matt version is still very charming
"He's in dah bathroom!"
omg it's Nardole
Should have been Thénardiers in the 2012 film.
why is nardole in a musical?
This is what he did, leading the new settlement on the Mondasian ship?
4:36 is that matpat???
1:28
bravely pfp in the wild ..
Seinfeld brought me here
My absolute favourite song out of the whole musical, i loved playing Mrs Tenadier in college
BRILLIANT MAKEUP! My god, even his teeth are disgusting!
Matthew was good. But, Alun Armstrong will always own this role... I'll die on thie hill...
They made such a mistake for casting Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter for these characters in the film. It should’ve been Matt Lucas and this woman. They are MILES better.
Films always will be different than theatre performances. I like both versions for different reasons.
I feel they were bang on with S.B.C and H.N.C as film is different from stage
They weren’t as good singers but they were certainly the funniest and arguably best parts of the film and thought they brought something new to the table
The entire film was a mistake. I walked out after the first 10 minutes because the singing was just THAT bad!
I understand going for someone different in the film, but like they did with Jenny Galloway here, they could have got Matt to reprise it on film. He does it well. A lovely man who can certainly play a scrounger, willing to treat you with kindness while bleeding you from behind.
I was fortunate to see Matt Lucas as Thenardier. Katy Secombe is by far the best Madame Thenardier in my opinion.
Inns were pretty horrible back then. That's why people liked staying in Nunneries or Monasteries because you could get a bed, food, and not get robbed blind by the Nuns or Monks that lived there.
This is the first thing I’ve seen Matt Lucas has done that wasn’t cringey.
Schumann
I like it when the white guy says things
huh?
Ofc someone got to make it a race thing
@@c0brah2OO2 I was just making an observation
@@manbot9210 OK but why is him being white relevant this version his daughter is black should I say I say i like it when the black girl says things? No because her race isn't relevant.
i laughed haha
PEANUTS
Samantha Barks was amazing in this
Does anyone else hear Bubbles Deveree at the beginning? XD
