The Carpentopod reminds me of the many legged traveling chest from the Diskworld series of books. For the life of me I can't remember the title of the book. Thank for the work you guys do!
Thanks Connor! We appreciate it. The Carpentopod was definitely one of the most unexpected projects I saw this year. We'd never seen Giliam de Carpentier's work before. Surprises like that are what we live for.
I thought so too! The Luggage shows up in every Rincewind book, meaning right from the very first Discworld book of them all: The Colour of Magic (and on to Light Fantastic, Sourcery, Eric, Interesting Times, The Last Continent, and The Last Hero)
All great choices. Steve Mould built a (much less cute) scaled up pop-pop boat a few years ago. Thermodynamics aside, pulsed jets like the pop-pop are actually very efficient propulsion mechanisms - Jellyfish propulsion is incredibly efficient, squid are super efficient at high speed and even steer their jet nozzle. (All due to vortex ring production).
There have been several previous Akira bike builds that used hub centre steering suspension and a number of production motorcycles too. I rode a Yamaha GTS1000 for a few years and they're an impressively stable, yet maneuverable machine (just 100Kg too heavy!).
@@MakerProjectLab The weight problem with the GTS was down to Yamaha's massive over-engineering. My local Yamaha dealer raced a GTS at the TT (placing 8th and 6th) and got rid of that 100Kg bloat. The Bimota Tesi wasn't heavy, but the hydraulic steering was a problem and the mechanical linkage that replaced it had geometric problems. The later Vyrus built development of the Tesi weighed just 155Kg, light for a liter class motorcycle.
Great end of year round up! Have you seen Brett Tech's Info Orbs project? I got one myself as a starting point on my way to trying to be a maker! ruclips.net/video/yzdI4rbazPk/видео.html

@@easternpalace Doesn't Rincewind get gifted the Luggage by The Tourist? Eitherway cool!
Thank you for the wonderful and really special channel in explaining the 2024 projects, and I hope to show more projects in 2025.
Absolutely fantastic as always Thanks all concerned Happy New Year
Great projects and great production value. Thanks for this compilation!
Thanks Chuck! We always have fun recording these. Next week we'll be back to the usual format.
All great choices.

Cool. I'll check out Steve's boat project too! 🚤

Wow! Yeah, I expect the weight of these bikes becomes an issue.

The human size pop pop boat is referencing a scene in Ponyo. It’s as cute as you can imagine
Totally! One of my favorite scenes from that movie, with all the prehistoric fishes swimming around beneath them. 🚤
Nice set of choices - looking forward to 2025's project picks
Sound's like Tyler is considering a Luggage replica from The Colour of Magic...?
Thank you so much!
Thank you, Chad! Much appreciated.
Painful attempt at introducing craftsmanship! Marvelous projects - thank you for sharing them!
