So hyang a 42 year old south korean cancer survivor in her early 20s her life is to bring joy to people having hard times.She has wrote 7 fantasy novels,. she does her own arrangements. Do not look for her to be famous she has turned down that chance many times I am 74 listened to many a singer she is in my top 3 . I have listened to her every day for the past 3 years

Thank you for reacting without crying. The most heart-warming mention to Sohyang is that we can write a book about this performance. If you had watched the video from beginning to end without a break, it would have been hard to control your emotions. In order to analyze it properly as a vocal coach, you need to listen to it several times and think about it.

@@alvinalson6966 You know it's one crazily extraordinary feat to pull off when even Sohyang said she'll probably never perform it again. Like, that woman is crazy good she can sing crazy songs like BOTW/Arirang Alone/Lean On Me when she is SICK. You can hear her voice falter here and there but the climax? Still slayed.

She is 43 years and she arranged all her covers and songs by herself also she teaches music at an university also she is a cancer survivor also she writes fantasy novels with succes. Yay a vocal coach that not only does So Hyang but comes back for more right away. There's so much more it's kind of ridiculous. Each as impressive and many differently impressive. Like the more recent "I will always love you" cover is not like most all the others and is just as impressive. I'd be tempted to do Mona Lisa next just because it is kind of fun and also a bit different. Home is another in that realm. Then it's the several obvious ones, "Everyone"...."You raise me up"...."Lean on me"...."Where are you"....each doing what the two you've done have done. There are others but those are the ones I most come back to.

Also very much on point for you to take note of the dynamic of the arrangement - Sohyang often rearranges songs she covers for her voice and the emotional message she intends. While many are enchanted by her divine light mix and powerful belt, those knowledgeable would notice the ease of her vocal transition as you did. I don't how this performance impacted the world for others, but it surely made my world better.

Yes.. as you mentioned she really knows How to Sing.. she changes her head voice and chest voice freely anytime that is needed to glorify context of the song, of course, her mixed chest-head voice is really Second to None.
FYI, she is a humble and kind person in her music life and real life. She really wanted to help people that need comfort and that's why she continues to carry out her music journey without a certain management of big music company in S Korea or Overseas

Dude, I appreciate the compliment, but you really need to understand that she can sing anything. Not just these delicate songs. I listen to her doing “it’s only my world”. She takes on a different, heavier voice color, and still knocks it out of the park! This is more of a rock style song.

You're going to get lots of good recommendations but please check out her recent performances on Begin Again Korea, especially I Will Always Love You where you get to hear her sing it in Whitney's original key which opens up a lot of cool stuff for her voice that isn't just "Take It Higher." She also does a sublime version of Misty, but you'll have to use the Vimeo version since JTBC hasn't made it available outside of Korea. Looking forward to more!

One more note.... she does all of her own arrangements. She never sings a song as written. This is why every song she sings sounds like it was written just for her. I have Nothing and Dream, both at the DMC festival, she sang back to back, and I believe her last note on Dream was a D6? You will want to check out both of those, sing they both took a lot out of her, but she never wavered at all. She spends more time in the 5th octave in one song than anyone I know other than Opera singers.
